Another wonderful stay at Double Tree Hotels in London. Everything was on point, from the reception team, cleanliness of the room, crisp bedding, firm pillow and a good night's sleep. The breakfast not to be missed, value for money. The staff helped and supported one another. Double Tree Hotels is a must.

I previously reviewed the hotel and gave it a one star due to an issue relating to a £50 additional deposit taken for incidentals. The reason and process for this has been explained by the assistant manager and I thank her for taking the time to do this. As for the hotel, it is well located and is great value for anyone visiting London. The staff were really nice and friendly, I will certainly return and would highly recommend.

We booked this hotel because it was within walking distance to the theatre. The trip to London was a special occasion so we chose what we thought was a superior hotel . The location was great and initial impressions from the reception and bar area were v positive. It looked really smart. Our first room was quite frankly an utter disgrace ( see pics) and I was gutted that they actually put guests in it. It had not been cleaned properly for some time by the amount of dust in the bathroom and filthy windows. I complained at reception and was told the hotel was full. When I showed them the images and videos they told me they would try to find a room. After an hour or so wait, we were given one of the suites on the top floor. They squeezed in a single bed so we could sleep three. This room was fantastic and more in line with what I’d expected from Hilton. I wish I’d taken pics of this room as it was lovely and luxurious. I’m so glad I complained. The whole weekend could have been ruined by a disgusting room that is significantly below standards of even a two star hotel!!

Pretty disappointed by our stay in Double Tree. We have stayed in others and were not much impressed by this one. From the outside the hotel looks impressive however once inside the decor is tired and out dated (think maroon swirls and those cheap abstract paintings many hotels have). Our room was pretty souless and uninviting. The decor again just seemed old and tired. The door on the mini fridge was squint. The bathroom was large but you immediately had to squeeze past the toilet. There were two sinks but they were small and the taps too large so that you ended up splashing yourself. There was also no where except the sink to put your toiletries so they become wet. The breakfast buffet was underwhelming and not as wide a choice as other hotels. On the plus side the bedding and towels were clean and seemed quite new and the room was of a decent size. The staff were friendly and polite. My feedback would be that this hotel needs redecorating throughout. In conclusion this is an adequate hotel but for the price you can certainly find better.

Arrived in London and headed to the hotel the reception area lovely - the concierge looked after us and we left our bags to return at 3pm to check in. Returned at 3pm room not ready told to wait in the bar - 30 minutes later we were told our room was ready and we eagerly headed for the first floor twin room (we’d stayed in double tree in Bath and Manchester and were delighted) however on entering our room the door hit the one bed so the door could only be opened partially (looking at the size of the room I would say this was a single and they’d squeezed another bed in the room); we noticed the floor was covered in dirt and masking tape; the headboard was filthy and worn ; we looked in the en- suite bathroom and the door had a coat of undercoat with masking tape on the door handle and lock (so obviously under renovation but not complete); the light up mirror (which didn’t light up because not connected) in the bathroom was not fixed to the wall and the window area was grimy; there was air conditioning which was a huge unit above the one bed which was noisy and the control was hanging off the wall showing live wires. The most opulent part of the room was the carpet in the huge wardrobe? I’m not one to complain but we had paid in excess of £500 for this room so we did go to reception to complain- the receptionist said there were no other rooms she could offer us - I did say the rooms most definitely did not reflect the opulence of the reception area - she looked blankly at us and said was there anything else she could help us with. I did say I would like a room which was at least clean she replied there was nothing she could do! With no choice we returned to our room as we had theatre tickets, we were getting ready and a man let himself into our room (luckily the bed stopped him entering fully) he apologised and left. On leaving the hotel that evening I reported the mystery man letting himself into our room which again was met with a blank look and no reassurance given. We stayed for the 2 nights and we were so glad we didn’t book for breakfast we spent as little time as we could in the hotel - not even purchasing a night cap on our return in the evening I was so angry and determined not to give this hotel any more of our money. The best part of the hotel was the cookie !

One night stay to visit the Lion King as a birthday treat, the location is great 15 minutes walk from Covent Garden & theatres. Easy check in with warm and friendly service and a nice upgrade as a Hilton Honors member. Room was clean and perfect for our purpose. Breakfast was plentiful with a great choice ideal start to the day for the journey home. As with other comments there are a few tired aspects in the hotel and the air conditioning in the room sounded like a petulant Vespa at times, but this is a busy hotel in a prime location and didn’t impact our stay. Overriding memories of the stay will be the service of the staff, clean room, good breakfast and the location of the hotel.

Stayed here 6 times for 4 nights on business. 4 times I have had bad rooms but this trip was the worst. I requested room with bath because of medical issues and quiet room. I was allocated what is called a premium room. It did have a tiny bath. I am 5 foot 4 inches and I struggled to use it. The whammy came first evening I went to shut the curtains and realised they were far too small for the windows so massive gaps they don’t cover. I went straight to reception next morning and reported it, asked they please replace my curtains. Came back late that day nothing. Next morning I reported it again to an uninterested worker. I asked again they make it right or move me…..again nothing. Hilton how can you rent a room to someone with inadequate window coverage, it’s ridiculous. Your standards have plummeted. Breakfast ok but I had bad stay because I woke very early when sun rose because I has NO CURTAINS.

Dear JayTay, Thank you for having stayed with us and for filling out a review of your experience. It is a shame that the curtains in your room were not to your satisfaction. I can say that I have personally been to the room today, the curtains closed and blocked out all of the sunlight. I disagree with your point of view that my team were uninterested, nothing could be further from the truth and should you or your company decide to book a future stay with us, I will gladly provide you with a complimentary upgrade and ensure that the curtains are in working order! The staff at this hotel are excellent and made our stay very enjoyable. They were so helpful and I really loved the service provided. The room was good. Not extremely big but bigger than rooms I’m used to in Europe. We had a nice size bathroom as well. I’m used to bigger rooms since I live in the US. The breakfast was good (free because I’m a Hilton diamond member) staff was friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed this hotel and my only complaint was the very small elevator that seemed to sometimes take long. This hotel is in a great location and is perfect for a couple or two friends traveling together. I would stay here again. The girls that work up at the front were the best!

Stayed here for a theatre break for two nights, overall is was a average stay compared to other Hilton’s I’ve stayed in. Usually we get cookies and jelly beans upon arrival but this time it was two small bottles of water, not a massive issue but should it not be the same class of service across the brand of Hilton. . Room was ok but very dated and could have been cleaner, dust on the skirting boards was very visible, was a good location for theatres and tubes but the standard of room was a let down. You associate the name Hilton with a first class hotel but not no more, for central London it was a let down and airport Hilton’s are so much nicer

This was the worst Hilton hotel I’ve ever had the bad fortune of staying in. Positive: staff were helpful and friendly. Negative: the room was shockingly bad! The room had a weird low ceiling giving it a very claustrophobic feeling, like a cabin on a bad cruise ship. Curtains didn’t close, they were too small for the windows. The curtains were covered in a nice layer of dust. They were stained badly by goodness only knows what. The carpet had literal Holes! Not marked by wear and tear, but actual holes, many of them. There was something filthy in the bathroom window recess. The furniture looked like it would collapse if it was touched, wonky drawers etc. the easy chair was so filthy you wouldn’t even want to rest your belongings on in. All in all, simply HORRIBLE. The sad thing is that cleanliness is a basic necessity and it is lacking.
