The hotel had the best guest service I ever experienced. The staff was stupendous with Tobias leading the group. I have traveled the world and have never been treated with such first class attention. The hotel was clean, centrally located and they offered delicious food. One example sums it up; we were leaving London on the morning of the Queen’s funeral and no cab’s were available. Two of the gentlemen escorted us and our luggage by foot to the Tube to show us how to get to airport. Thank you!

I’ve left it a few days to write this review in order to consider the following. I stayed at Dukes two weeks ago with my two daughters on our annual “mother/daughters bonding weekend”. This trip was booked months ago and twice prior I have spoken to the hotel about the restaurant and bar availability, and was twice reassured that as residents we didn’t have to reserve tables Upon arrival we were told that there were no tables available as they were all booked. After complaining we were informed that they could squeeze us in for an hour at 7pm! Our rooms weren’t ready (fair enough) so I asked if we could have a drink in the bar (this was approximately 2.40pm) to be informed that the bar was closed. Once in our rooms (which were really spacious and well equipped) we waited a good 40 minutes for our luggage to come to the room and we unpacked and hit the shops. On entering the bar at the allotted time we noticed lots of tables free for the entire hour we were there. I asked when the bar closed and was told 10.15pm! Upon our return after dinner at 11.15pm the bar was still open with drinks being served! The next morning breakfast was a shambles as we waited a good 30 minutes for the food to arrive only to find that items were missing and the toast arrived as we were finishing and about to leave. I asked for a cab to be told I’d have to get it myself as they would take 15 minutes to do it as staff were busy. Never and I mean never has any London hotel failed to hail a cab for a guest! The reception staff could have been a lot more helpful. I’ve stayed at many hotels in London over the years and this one does not deserve the status it presently enjoys. Needless to say I won’t be back

Great location for the hotel, but the facilities are in bad need of renovation (especially the guest lift which at times took us 15 minutes) and at £500 a standard room it begs the question where is the value for money, especially with so many new central london hotels…

While in London with family we scheduled a champagne tea at Dukes. We were very pleased with the selection as well as the vegan options. Dukes is tucked away and I would recommend if walking to preview directions due to spotty service

A long established hotel with an impeccable hideaway location. The name carries cachet. A place to confidently invite guests, particularly to meet at the renowned Dukes Bar. On the downside the rooms are rather worn and in need of stylistic updating. Not cheap, but given its location, and the cost of other hotels in the vicinity, it is good value.

We recently spent 4 nights at this lovely hotel, and I certainly am confused reading the other less-than-stellar reviews. This is a small, quintessentially British hotel around the corner from the Ritz, in the Mayfair/St. James area, that is located very close to most of London's most famous sites. Is it expensive? Of course it is. London's one of the most expensive cities in the world. You can't even breathe for free in London. But compared to many other London hotels, it's reasonable. The rooms are not large in the American sense, but people, this is Europe. Most of the hotel rooms are smaller than what you are used to. Our room was a junior suite that was definitely "junior", but the room was lovely and the bathroom thoroughly modern and very well-equipped. The shower was incredible, with seemingly unlimited very hot water and huge water flow (clearly, they aren't worried about conserving water here). I'll nitpick and say that the room didn't have enough plugs/outlets, but it can't be easy to upgrade a building that is as old as these are. The service here was excellent, and everyone was unfailingly polite and helpful. Breakfast is excellent, and although the famous bar is somewhat stuffy (dress code for men, it seems, but not women), it's a lovely place for drinks. There are many excellent hotels in London, I'm sure, but this is one of them.

We have been to London several times and have stayed in some wonderful hotels, but this is by far our new favorite! The location is perfect, the rooms are well appointed and comfortable, and the service is absolutely impeccable. And the fact that Ian Fleming invented the Vesper Martini here is just icing on the cake! We will be hard pressed to ever stay anywhere else when we visit London. Can’t wait for our next trip!

Dear Ms. Lake, Thank you very much for such a lovely feedback. All our team is working very hard to make this hotel the best place to stay when you are away from home and warm words like these are the best gift we can ever get. I will definitely share your kind comments with the team. We are very proud of our hotel and its history and I am extremely happy to hear you enjoyed your time with us, and our famous Martini cocktail bar. I am looking forward to welcoming you back in the nearest future. Kind Regards, Clementina Scarpato, Guest Relations Manager

The only thing remarkable about this hotel is the location. It's in a nice secluded spot close to many great restaurants and attractions. However, if you're hoping to stay at an exceptional hotel, there are far better ones for the same exorbitant cost you can find here. Room: The room I stayed in was very outdated, and not a in charming way. The bed was small and uncomfortable with cheap linens and mattress. The television on the wall looked ten years old and very small. The hotel is fine charging you 400 pounds a night, but God forbid they modernize the television in the room. Room itself was very small. Unless you store your suitcase in the closet, you will have difficulty moving around the room freely. Service: Mediocre at its best. There was nothing exceptional about the service. The housekeeping was downright incompetent. We had empty wrappers on the bedside table, and housekeeping would not throw them away. What use did they think we wanted with an empty crisp bag? I'm a Hyatt Globalist member, and there was pretty much zero benefit for this as well. Don't expect anything extra as result. Breakfast was continental and quite plain. I will for sure never go to this hotel again. For Hyatt members, Great Scotland Yard is certainly the better choice in London. But surely youwill find better hotels in West London that offer better value than this over-priced excuse for a luxury hotel.

I booked a one night stay back in August 2021 (sorry for the late review but it did take some time to sort out my significant issues with the hotel with my booking agent, Buyagift). I have to say Buyagift were superb. I booked a one night package with Buyagift through their HotelHideaways offer. This INCLUDED breakfast. I contacted the hotel with my special requests and also paid extra for a room upgrade and also to 'half board'. All documented in emails. We arrived to be told that we had been allocated a room upgrade on the room upgrade I had already paid for - a really good start! Complimentary chocolates and fizz in the room - nice touch. Hence the 2 star review, not one. Breakfast Overcharge The booking said ‘half-board’. However the hotel charged us an extra £113.63 for something that should have been included. £113.63 for breakfast for 2 !!!! Dinner Overcharge We were expecting a 2 course dinner from a set menu. We picked exactly 2 courses each. Afterwards they told us that it was £44 discounted , not the 2 courses we were expecting. So we overpaid by £51.06 less the drinks (£14.50) we had so £36.56 overcharged. Accommodation Service Charge Overcharge This was £8.05 for which we have no idea what this is. On check out we protested but were told its all correct and we had to pay. I contacted my booking agent , Buyagift, who did an investigation and ruled in our favour refunding us the amount overpaid. Thank goodness we booked through Buyagift. Never again at the Dukes - really I would advise check your booking details and confirm at every stage of your stay what is and is not included. Also we asked for some milk to be delivered to our room - never arrived - not what you expect in a 5 star hotel!
