The 2 stars were for the staff who were wonderful and the position of the hotel which was excellent. The building itself is lovely as is the inside of the hotel. Unfortunately it went downhill from there. We were given an extremely small room on the top floor with tiny windows you could not look out of. My husband is claustrophobic and felt really uncomfortable. Within an hour of being in the room the air conditioning unit started leaking which just got worse over the 2 days making the carpet sopping wet and smelt funny. To add insult to injury when doing our room check when leaving we found a dirty old sock and a wrapper behind the chest of drawers so the room had obviously not been cleaned. Reported to reception and they said they would deduct 25% from the bill when in fact they deducted £25 from a £300 bill which was not what was offered. Would never return this is not the standard we were expecting.

We stayed here for my birthday! Note that if you are arriving by car, there is parking around but be sure to look carefully for payment instructions and also, you will need to pay congestion charge. This historical, beauty of a hotel was a pleasure to stay at. Like I said it was my birthday, and we had not only been upgraded to a suite, but there was a surprise in the room! I was very grateful to receive that, and it was a lovely touch. Our room was E14, and as you can see from the pictures, it was absolutely stunning. The pillows were another level of comfort, we had a view of the High Commission of India across the road, which was lovely all lit up at night. I was wondering if road noise would keep us awake, but it didn't. We had a super night's sleep. There were lovely lighting features around the room. I loved the "his and her" sinks in the ample bathroom. Just stunning. We went down for drinks and had a lovely chat with the doorman, Doug. He was polite, friendly and funny. Every time a guest came along, he excused himself and went to open the door. He went above and beyond to make our evening even more special, so thank you, Doug! For breakfast, we went to the Palm Court and what a gorgeous place to eat! There was an issue with the ticketing system in the kitchen, so we did have to wait a very long time for our food, but as soon as the staff realised this, we had several apologies, from about four different members of staff, including a manager. There was a continental breakfast, where a staff member served you – rather than a buffet. And we ordered a full English and a veggie full English. Lots of food! Think this is the first time I've had halloumi with breakfast, and it was lovely. The coffee was delicious too. There was soft music playing in the background, which was very atmospheric. Overall, we had a lovely stay. Thank you.

The hotel is in a fantastic location and we walked to all the major attractions apart from the Tower of London. Tube stations are close by, we used the Holborn tube and walked 5-10mins to the hotel . About the hotel On check in I didn’t find the person on reception very friendly . Not the welcome I was expecting for a 5 star hotel. The hotel is okay, I’ve stayed at better Double tree hotels with better service and interior design . The service was hit and miss, especially at breakfast. We often placed an order and it wasn’t what was described on the menu ie avocado, chilli, red onion and lime but one day we would get red onion and the next day we wouldn’t . The coffee is served in mugs but with it being 5 star I was expecting cup and saucer ( China ware). I was not offered a latte etc and had to ask, again I wouldn’t have expected to do this for the star rating of the hotel. We had lunch one day and I nearly broke a tooth on the chicken and bacon it looked like it had been deep fried or it was sat under a hot lamp all day and had dried out My daughter found a long hair in her full English breakfast and was sent back on one of the days. We also had to chase up orders on occasion. We stayed in a two bedroom suite and it was nice and spacious but the decor was low key and not as plush as I was expecting . The bed was comfy but I noticed that you didn’t get a biscuit …getting picky I know but we paid £1500 for three nights so my expectations was up there!! Nobody on check out asked how our stay was which surprised me but my stay here has really put me off booking with them again. I was expecting wow and I didn’t experience it . As I mentioned earlier I have stayed in better 4 star Hilton’s…. but the hotel was nice and the location was great so I know some of the price for the room is also where the location is in London We made some great memories but we won’t be back

Stayed here for 1 night, I must say after staying in so many Hilton Brand hotels around the world this was a massive let down. I know Covid is playing a massive part in the way hotels are run now but as its not busy you'd think the service would be upto scratch. We went to the bar for a drink and being diabetic have sugar free drinks to be only offered slimline tonic is a joke. What bar nowadays doesn't keep stock of diet coke or zero? Breakfast this morning was table service for the full English, the poached eggs rock hard. Seemed like minimal staff of the restaurant floor so getting a refill of coffee was no no. As for the superior room it was smaller than a room at your average Premier Inn. The pillows were so thin they wasn't worth using I feel let down by the standards of this prestigious hotel that we've come away feeling deflated.

Firstly there was the lack of knowledge amongst the staff at checkin, we checked in Friday for 2 nights. Got to our room which is smaller than a room at premier inn but double the price. The room had paper cups with the tea making facilities, I assumed this was due to covid. Roll on next morning and a cleaner tries to enter our room at 9:00am, we had the lock on which stopped them. Literally 10 mins later I get a knock on the door from management asking me for my last name, I give it and they go away. I don’t hear anything else from them on this matter until after we went out for breakfast and came back to the room around lunchtime. Our key didn’t work and so I went down to reception and left my partner sitting on the floor outside our room for 15 minutes (this stay was to celebrate her 40th Birthday). When I finally got to reception they told me I was only booked for 1 night, but I showed them my Booking.com reference which showed 2 nights. They went into the office for 5 minutes whilst I waited at the desk. They came back and said my mistake had been sorted, I said it wasn’t my mistake but theirs and Booking.com mistake. They sorted my key and I went back up to the room. We left the room not long after to continue our stay, but when the returned at about 9pm our room had not been made up by the cleaners and we had no fresh towels or tea making facilities. I phoned down to reception the first time i got how answer so tried again, this time someone answered and I explained all the above. They said sorry and the would sort it out and would we like 2 free beers to make up for it, I obliged but said i wasn’t happy with the state of the room. 15 minutes later they came with the 2 beers but no fresh tea making facilities, in that time I’d also checked my credit card statement and they had taken payment twice for my stay. I told the person at the door could they bring me more tea stuff and ask the manager to call the room. No one returned our call or brought any tea facilities, I didn’t bother chasing as I couldn’t be bothered. Next morning at 7 I went to see reception on both matters, again I was told my mistake on the booking and an apology for the lack tea facilities and no clean of room. For a hotel of this price I don’t think I would stay again, I’ve had better service at a premier inn. To make matters worse it took my 10 days of chasing them for my credit card not have 4 payments taken off and only the 1.
