Wasn’t very impressed with many aspects of the hotel experience. The restaurant experience was a big let down - with limited option- poor communication and inefficient service of the kitchen staff. Staff have training needs, more variety with breakfast and maybe more staff recruited if unable to keep up.
Upon arrival as we were early we were greeted by Antonio on the desk and all I can say is what a breathe of fresh air. He made our experience everything and more and went beyond his duties to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We have stayed here before a few times in the last couple of years but I booked this visit being my partners birthday and Antonio put some lovely little cakes in the room on arrival and we had the most amazing room to make our weekend celebrations worth while. Ny daughter absolutely loved it. Thank you so much
We were upgraded to this hotel from the sister hotel (The Vanderbilt). The hotel is well located within walking distance of Londons major attractions & shopping. Staff are extremely helpful. Our room was a good size & clean. The only criticism of the hotel is how tightly guests are squeezed into the restaurant for breakfast.
Wedding anniversary and concert. Well situated for Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace. Good hotel, but pricy for the room, maybe because of the location. The size of the room and the tired looking bathroom are the only negative points. Still very enjoyable, thanks.
Lovely clean quiet room. We stayed on the 7th floor. Beds were very comfortable and we had a lovely nights sleep during our stay. Drinks at the hotel was a bit pricey but there is an excellent sainsbury local across the road from the hotel. Breakfast was good and varied. Excellent customer service from start to finish.
This is not a 5 star hotel. The rooms are old and worn down. The physical plant of the hotel has not aged well. There are too many guests for the number of staff. The only positive is the location. I do not recommend it for the price. If you are expecting high end service or rooms this is not the place. Not by a long shot.
This was my second but last stay at The May Fair. At £400+ a night, I would expect less tired rooms and more attentive service. At check-in I requested a quiet room, for which I waited a couple of hours. Turns out the room I was given on the 8th floor was adjacent to a housekeeping closet, whose doors were periodically slammed. Anything but quiet. The courtyard view was partially covered by giant cobwebs, which honestly was quite disgusting. The next morning a whole section of rooms across from mine were undergoing construction, with drills and all sorts of other noise as carpets were also replaced. Didn't they know that was about to happen when they placed me in this "quiet" room where I was trying to take online meetings? I then asked for another room and the request was accommodated, but having to move rooms mid-stay is never a nice endeavor. After four nights there, I asked if I could check out at 1pm instead of the regular 12pm check out and was flatly told "no, your room has already been requested by a guest." I've never heard of hotels offering prior commitments to specific rooms, but alright. Just thought a little flexibility after my ordeal would be nice, but I was wrong. Skipped breakfast because for £37+tax I could have four breakfasts at the Pret nearby. To sum up: location is great, but rooms are tired, some were noisy and staff is rather indifferent to your needs. I trust the money can be better spent elsewhere.…
Great location hotel. As always service and staff were great. Only negative point this time was the smaller selection of food at breakfast (bircher müsli, fresh fruits etc.) compared to pre-Corona days and the price asked for it. Room was also very crowded.
Perfect location for when you want to live central ! Lovely hotel and staff in general - the breakfast concierge (19/6) was arrogant and bossy to both guests and other staff members. Late check out is really nice (12 pm). Good breakfast and good room service selection of food
This place is a must stay whilst in London , the service and check in very easy and minimal fuss. The room was cool and clean and bathroom well equipped and stocked with all the essentials that a woman needs travelling alone
