Nestled in a prime location, The Waldorf Hilton, London garners acclaim for its elegant atmosphere, complete with live harp music and unique decor, although noise levels can be a concern for some guests. While the service quality receives mixed feedback, with commendations for staff friendliness but criticism for occasional slowness, the hotel's amenities generally impress visitors.
Room experiences vary, with some describing them as cozy and others finding them outdated. Cleanliness is upheld throughout, yet the hotel's value proposition has been questioned due to perceived discrepancies in price and service.

Detailed Reviews
Chose the Waldorf rather than another that was 2-300 pounds cheaper as surely it was the Waldorf. I would not say don't go here as it is a decent hotel but i probably would visit the slightly cheaper option, as I didn't get the experience I had expected/ hoped for. The desk staff were ok, although the original check in was very good, while the concierge were excellent. Wifi was out for a day, but that can happen anywhere. Not having our room serviced one day was very unfortunate and when I phoned down to the desk circa 4-30-5pm being told 'we are very busy' is not really what I call a good excuse/reason. We had left our room at 10 in the morning and had lit the 'service our room' button.
Its location is good, although dont get confused that it is on Trafalgar squares doorstep as that is pushing it a tad.
The rooms were clean as was the rest of the hotel, generally there was a pleasant atmosphere.
I forgot to mention at the reception desk, that the plug would not keep the water in the basin and both cupboards in our room do not shut properly leaving the lights on 24/7 (fridge cupboard , wardrobe) hopefully if this is read it will be picked up and the waste of electric is stopped. Fixing the plug will allow the sink to be used for shaving washing.

Hotel's Favorite
I think that the Waldorf is one of my favourites hotel in London.
The staff and the entire team are just fantastic.
I went to London from Manchester to go to Beyoncé’s concert.
I always love to stay there, beautiful and charming hotel. I was checked in by Rose, she was so efficient, polite and kind. We got an upgrade and it made our stay even more special. Our room was big and beautiful, lovely for a good relaxing night.
I’ve also had afternoon tea at the Homage restaurant and it was just incredible, they are doing a “ Beauty and the Beast “ themed afternoon tea and we loved it. Every single details from the table decoration to the food with all the most delicious ingredients to the harp sounds at the background.
Ryan and Sophie looked after us for our afternoon tea and they’re just fantastic.
So kind and polite both of them. They made sure to explain about all the sandwiches and sweets and the process of making.
I was checked out by Olga at the front desk and she was adorable.
This team go extra mile to make sure that you are comfortable and happy.
Thank you so much to the entire team, you guys are doing a brilliant job, in special Thank you so much to Ana and Olga from the front desk Ryan and Sophie from the homage restaurant.
Thank you.
Warm regards,
Etienne Junior. 😉

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
For other Black women and single persons in general who enjoy solo trips, this hotel is worth a stay. Despite a rude experience with one unpleasant male receptionist, some problems regarding my alleged use of the mini fridge (if you put some personal items in it, the hotel charges you as if you removed something!! :-)), some misunderstandings regarding the breakfast/dinner included offer (read the menu carefully if you want to avoid extra charges for your dinner included - breakfast is a buffet), a newspaper delivery service to your room discontinued since covid19 but still advertised on the website,
I will recommend this hotel because of the quality of the food, the overall friendliness of the staff and all the help and information that they've given me regarding transportation in London, the quality of the bed, the location of this hotel - a 3 to 5min walk from Kings College, Somerset House, Courts of Justice, a 3min bus journey to Holborn tube station, a 10 min walk from Embankment tube station alongside the river Thames. I really felt comfortable staying on my own, surrounded by couples, family because there were other solo persons (female and male) having breakfast and/or dinner next to me. I particularly recommend the afternoon tea: it was a lovely experience with great tasty food. Belgian Chocolate regards from Brussels.

Upon arrival at 14:50, we checked in and were told the room isn't ready. We expected that as check-in is only from 15:00 so we were happy to wait at the lobby and have a drink to relax. But waiting until 16:00 was getting irritaring, and what makes it worse is we would've waited longer if I didn't go ask if our room was ready. Only after asking did they say it was, nobody came to look for us. Venturing to the room, the entire hallway smelled like a damp public bathroom.Linen also towels was dirty,lIt really was bad. The room was okay. Boring to be honest. Looked like a 90's hotel room with blue carpets and bad nostalgia.
It's the small things that make the difference, like having a massive TV but wifi is not included, and having seating for 4 people in a double room but the bed is the smallest double I've ever seen. Dusty curtains, noisy aircon fans, and giving a bottle of water with paper lids over the glasses seems pointless, just put it in a cupboard. And for goodness sake, have a kettle in the room. We stayed on 8th floor 802 , seems like there’s an office and every morning we heard that one woman was always shouting I thought the Hilton would be a nice treat for my mum and aunt who visited me, but I really wished I just booked an Airbnb again.

Responded Nov 25, 2024
Dear daviddE9505KN, I would like to apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience caused by your room not being ready at 3pm. The team do their best to have as many rooms ready and checked by 3pm especially if occupancy levels are high. I appreciate the corridors were less than inviting and certainly not our usual presentation. I am concerned about the level of cleanliness in your room and this will be shared with our Executive Housekeeping team to review. I appreciate your honest feedback and would like to assure you that we take all comments on board. I do hope you will still choose to return as we would like to restore your faith in our services. Kindly email LONWA_GuestRelations@hilton.com with a copy of my response to Make It Right for you on your next planned visit. Thank you Guy General Manager

I was really looking forward to my first visit to London and chose this property for both its convenient location and the Waldorf Astoria name. Unfortunately, my stay fell well below the expectations I had for this brand, especially considering the price.
If you’re considering staying here, particularly in a room categorized as ‘O5,’ I encourage you to take this review into account. Here are the main points to be aware of:
1. Noise from the Nearby Theater: The hotel is directly next to the Novello Theatre, which is currently playing Mamma Mia! The music from the performance is clearly audible in the room, especially toward the end of the show, making it difficult to maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
2. Room Size vs. Noise: While the king room itself is spacious and well-appointed, especially for a London hotel, the location is a major issue. The wall opposite the bed is adjacent to an elevator used by room service and housekeeping. Each time the elevator moves, it sounds like constant knocking on the wall, making it hard to relax. I was upsold to this room for an additional £30 per night, bringing the total to over $500 per night, with assurances that it would be quieter than my original choice, yet it ended up being anything but.
When I mentioned these issues at checkout, the front desk staff member claimed she had no idea what the ‘O5’ rooms were like. Having previously worked at The Four Seasons, I know staff are always aware of which rooms are noisier or less desirable. Being upcharged for a room with such significant noise issues felt unprofessional and, frankly, deceiving.
Overall, despite the hotel’s convenient location, I would not stay here again. For over $500 per night, I expected a much higher standard of service and comfort. This experience fell far short of the quality typically associated with the Waldorf Astoria brand. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as this stay did not meet the standards of the Waldorf reputation.

Staff are lovely but let down by the chain they work for.
If you read through these reviews you’ll notice a lot of staff are mentioned by name. That’s quite odd isn’t it? Well that is because staff are incentivised £10 for every name mention on Trip Advisor, and to be honest, making them effectively beg for a commission feels crass and de humanising. I have a few issues with this. First of all one of the loveliest staff members we encountered was the Scottish doorman who was wonderful with my little girl, but it’s not like he has a long enough interaction to be considered to be part of this scheme.
Myself and my 6yr old daughter had the Beauty & the Beast afternoon tea in the Homage Restaurant. We were served by Olga and Katerina (I think) which were the names given, but also by a third member of staff whose name wasn’t shared for reasons I do not know. The service was lovely, each part of the tea was explained, they were lovely with my daughter, nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and it was an unexpected treat to have a live harpist playing (advertised as a different day of the week)
A few issues: the menu says certain teas are ‘served in a special character’ which they were not which was a slight let down for my daughter, and something that could be easily be corrected by reprinting the menus. My bill was calculated incorrectly so I had to ask for another and when we used the bathroom there was no toilet roll holder and instead the toilet roll was wedged on the coat hook in the back of the door- really poor for the standard of venue.
For the staff I would give 5 stars, but for the managers of the hotel I would ask that you look at some of the finer details as forcing better reviews by effectively holding your lowest paid staff to a ransom is really poor and for me tainted my visit.

Thank you for highlighting the bathroom, which we will review and ensure the holder is back in place. Thank you for choosing The Waldorf Hilton and we look forward to welcoming you back soon. Beware of booking with points with this particular hotel.
I booked with 100% points almost a year in advance and upon the checkout was charged over $1,300 for two nights, on top of all the points they kept!
The front desk folks were very rude about this obvious mistake and refused to look into the matter – this is why I am leaving such a poor review.
The issue is still being resolved by Hilton International Guest Relations.
If it weren’t for this, I would have still given the hotel only 2 stars at the maximum – great location, but tired rooms and rude front desk staff (one particular older male who checked me out), breakfast only from 7am (so no food for you if you are flying out early).
Their concierge service could get 5 stars as Matthew, who helped us out with some bookings did an excellent job finding us tickets to some plays at the last minute.

Dear Dman_DW, Firstly thank you for highlighting our Concierge, Matthew, who provided excellent customer service during your stay. With regards to breakfast, room service is always available for very early breakfast requests. I am sorry, however, to read that there was difficulty when it came to using your Hilton Honors points for this booking and that you found the team unhelpful in resolving it whilst at the hotel. I understand you have since been in contact with International Guest Assistance. I do apologise for any inconvenience caused and I do hope you will still choose to stay with us when in London. What a lovely hotel. We were visiting as a big treat for our granddaughters 8th birthday Every member of staff (especially the trainee receptionist and doorman) were welcoming. Friendly and professional. She was thrilled to find birthday pillowcases, a little teddy and sweets on her bed. The bedroom was lovely with comfortable beds. Pillows and bedding and the bathroom had a luxury feel with good quality products Breakfast was well cooked and plentiful and our granddaughter was thrilled to have a non alcoholic cocktail in the bar. A perfect location to enjoy theatres , Covent Garden and many other delights that London has to offer

A classic hotel in a central location to the many sights of London with easy access to public transport. The staff were very helpful and attentive. We arrived early in the morning after an overnight flight from the US and were expecting to leave our luggage at the hotel until the 3:00 check in time. However, the front desk staff gave us an early check in, which allowed us to refresh after a long flight, which was most welcome.
The doorman, Douglas Reid, was a delight, greeting us warmly each day and making us feel most welcome. He was extremely helpful by pointing us in the right direction for our many walks around the city, or getting us set up with a cab when needed. A big thank you to Douglas who made our stay most memorable; his good humor and kindness are most appreciated.
The breakfast buffet was well worth the price, offering a wide variety of choices from the buffet, or selected menu items from the kitchen.
The room itself had the classic look of an old hotel but was up to date with its decor and amenities. The biscuits (cookies), chocolates and cans of water were a nice treat when coming back to the room to regroup.
We will definitely plan to return to the Waldorf Hilton the next time we visit London!

Excellent value. Great location. Front desk not so friendly but I looked forward to the smiles on our doormen’s faces daily. Concierge recommendations were limited.
Room was clean and roomy. We had two single beds that seemed larger than a U.S. single bed. Bathroom quite large. Rooms are very quiet—no street traffic or neighbors are heard. Robes and slippers are in the closet.
