Used to love this place. It is now old, not so clean, new staff. Noisy. My room was over priced, old, no view. No dtaff in the townhouse. Broken coffee machine (cold milk). The Harrods corner has become horribly noisy, busy and dirty. Stained furniture, stained rugs… old decoration.
The location of the hotel is fabulous! Everything is near and you can walk everywhere. However, the room was the biggest problem I encountered. The room was full of stains on the floor and couch and has a funky smell. When I went out for they day I was there, I left the “please clean room” sign on the door, however, upon my return, the room remained the same as I left. The elevator in the hotel was also rough, as it was old, when someone left the elevator gate open, the elevator would not work. Frankly, I’d recommend staying somewhere else, unless you will stay for a short period of time.
Came here for afternoon tea and it was a beautiful hotel and tea room. The tea was great and the scones were amazing! I didn't enjoy the sandwiches however, the ingredient combinations were not good. We barely ate any of them.
Love writing a review when we’ve had a nice stay & this hotel never fails us, the concierge team here are EXCEPTIONAL, special shout out to Graham & to Deano and I think their new starter is called Mathew he is just so helpful & obliging, I love the greeting upon arrival at this hotel, it makes for a brilliant stay, I also love the fact that when you talk to this team they speak so highly about their colleagues & are always so respectful about their hardworking Manager & leader of this business so a huge well done to you Solomon the General Manager, happy staff make for happy guests so thank you, we love the Capital, good luck to all of your new starters let’s hope they too settle in to your wonderful team, thanks for our most recent stay,
We chose the hotel for its proximity to the Knightsbridge tube station and we liked the look of the room and price as well. We had some warm weather and were unable to get the room AC below 24C (about 74F, not ideal for us for sleeping). Leaving a window open at night was unsatisfactory; other tourists importing loud high-performance cars that week made it impossible. Staff came several times, offered other rooms, but finally made an adjustment to our bill to show their goodwill and care to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible. I've dawdled 60 days to write and have forgot the names (Jessica at front desk? A concierge, maybe Clive?) of the staff who attended to us before management met us and agreed to make the adjustment. I hope they get due credit for kindly, patiently handling us. Thanks to all for leaving us with the good impression of British manners and humor. Side note: we travelled with friends who had a cool room. I told the concierge their room was fine but the bed would not suit all 4 people. His reply: "You tried it then?" was clever, not American sort of humor, and he won me with that remark.…
I’m sorry to say our afternoon tea was well below expectations. When we arrived at the hotel the receptionist seemed to sneer at us as though we shouldn’t be there, no greeting or welcome! The sandwiches were stale and the scones didn’t seem fresh. Also we had to keep asking for top ups of tea. Normally when we go for afternoon tea we are looked after and any additional sandwiches/tea offered. The service was lacking and not friendly. We will not return, there are much better places to go.
We truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms are quaint and comfy, providing everything we needed. The staff at this hotel are truly exceptional! Each and everyone of them was very helpful, kind, and friendly! The morning breakfast was served with friendliness and warmth and was a delightful start to each day. This hotel made our first visit to London very enjoyable. We highly recommend!
I spent a week at the Capital Hotel and enjoyed every single moment of my stay. The hotel location cannot be beat, being steps from Harrods, various restaurants and the Tube. The location was central enough to make exploring around London extremely easy and never too far of a journey. The room was spacious enough, beautiful and suited all of my needs perfectly. What makes this hotel stand out is the amazing, friendly and kind staff. The staff made the experience at the hotel so great, that I would never want to stay anywhere else when visiting London. The concierge, and bellmen were extremely helpful and always a friendly face. The housekeeping were top notch and the room was always PERFECT. I could not recommend the Capital Hotel anymore. I hope to be back soon!
My sister and I just spent a week at The Capital Hotel and it was probably the best hotel experience that we ever had. Although we did not spend much time in the room itself, there was no better place to return to after a long day of exploring. Our room was gorgeous, extremely comfortable and in the best location literally STEPS to Harrods and the Tube. However, what separates this hotel from the others that we've stayed at is the staff. As two young girls traveling alone, they always treated us with respect and were extremely friendly and attentive to whatever we needed. Whether we were coming or going, either early in the morning or extremely late at night, the staff in the lobby was a friendly face that we could always count on. When leaving we both talked about how much we will miss the Capital Hotel. We cannot wait to come back, thank you for the best week!…
The total amount my wife and I paid for our 7 night stay at the Capital Hotel was just over $3100 (Canadian$), or £280/night. Pricey, but it is Knightsbridge after all, seconds from Harrod’s, and that price included a breakfast that kept our bellies full for the day, saving us from having paying for full lunches during our packed schedules out. Our room met all the comforts one would expect from a big American chain, except this comes with British charm, and a cozy King sized bed and antique furniture. I’ve been in many other lodgings in the UK, and my expectations about loo water temperature and pressure was exceeded here. High marks to the wonderful cleaning lady who never missed a day. The staff here are delightful, polite, yet not pretentious nor snobby. With full disclosure, some of our fellow guests ranked on the higher end of the unfriendly snob scale - not the hotel’s fault, of course! High marks to lovely front desk clerk Jess and her colleagues. A tip of the hat to all the attentive doormen of the Capital, in particular, Graham, who kept us filled in on intel regarding the Platinum Jubilee Flyover, and Adrian, who was exceedingly complimentary of my Harrington Jacket (next time I’ll wear it around Carnaby St.!) One bit of constructive criticism: service could be dicey in the restaurant during breakfast. Some days terrific, though one day we couldn’t get coffee/tea, nor order something hot because service staff was back in the kitchen. Still not enough to lower a perfect score for this fine hotel. I hope to one day return soon!…
