Back to London for a 5 x Night stay and this time chose the DoubleTree by Hilton in the West End. I've been to London several times and have usually stayed in the Kensington / Knightsbridge area, but wanted a change for this trip - glad I did. In my mind DoubleTree is Hilton Boutique (ish) and cheaper than the full-blown Hilton. An easy hotel to get to from Heathrow - take the Piccadilly Line train from the airport to Holborn Tube Station, then it's a 5min walk - cheap, easy, a bit over an hour and no London traffic. I'm Hilton Gold so I had free breakfast, a room upgrade and a few other small perks. The room is on the small side (but that's normal in London), but is well appointed. I DID like that there was USB on each side of the bed (great for phones etc) - there's no clock in the room so phone is how I tell the time when I wake up at odd hours (jet lag). There's a couple of universal power outlets as well as the UK ones - great thinking. There's several shelves in the bathroom - that my Wife thought were a good thing for all her stuff. We found the room pretty warm even thought it was between 6-16deg C during our stay and we didn't turn the AC on and even had the window open. Bed was nice and firm and the linen was great. No bath (nice shower only) in our room - after some long walks a bath to soak in would've been nice. Breakfast is great and has all the usual hotel type offerings. The also have a bit of vegan / gluten free / health options. The Breakfast staff are warm, inviting and efficient. Did spend a couple of evenings in the hotel bar / restaurant and it was also great. Nice selection of drinks / bar food and "proper" meals at reasonable prices. Great staff here as well. There's plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. As the name suggests the West End theatre district is close by as well if you're checking out some shows (and there's HEAPS of them) and you can take the Tube from Holborn to get anywhere if you don't want to walk (we walk everywhere). Hey... even their muzak playlist in the hotel bar / restaurant was great we thought. All nice things to say about this hotel from us and we'd go back there anytime. …

The staff were lovely and welcoming. The lobby and bar were beautiful. However, this was the smallest room we’ve ever stayed in. One bed side table, which meant one socket. The bed at the foot was ripped. Bathroom door barely opened and black tape around the radiator making it safe!! This was our treat weekend, but i felt we would have got better for money in a travelodge 😂

This had to be one of the worse stays I had at a Hilton property. List of issues. 1. light key holder broken did not work correctly when key inserted(this was verified a day later after our complaint. we were told they are aware of it will fix it the following day ) 2. Drain in the shower clocked. not able to take showers without water over flowing...the following day the repair person did come up and had it cleaned. 3. Lights next to bed could not be controller without all lights being shut off. ( a day later verified by manager of operations. would fix it the next day as it would take some time to fix) 4. Electric light in the bathroom not working. need to use outlet in bedroom to dry hair.. 5. light bulb in the bathroom not turning on. (verified was not fixed or replaced) Not sure why we had all these issues with our stay for 2 nights. We will be calling corporate office and also writing several reviews regarding our awful stay.. The staff are wonderful especially Geetha. Who made us feel welcome and extremely helpful. The room was spacious and clean The breakfast was The location is central to all the tourist spots like Covernt Garden, Soho.

We had a great time and all the staff was very helpful. The sandwiches and cakes are very nice and we had excellent table service from Sathish. He is polite and willing to help as we asked him to take photos for use during the afternoon tea experience.

This hotel is my go to place. I just love the entire vibe and feel like a king in this place. Everyone is so welcoming and warm. Special mention of Ms. Geetha who is very approachable for anything and I wish every staff member was like her. She makes this hotel a better place.
