South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.

Picked to be close to Earls Court Station to allow easy tube access to Wimbledon. Very convenient and successful in this regard. Pleasant / friendly staff. Everything is very compact. Room 11 was a good quality twin clean and functional.good use of space in compact bathroom. Shower ok but stream of water was modest at best. Effective air conditioning. Catering limited to compact conservatory like breakfast bar. Clean and functional. Adequate breakfast. I would use again in similar circumstances.

The Hotel is located at a walking distance from Earl's court station. From Heathrow T4 one can take the Piccadilly line to Earl's court and walk 3 minutes to reach the hotel. There are lots of restaurants in the vicinity. The check in was very smooth, Johnny and Paula at the reception were both very friendly and helpful. The room was big and clean enough but the shower box was extremely small. The breakfast was good. All in all the stay was pleasant.

The hotel is located in an incredibly quiet nook of London, even though the Earl's Court tube station is only two blocks away. Although the rooms have often been described on TripAdvisor as "small", we were pleasantly surprised. On the other hand, the bath, which had apparently been carved out of the room, was a bit tight. Fortunately there was lots of hot water, and the towels were wonderfully soft and fluffy --tried to find out their manufacturer, but no one had that information. Breakfast was fairly basic --only hot item was "do it yourself" hard boiled eggs-- but more than adequate with lots of fruit and very good rolls. The desk people were most helpful; unfortunately they were not able to give us more than basic help with our luggage as there was only one staff person on duty at a time and s/he needed to stay in the reception area. There is an elevator; however, it only stops on the "half floors", so if you think you will need assistance, make sure you let the hotel know in advance. The rooms are a bit garish relative to the hotel's townhouse facade but the beds are comfortable and the room was spotless, so I will overlook the decor. A major problem is the hotel's cleaning schedule. Apparently the rooms are made up by floor rather than assigning staff to first clean the rooms being vacated. So, as we watched guest after guest check out, we sat and waited --for over three hours-- for our room to be ready There are several good restaurants within easy walking distance: the fish and chips at The Prince of Teck was super --one order would easily be enough for two people. And, although a chain, Zizzi's --which offers Henley House Hotel Guests a discount-- lasagna was outstanding, The only problem with Zizzi's is that they served us a pinot noir that had apparently been kept by the stove. We were treated like "dumb Americans" when we indicated that "room --or better yet, cellar-- temperature" did not mean "kitchen temperature". And, of course, both restaurants had volume levels --from speaker systems, not from conversation, far above what we consider comfortable. I was torn between giving a 4 and a 5 star rating to Henley House. Given the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, I decided to "round up". The decider was "Would we stay there again?" The answer was yes.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff and great location a couple of blocks from the Earl's Court tube station. Many restaurants just down the street - fantastic place to set up shop to tour virtually anywhere in London. We had the small room with a double bed, which was OK. The bathroom was the size of one on a cruise ship - small but well appointed. Breakfast was very good and well stocked and serviced in a picturesque room with vaulted glass ceilings. The selection was the same every day, however. There is also a self-service laundromat a few blocks down the main street if you don't want to haul too much luggage. We will definitely consider staying here again the next time we are in London! Jack and Amy Greene/May 2019

Stayed in room 41 for 2 nights...only a minutes walk from earls court tube but a different world from the noise and bustle...had my quietest ever nights sleep in central London. Room design had been really well thought out, didn't feel small. I'm not a fan of continental breakfasts but the hotel offering was really good, great choice and everything fresh. The staff from reception, kitchen and cleaning were all friendly and welcoming.
