Stayed at The Gore as I needed a hotel near to the Albert Hall. This was perfect for that, as is is very close. The hotel is a lovely old building with a really quirky layout that I assume is the result of years of evolving. The bedroom was grand a little small but perfectly okay, the bed was very... More

I was on a smaller budget this time so went for a standard room, but despite being obviously smaller I was amazed as soon as I walked through the door to find basically a miniature version of the suite I stayed in earlier in the year, all the same facilities (you keep finding more doors and drawers to open with... Very friendly and helpful staff gave us a warm welcome on our arrival. Our room was tucked away at the top of the hotel and although small it had everything we needed apart from tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel is located in a very convenient place - close to the Royal Albert Hall which was where we went... More

Lovely room. Extremely comfortable bed. Great water pressure in the shower. And thick, soft towels. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. A wonderful adjoining bar. This place feels like being transported back to a far more luxurious era. We will definitely be coming back. The only minuses are no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, and no bottled water.... More

I'll be honest, I love this hotel. The staff are beyond reproach. The rooms are comfy and the beds lovely. There are no kettles in the room but if you are a tea Jenny like me they bring tea to you very quickly. For work I recommend upgrading to the paid wifi service. As a female traveller on her own... This hotel is a little expensive, but you definitely your money's worth. Hotel looks great, bed was extremely comfortable, staff was super friendly and helpful, and the food and drinks were great. Was a little far from the nearest Underground station, but bus stops were around the corner, and the concierge was always willing to hail a cab.

Booked 6 weeks earlier and paid in full to celebrate a 20th wedding anniversary. Upon arrival told that they had double booked us. Dear Jane W., thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you feel disappointed. The Gore,s Bistro Restaurant and Bar has a nice ambiance and comfortable chairs for a pre Show drink prior to going to the Albert Hall. Great expertise from the barman making a number of excellent cocktails. We found the Bistro offered good inexpensive light meals when we returned after a Prom.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
