Stayed here on several occasions, but never again. One week previously I stayed at the Mercure Hyde Park, so Covid is not an excuse. Only 2 floors are currently open. Check in was slow, despite checking in online as a member of the reward scheme. Nothing is available in the Hotel,. There is a kettle in the room, but due to Covid there is no Tea or Coffee. You help yourself to this in the reception area and take this to the room yourself. Who knows how many hands have touch stuff, rather than just the maid when she makes the room up. Does not make sense. I had to enquire about the welcome drink, There is a fridge which is locked and this is handed to you. I paid for a double room including breakfast. The restaurant is shut, so didn't get what we paid for!! Breakfast comes in the form of a paper bag, containing a cold/dry/ hard crusty bacon roll and a sachet of brown sauce (sausage is also available) a yogurt and a chocolate muffin (very nice) as well as an orange juice. Now bearing in mind a week earlier I had a full English cooked at the Mercure Hyde Park (cost me slightly less too for the night). Now to the room, OMG what a dump. Tiny isn't the word. Paid for a double bed, celebrating 30th wedding anniversary, we got single beds pushed together with a double duvet, again not what was paid for. The Tv was at a funny angle to the bed. We both had the worst nights sleep either of us can remember having in a very long time The toilet seat in the tiny bathroom was at an angle of 45degrees to the toilet. the shower head fell of the wall. An absolute disgrace. At 10am,whilst eating the godawful breakfast, the maid is banging on the door, asking at what time we were checking out. We went to check out at 11am which was fine and asked to store our suitcases as we wanted to explore London before our onward travel at 4pm. Now we get bags aren't allowed to be stored due to Covid. (yes really). So one person is not allowed to carry his own luggage into the store room and collect it later. After a moan, we were told we could keep our room until 3:30pm. I advised that the maid had already been banging on our door, so if we are keeping our room, she doesn't go in. The Receptionist assured us she would have a word with maid about both the banging on our door, and that we are keeping the room till 3.30pm Now the worst bit. On collection of our bags at the agreed time, we were shocked and astounded that in a hotel that's not functioning properly and blaming Covid that the maid had prepared our room for the next guests. Beds made, clean towels, new shampoo etc. How can this be right? Our cases were exactly were we left them, so no way had that room been cleaned to any standard, let alone covid secure. The Hotel should not be open, guests are expected to pay for services not received. My advice stay at the DoubleTree further down the road, where we had a lovely meal and a couple of drinks. This coming from until now a loyal to Accor customer. Shocking hotel and service from staff who like the customers really don't want to be there!!!

The location is excellent short walk to Russel sq tube good for Leicester sq /Covent garden, room reasonable size, nice arm chairs, a shower with no power & cold water, I was on the 4th floor. If you love a hot shower don’t stay here. Me I loved the location more!

We checked In Early evening for 1 night stay. Asked about taxi for the following morning to be told just see us at reception. Got up to room to find a kettle but no tea facilities. Rang reception to be told you have to ask at reception for tea etc because of covid. You could have told us that when we checked in!!! In the morning went down to reception who told us we’d never get a hackney as there was so few of them, so being naive we let them book us two cabs. Took half an hour of us stood outside and during that time loads of hackneys went passed!!! Don’t see the need to lie to guests who aren’t from London unless someone has a special arrangement with a taxi firm!!! Room was ok, found a ladies earring on the carpet by bathroom so guessing not thoroughly cleaned. Bed was very soft which I was fine with but the other half didn’t like. Was too bouncy for his liking. The view was the back of the hotel with loads of air conditioning units. Also loved the early morning hoovering outside In the hall. No chance of a lie in. I like Mercury hotels but I wouldn’t stay at this one

Absolutely shocking stay! I actually didn’t stay after trying 3 different rooms due to the damage and decor in the rooms. The reception didn’t seem to care about the quality of the rooms and said there’s no such thing as 4* in a pandemic!!! I didn’t end up staying at this hotel and left to check into the holiday in Bloomsbury which was super clean and great service! I’ve emailed the area manager/General manager twice with no reply and also contact Mercure Head office again with no reply?? Very sad and will never book a Mercure hotel again
