Impressed by the style and location of this hotel. Easy access to the very heart of London. Sometimes this type of hotel can be intimidating and impersonal. Not so here. Friendly and reasonably priced. Would be happy to stay again.

The hotel location is perfect. The underground is 3 minutes walk. Only 2 stations from Piccadilly Circus. The are small but nice. Breakfast is basic. Nice restaurants around the hotel. Just 20 minutes walking to Waterloo bridge and the lion King theater. (Burleigh St) Summary: recommend place to stay in London

Impressive and imposing lobby! Rooms were clean and comfy. Gd WiFi. Great for conference as food was buffet and brilliant. The breakfast is vast and lovely. If you have an inner room them quieter as rooms facing out tell you London is a busy city with lots of cars and sirens at all hours. Staff are always fabulous. Currently, the... More

Stayed for a week for a conference, and could not believe how big and grand the place looks from outside and in the foyer with a grand staircase. However, the room was small, a view of the dated internal courtyard, and very small bathroom. The Lift is one of the smallest I have ever seen, and I had trouble with... More

This hotel is full of character. I visited with the family over Christmas and had 2 rooms. Not only is it beautiful to look at from the outside, I gather many of the rooms have been recently renovated so they are perfectly adequate for a short stay. The standard rooms are typical of the city and do not offer a... More

Loved this hotel! They knew that we were celebrating my daughter's Birthday and we had a desert plate waiting for us in our room. The hotel is older, however it is impeccable. We will definitely be back. We traveled March 2015.

This Hotel always attracts me for its architect and design. It is under major renovation these days,so most of its exterior is covered. Never the less, from inside it gives all comfort a guest will need. It is very conveniently located near Russell square station connecting directly with airport, and most of the London attractions. The restaurant on ground floor... More

The Hotel Russell is in a location that fits well with being a tourist in London. The concierge staff has a great free map of London upon request. The staff will help pinpoint places of interest on the map relative the hotel. We used the map as marked by the staff as a guide for visiting several locales and getting... More

We had booked a five night stay at Hotel Russell from July 15-20 over three months in advance. On July 11, we got a mail from the hotel saying that our reservation had been cancelled because of some ongoing renovation work. So, basically four days before our holiday we had no place to stay. In order to "help", the hotel... More

Stayed recently for a special birthday. This by far my favorite hotel in London. I stay every year in December when the hotel is decorated so traditionally and is well placed for all my last minute shopping. Sopna the manageress and Bernard the doorman were friendly, helpful and nothing is to much trouble. I love the history of the hotel... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
