The Mecure hotel was a wonderful stay. As a key worker through this pandemic, I wanted to just get away from where I live and just rest my mind and body more than anything else and the Mecure offerend me just that. A quiet and peaceful room. The room I was given overlooks the main road..double glazed so you cannot hear a thing.. good blackout curtains for if you wanted a nap during the day..the hotel itself was very very clean and comfortable and you can visibly see staff sanitizing everything at reception which makes you feel safe that things are clean. The room is very spacious and tastefully decorated with comfortable chairs to sit on. . The front desk staff were very friendly and hospitable. The location is great it's a few min from Russel square tube and Holborn tube.
I have just spent 3 nights at this 4 star hotel and my partner and myself were shocked that there was no hot water for either a bath or shower. I complained at reception but was fobbed off with a weak excuse as to the reason. Speaking to other guests they had the same problem. A four star hotel in central London should at the very least be able to provide its guests with hot water, needless to say we will not be going back!
The hotel was clean and staff pleasant and helpful, our room was small which was ok for one night but looked out onto a brick wall and a mucky back area of the hotel so it was dark and gloomy. We chose this hotel as the breakfast was included, this turned out to be in a grab bag and consisted of a croissant, jam, mini choc muffin a carton of orange and a yogurt, far too much sugary stuff and very disappointing, lots of restaurants still closed in area so we travelled to our next destination for a decent breakfast. The hotel had also run out of hand towels which surprises me as it was not full. As NHS workers we realise the implications of the pandemic but this should not be used as an excuse to short change visitors.
We booked a superior king-size room for our anniversary weekend. Our room was very small, nothing like the photos on their website, it was also dirty, dirty bedding, dirty fridge and a stained chair. We did tell the receptionist who came across quite rude, she did change our room but never once apologised. Also the restaurant and bar are closed so no breakfast, instead it's a grab and go bag which hardly contained anything, you also have to get your tea and coffee from reception. No fridge in our 2nd room and no coffee machine like it states on their website. The website doesn't say anything about no breakfast being available when you pay. Very poor and certainly not a 4* hotel. Bathroom was nice and clean however 1 towel for 2 adults 🙄 apparently no cleaners if you stay less than 6 days and you cannot leave luggage safely on your check out, which for us is a pain as we have something booked on our last day and I checked on their website before I booked which states you can safely leave luggage.…
A good location within walking distance to theatres, museums and other of attractions, although public transport is readily available. The rooms were clean and comfortable although on the smaller side. Staff were helpful. Breakfast choices were very good. The one downside is the proximity to hospitals, meaning a lot of sirens .
