A landmark itself, Charing Cross opened in 1865 and remains one of the most well-places hotels. A few steps to Trafalgar Square. A minute's stroll to London's West End, A stone's throw away from The National Gallery and so much more. And when exploring more of the city, Charing Cross station is right next door. Restaurant and Bar facilities are temporarily closed until 31st July 2021.

The location of this hotel is perfect for any central London work. The Rooms are of a very good standard, on the small-ish side but this is to be expected given the location. Despite being above the railway station and on a busy main road the room was exceptionally quiet and air conditioning made a huge difference in the stuffy and humid London air in June. Beds are comfortable and the complimentary refreshments (restocked) in the room are a welcome addition. On arrival the information provided to me around hotel amenities and Covid precautions did not tally with the information provided in the room itself. For example while the Bar and Restaurant are being refurbished the breakfast is still being served in a different communal room. In-room information suggested only room service breakfast (with a different menu to the actual one) was available. On breakfast - with a limited menu and selection as available during my stay I would have expected a higher quality of breakfast or at least the same quality a 4* establishment should provide. The coffee was consistently burnt, not too strong - burnt. The sausages in the full English option were tasteless and felt cheap. The bacon was fatty, stringy and tasted like processed rubber. Hash browns were the standard triangles you get in every breakfast, though they are usually hot in the middle, not stone cold as they were on one day. Service wise the hotel performed as expected from a 4* establishment in inner city London. Nothing more, but also nothing noticeably less. Overall, as someone who travels regularly for business and makes a point of trying multiple hotels, I will not be recommending this hotel to colleagues who value a good breakfast as a start to their day. Personally I will only be staying here again if the convenience of the location outweighs the negative of the breakfast experience.

Visited for 5 days at the start of June. The hotel is one minute walk from Chsring Cross station and is perfectly located to visit Covent Garden, Theatre District, Trafalager Squ, Leicester Squ and the London Eye. The staff and surroundings were first class. We were in a standard double room which was very well appointed, safe, fridge, iron, ironing board. Complimentary drinks were replaced daily. The room was very clean and serviced daily. The only improvement which I think would benefit the hotel would be having its own bar open as standard opening times, if this is not the case due to Covid, I totally accept that. The hotel is totally safe in terms of covid with sanitiser and advice on using the lifts, all staff were very respectful and always wore masks. I would definitely recommend this hotel and return in the future.

Great hotel, super clean and looks like they have done some refurbs. The location is fantastic, close to Covent Garden and Leicester Square. The Savoy is 5 mins away and with how quiet London is, we walked up and got a table at their outside bar. Also it’s good to get off the train and be straight to the hotel (connected to Charing Cross station) Great price also!

We were relocated to this hotel due an overbooking in the hotel we had originally selected. The Clermont did not disappoint - it's in a great location. The room was quite small but that was fine because it was lovely and clean and had super-soft towels in the bathroom. Courtesy soft drinks had been left in the fridge along with nibbles and a selection of sweets on the table - a very nice touch. We were only there for one night but all the staff we met during our stay (breakfast and reception) were super-helpful. I think the refurbishments have been slowed down due to the pandemic and we were told there is a little bit more to do but this is still a great hotel that will be even greater once the refurb has been completed.
