This was my fourth stay at St Giles and my most disappointing. The classic room I was allocated was very tired. The carpet was threadbare in places and pretty dirty. The small window had built in slat blinds but the controller was broken so they could not be opened at all. The first night was pretty cold even using the extra blanket provided. The next evening I realised the radiator didn’t work. I looked at the instructions for the air con unit and managed to set it to heat but unfortunately it sounded like a tractor. It would be impossible to sleep so at about 11pm I went to reception. They sent someone to check it and he agreed it was noisy. Jason at reception was very helpful in finding me a room with a working radiator. This was also in a much better state of repair so there are big differences in the quality of the rooms. This was still a classic non refurbished room but much better. There are four lifts but one was out of order and given social distancing waiting for space in a lift was a pain. This was the first time my room rate included the buffet breakfast. It’s in a fairly drab restaurant. The hot selection was limited but the standards were there however much of it wasn’t hot enough. The beans were literally cold, the sausages were not being turned so it was pot luck if you got a warm one. The hash browns tasted of fish and had clearly been fried in oil used for fish frying. The coffee was luke warm and pretty awful. The do it yourself toaster took three run throughs of the bread to get it toasted. When I left I mentioned it to the maitre D and then to reception when passing. I never heard anything back from anyone on this and didn’t use the buffet for the following three days. There are much better options locally including the cafe next door where you get a 25% discount if you are a hotel guest. I don’t recommend paying a penny more for an included breakfast rate. I paid a reasonable price for my four nights, approx £80 per night, but rates exceed £150 per night. The hotel is in a great location and possibly trades on this but I wouldn’t recommend paying more than £75-90 per night given the tiredness of the public areas, corridors and some rooms and it’s pot luck what state the room you are allocated will be in. I know they have some refurbished rooms on their website now, at a higher price, but I refuse to pay more to get a room of an acceptable standard. After four visits, I think I’m going to look elsewhere for my next London trip

3 hairs in shower, stains in WC, bed like a brick, tea&coffee stains up wall and on beverage tray, bedding nice and clean,shower tight squeeze and poor water flow, trouble shutting bathroom door, location fantastic for theatre. Reception staff and chef friendly.Breakfast basic, provided gluten free toast, coffee weak and tasteless. Wouldn't stay again sadly. Premier Inns better.

I have coming to St Giles for many years , even a few times during the last two years . I’ve always found it friendly , welcoming, professional and very clean. The reception is always helpful and polite and even wearing masks you can sense the warmth of a smile. Reasonable price for central London. Great breakfast in Sage and Chilli restaurant . Love Hudson bar to , it’s also friendly . A great place to stay if you are travelling or visiting .

Nice staff and friendly. The hotel needs modernisation. We stayed on the eighth floor accommodation. The room was ok but the radiator under the dressing table had been exposed. They had cut the chipboard panel and left all the rough edges . Not finnished. Bathroom mirror screws dome covers were missing. Back of the door needs painting. In the hallway the carpet needs cleaning. Breakfast was ok. Apart from the bacon you could resole your shoes with. Fried egg was like rubber. Someone was making alot of noise in the early hours of the morning whitch was quickly resolved by the staff (good thing)

My brother discovered St Giles bringing school trips from Athens to London. Two friends & I had booked a night on our way to the Eurostar & Bruges. Bruges was cancelled due to Covid, so we decided to just visit London instead & extended to 2 nights. We booked 3 single rooms & on arrival, the friendly receptionist made sure our rooms were together on the 6th floor. The rooms were big enough to stay in and clean. As well as the bed and ensuite, there was shower gel, a kettle, hairdryer & a fan. We were amazed that within walking distance were- Oxford Street, British Museum, Covent Garden, Leicester Square etc. Tottenham Court Road tube is 1 minute walk. In the road are many cafés & a Sainsbury’s shop. I don’t think you would find better value for money in central London in such a good location. We will return on the way to our next trip to Europe next spring.
