Stayed at Hotel Russell in early June with my girlfriend for a couple of days out in London. As soon as you walked in you see what you pay for! The concierge was extremely polite and was never without a smile. The ladies at the front desk were efficient, polite and made checking in and out quick and painless. The... More

We returned to Hotel Russell for all the reasons noted in my August 2015 review. Especially important to us is the location. The Hotel is next to the Piccadilly Line tube that goes directly to Heathrow, which is important for travelers. Also, it is about a 20-minute walk (or 2 tube stops) to the theater district, where we typically spend... More

I stood at the Russell for 3 nights will on the start of my European vacation. I had previously been in the Bloomsbury area of London before and wanted to stay there again. I knew of the Russell through it's history and got a room for a good price. For better or worse, the Russell is a historic hotel. That... More

I had a booking with this hotel in October 16, but found out today, via the website, that the hotel was actually closed from today until 2017. I heard nothing from the actual hotel about the fact that I have to now book somewhere else in London for my mother's birthday but purely by chance through the hotel. I'm sure... More

We stayed in this hotel in March 2016 and paid around £120 for the night. This hotel is in a prime location, about 5 minute walk from the nearest tube station. The room was full of amenities such as toiletries and tea coffee e.c.t. However, in all honesty, this hotel was no better than other hotels in it's price range.... More

The few months leading up to our stay, hotel Russell kept ringing me and leaving messages to ring back. When I rung back - no one knew why or what the situation was. Very annoying and stressful! In the end the one night stay was ok. But what wasn't ok was the hotel rung my parents a taxi for 5am... More

I think a three star rating is being kind. This glamorous old hotel has lots of the vestiges of glamour ( Top hatted concierge, uniformed staff ) but no actual glamour at all, apart from the staircase. The hotel is undergoing some reconstruction, scaffolding was going up while we were there. I'd check on status of construction before booking for... More

I almost feel guilty for reviewing this lovely hotel whilst it goes through such an extensive renovation (which, I have to say, in no way impacted upon our stay here) Primarily, the location is what attracted us. For travellers from the west coast and therefore arriving into London at Euston, it is only a brisk 10 minute walk and about... More

Stayed here for one night on business. Did not realise that the hotel was undergoing a major renovation. Not sure how many rooms are available for guests, but I am guessing that a significant proportion of the hotel is currently shut. The fifth floor rooms are a good size, but the room itself is in desperate need of the renovation... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
