Even by the standards of Forbes 5 star hotels the decor in the Lanesborough is well above the average and absolutely sumptuous. There are many positive aspects but I shall just mention a few. Even though we were in the "cheapest" rooms we were treated like royalty. We even had a butler. The breakfast service in the restaurant was amazingly fast. The chef must have cooked our meals as soon as the order came in as it was served within 5 minutes of placing the order. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and there was an remarkable example of service. We ordered wine with a very junior waiter. When the sommelier came round he respectfully told us he did not think the wine we had chosen was the best he had in the price range so brought a better wine at no extra cost. He even left us the glass of our original wine so we could compare. I have never encountered this level of service before. Before we arrived I told them I wished to practice my clarinet. They bought a music stand specially for me (at no cost to me) and found a private room where I could make as much noise as I wanted without disturbing anyone. How many hotels would do that! The competition is intense but this might be the best hotel in the UK.…
If you are looking for the best hotel stay in London then look no further, staying at the Lanesborough is like a dream. They have managed to combine a cosy family home feel with service that even outshines the Ritz. After staying at almost every 5* hotel in London we can honestly say no where has come close to the experience we have had staying here. The staff make you feel like they are your friends and that nothing is too much, especially Milton, George, Alisa, Anetta and Abbas who even walked our dog for us whilst we relaxed. No matter what time of day (or night) it is there is always someone to help you with anything you could possibly want. The food was incredible, the spa was outstanding and the room was magical. We have already booked to come back even though we live round the corner as we missed it the second we left. Amazing experience and we can not wait to come back, Muffin, Cannoli, Danielle and Alex x…
I walked into this beautiful hotel, the door men, Carl in particular were outstanding. Check in was a bit strange, it was my dogs 10th birthday, my mom was having surgery at the Cleveland Clinic next door and I asked if we could get a nicer room for the occasion, they whispered in front of me to see if I qualified, I did not. Room for £1300/night was average, best part was the hidden TV. They were also kind enough to have goodies for my dogs birthday. The most shocking part of the stay is that they sent up a visitor without a call, I was so scared, this has never happened in all the hotels I have stayed in. Conclusion, beautiful hotel, great cocktails, average food, nice spa, but snooty staff who only treat the guests staying in suites with respect.
The high point was meeting Victor at the door, the man’s a star and the greatest asset to the hotel. The Garden Room was an absolute delight with a relaxing cocktail and a small cigar to end the evening. Can’t say I was impressed with either the poor TV Signal nor the inoperative tablets that controlled everything badly 🙄 The bed was perfect, the bathroom beautifully appointed, the room we stayed in was OK The morning breakfast could not be better in such a beautiful setting. Oh! Did I mention Victor ☺️
As part of a whirlwind tour of the many grand hotels of London we were lucky to stay for a single night at The Lanesborough and it was the high point of our week. A quick circuit around the lobby and Withdrawing Room will make it clear that The Lanesborough is tremendously lavish and has a strong connection to history. That theme continues into the residential spaces and the rooms themselves. Each floor has a different color palate, and as we were in a Park View Executive Room on the 4th floor, our hallways were yellow with numerous Regency touches, textured walls and plenty of artwork. The room itself was not massive (it is London after all), but the corner window exposures brought in a lot of natural light, and the entryway created a nice buffer between the bedroom and the bathroom. The room was impeccable in its furniture, artwork and aesthetic. The bathroom had heated floors and towel racks, as well as another beautiful window leading to a small patio (not accessible) with blooming flowers. There was a shower/soaking tub combo and numerous bath products of the highest quality around it. The use of mirrors and windows was clever as the bathroom felt quite spacious despite only having a single sink and no separate water closet or separated shower and tub. The welcome chocolates, biscuits and fruit were greatly appreciated (and we appreciated that the latter was constantly kept full). I was really amused by the cleverly hidden television — I have seen TV risers and TVs disguised as paintings, but I have never seen an oil painting whose canvas rolls up to reveal the television and unfurls to hide it once you are done watching. It never failed to delight me. The service at the hotel is consistently world-class, and that starts with your butler. Each floor has an individual that is always available through the phone or various buttons in your room to assist you with whatever you might need. After a brief tour and efficient check in from Vincenza at the front desk we were greeted at the elevator by our butler for the stay, Monty. From small touches like tea in the morning and our preferred newspaper to somewhat amazing examples (repairing the sole of my loafer that had come apart while we were at the spa), we felt very taken care of throughout our stay. That extended to the wonderful concierge team that managed to retrieve items we had left at a different hotel’s restaurant the evening before — allowing us more time to enjoy the Lanesborough rather than running an important errand in the middle of our stay. The bar program was a huge standout. Some of the best cocktails we had in London were at The Library Bar on property with special mention of their take on the Vieux Carré, the Negroni as well as the lower-alcohol Belgravia Bloom with fruit-infused aloe and edible flowers. We loved the dark, but comfortable setting and the service, per usual, was excellent. We enjoyed dinner at The Lanesborough Grill with a friend during our stay and had a terrific time. The restaurant itself might be the most stunning part of an already beautiful hotel. Massive ceilings, a glass dome and extravagant, but calming decor create the perfect setting for any meal. The food was great with our favorite dishes being the coronation crab salad and the Cotswold white chicken. The entire experience was made even better by impeccable, personable service from Zilbe who helped us celebrate our friends' engagement and made the entire evening a tremendous pleasure. We also had breakfast in-room which felt like such a luxury due to the pre-breakfast tea and newspaper we were offered, and the lush room service table setup. Our meal was traditional (full english and eggs benedict) but executed perfectly. The only constructive criticism I can offer is that the doormen were a little underwhelming in terms of friendliness/help compared to some of the other properties we visited and stayed at (it may have just been because we were there during a rare heat wave). Part of this was likely due to the location of the hotel —- while it is perfectly situated for pedestrian access to Hyde Park or the Tube, it is kind of a nightmare for car traffic because of the prominent location. There is difficulty hailing cabs, and even for Uber, I would recommend determining what direction you are going in and making sure you are on the right side of Knightsbridge before calling it because turning around on that road can add several minutes to your commute. One other point on service, I was incredibly impressed by the level of name recognition our group received, especially considering the hotel has over 90 rooms and had plenty of activity while we were there. Sheehan at the spa, Monty and Zilbe were particular standouts, but everyone we interacted with on staff was professional, helpful and warm. Finally, I cannot write about our stay at The Lanesborough without mentioning the spa. It is, simply put, amazing. A large gym with all of the equipment you could want, half a dozen fitness classes a day to join, an indoor heated pool with pool service, beautiful, labyrinthine locker rooms with multiple saunas, a steam room, experience showers and a snow chute (a first for me, to shock your body before or after the sauna) round out the wellness facilities. The spa butler team was everpresent and I was amazed at how often the pool area was tidied while we were there. The restaurant at the spa offered a comfortable setting to sample a number of healthy options (mezze platter, smoothies and juices, salads etc.) and was a welcome break from the richer French and British food we had been enjoying around our stay. We have had a lot of really wonderful service experiences at hotels around London with The Connaught, 45 Park Lane and the Mandarin Oriental probably being the best, but the combination of impeccable service, an amazing food and beverage program and world-class spa makes The Lanesborough the hotel we plan to return to.…
We booked a meal in the Library Bar and from the welcome through to our departure the experience was first class and could not be faulted. The valet parking was slick and efficient, we were shown to our table and we were well attended throughout. The food and drink was superb and overall a great experience. ALL of the team were excellent but Victor on the front door was absolutely superb and a credit to the hotel. We will be back.
Fantastic afternoon tea! Vegetarian and gluten free options were great. Very attentive and friendly staff especially Nuno! My husband and I enjoyed our time here and hope we can come back every time we are in London. The tea room is also so gorgeous!
Stayed in a lovely suite for a week at April's end and was over-the-moon impressed by this elegant, friendly hotel whose staff is superbly welcoming and kind. Having a butler on call was helpful. The Hyde Park view was an ongoing entertainment. Concierge services were tip-top and much appreciated. Lilibet the cat was a bit standoffish but, as a feline, that is her privilege. Flowers throughout were stunning. I ordered a bouquet of my own and it was outstanding. Now, the flaw: I booked just at the time the hotel was changing chefs so cuisine was, well, lamentable. Both breakfast and room service were troubled although service was delightful. I’m returning for four nights in October brfore and after a Cotswolds gardens meander and am so looking forward to a grand stay.
The Lanesborough is another brilliant property in the Oetker Collection. When we entered the door for the first time, we were greeting with "Welcome Home" and it was not a cliche. We truly did feel at home during our stay. First, the concierge staff, headed by Simon, is professional, extremely knowledgeable, efficient and helpful in every way. Both before and during our stay, they went above and beyond. Housekeeping, room service, afternoon tea, butler service - all exceptional. Great service is expected at hotels on this level and the Lanesborough truly delivers across the board. Our rooms were warm, well equipped with every amenity and extremely comfortable. But, of course, the most valued staff member is Lilibet. She is the star of the show! What else can I say ... we will definitely return!…
Incredibly thoughtful, kind and well trained staff from front of the house to the service staff behind the scenes, thus the five star ranking. The concierge desk is staffed with a team of highly capable professionals like I've never seen in hundreds of hotel stays. Each floor has it's own private butler 24/7! Hotel facility is very old but in near perfect condition and immaculately kept with recent upgrades and remodels. Terrific spa and exercise equipment. I booked ten days through AMEX fine hotels and was assigned a fourth (top) floor room which was in great condition but very small (postage stamp sized) with a queen size bed that was very uncomfortable. There was a nice bath room (with heated floor) but no bath tub to my sweethearts disappointment. A maid told us that only suites have bathtubs, would have been nice to have after a day touring London. I would recommend this hotel as long as you are aware of these limitations. On another visit I would inquire about paying more for a suite or consider the near by Four Seasons Hotel. The location is superb for visitors and many very nice pubs and first rate restaurants in the area.…
