Now I have to start off with a complement. I stay in a lot of hotels particularly in London and comparatively speaking the staff here are very pleasant. Secondly, if you want to be near the East End of Oxford Street and your alternative accommodation is a cardboard box then give this a try. Its neighbours are posh and Paul... More

Staff is very rude, unprepared and unhelpful. The building is very old and run-down. It was under renovation and this meant that they were unable to offer breakfast internally, they sent us in a sort of awful and dirty coffee bar beside. Wifi doesn’t work in the room. The worst thing is the following: at the check-out, they asked me... More

I picked this hate because I was a little late booking my 1 night stay in London. All my usual options were either full or very expensive. This one wasn't exactly cheap but it was not totally unreasonable (109 pounds without breakfast). The location was good for what I wanted (I prefer to walk if possible) and the website looked... Received a phone call at 2.30 just as we were about to get a train to London for a gig to say that our room at this hotel was no longer available due to flooding! They offered an alternative hotel a distance away- very disappointed - a pattern here I think as there were still rooms available at a higher... More

Booked this hotel well in advance of our arrival date (1 night stay) and was called the morning we were due to check in, having already arrived in London, to be told the hotel has cancelled our booking, citing 'maintenance' problems with our room so it was no longer available. Having read some reviews for the Cheshire Hotel, this appears... More

I booked this hotel 2 months in advance but at check in I was told that I could not have the triple room I had booked. We ended up staying in separate rooms, one had been refurbished and the other not. Neither rooms had the facilities available as stated on the website (no tea/coffee making facilities, no hairdryer, no tv,... More

I booked the Cheshire about a month before I was due to stay and was very surprised when they phoned me the evening before I was due to arrive to say they were cancelling my booking. The reason given was that some floors of the hotel were being refurbished and that my room would not be available. They offered to... More

Booking this hotel as all others in the area we're fully booked was an appalling decision This has to one of the worst value hotels I have ever stayed in globally. It is also uncomfortable, noisy and just downright unpleasant Charging £5 an hour for wifi is beyond mean give how dreadful this place is. The tiny television barely works... More

Booked room with wi-fi, but was told it wasn't available on the floor I was on. The room was not clean, the decoration was at best tired and the room was stuffy and very small. The reception staff were quite rude and unhelpful. I travel extensively staying many different hotels across the UK and Europe and this is possibly the... More

This was the cheapest hotel we could find for an overnight stay. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful however the room was old, small and in serious need of redecoration as the decorations and furniture were ancient. That said it was clean (although due to the age of everything it did not look it) and the beds had... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
