This Iconic hotel has been on my ‘wishlist’ for many years and this year I finally fulfilled my dream and it didn’t disappoint !! My experience at the Savoy was absolutely awesome from the moment I walked through the revolving doors to the day I left ( sadly after 8 nights)..The staff were friendly and always willing to help you in whatever capacity was required.
My room was a Junior Suite with a river view no 516…and on entering the suite it was just magical. Well lit rooms with a warm welcoming ambience. Soft classical music playing on the radio was a nice touch. And of course the wonderful view of the Thames and its attractions….and at night the view was breathtaking!!!
The bed was extremely comfortable with good sheets and pillows. There was a small bar fridge which is always handy to have and above that were shelves for the cups and glasses. A coffee pod machine was provided along with teabags. On the bedside tables were always carafes of fresh water. Housekeeping was daily and the rooms were always immaculate with plenty of fresh towels for the bathroom which was enormous. A bath and a seperate shower and toilet . The shower had plenty of room and the toilet had a bidet.. Beautiful Penhaligon’s Savoy Steam toiletries …Plus 2 generous sized walk in wardrobes with plenty of hanging and drawer space. There was a beautiful desk with drawers so plenty of working space . It was always a delight to walk back into this suite after a long day of sightseeing..

Unfortunately two of the restaurants were closed for refurbishment but, the Savoy Grill and the Beaufort Bar and restaurant were open plus of course the American Bar which was a great place to spend an hour or two.Breakfast was served in the Beaufort restaurant where there was plenty of choice for either Continental or cooked options. There was a lovely reading room where guests could have a quiet read of the paper or free tea and coffee .. A waiter was always on hand to assist you if you wanted something different..

The location of the Savoy in The Strand is very central with just a short walk to the Embankment which is a great way to stroll along the riverside. It’s within walking distance of Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square , Westminster and various other places of interest along the way..

Overall the Savoy for me was all I expected and more.. Would I stay there again??…. Absolutely!!

Wow, wow and wow!
Staying at the Savoy isn’t just an experience; it’s a feeling, and unforgettable escape.

I took my mum for her 60th and we were nothing short of blown away by the service, the room, the food, the amenities- just all of it!

Firstly, we had the pleasure of being looked after by Ben for the duration of our stay, who was a breath of fresh air and smelled absolutely divine (sorry if we made you blush!). His customer service was impeccable, and we had flowers and balloons in the room which the Savoy had kindly got ready for us early due to arriving slightly earlier for a matinee performance. We drove up to the door and were greeted by extremely smart and friendly doormen who took my car keys and then said they would sort all our luggage and take straight to the room.
We then enjoyed some champagne in the reading room, which was some of the best I’ve had with complimentary nibbles.
We had food at the grill which was also next to none. The best part was when we returned from dinner someone had tidied up in between time, laid out all our toiletries and makeup neatly, slippers on white linen next to the bed, and even left some face cream on the bed to try (What a treat- we had only been out two hours!)

The room was absolutely stunning, palacious bathroom with a claw foot bath and his and hers sinks. The bed was so comfortable and the pillows were so good we have even brought our own from their suppliers since returning home!! A great array of mini-bar drinks and coffees as well as slippers, a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, moisturiser, shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, robes and even an umbrella should you need to use it. The Savoy really had thought about everything.

But what was the real star of the show was the breakfast. On the evening, we simply hung up our order on the door and what time we wanted it from the huge choice of breakfast options and at 10am prompt, we were greeted with a silver service breakfast straight to our hotel door, with extra hot beverages and pastries. It really was the best breakfast I have ever had and all from the comfort of our room. My mum had the Savoy Breakfast and I had the breakfast sandwich with the most incredible tomato and bacon jam with caramelised onion that I have ever tasted. High quality ingredients and freshly squeezed juices.

Checking out was a breeze, we simply left our luggage in the room and all was taken care for with our car and keys returned to us when requested.

I simply cannot fault a single thing about our stay and we will be excited to return at the earliest opportunity. Thank you to all the staff for the exceptional service provided and for making my Mum’s birthday the best she has ever had.

Wonderful way to experience London, even for a London. I took a pre-Christmas staycation at the Savoy and it was definitely an absolutely treat.

The check in was warm and friendly, albeit quite busy understandably when I arrived. And the reception area has a wonderful atmosphere with plenty of area for people to sit down. My rooms was simple but spacious and very tastefully decorated with high ceiling and desk space, seating and all the amenities needed. The bathroom was similarly well appointed with Penhaligons toiletries and a large deep bath.

When I arrived in the room there was a sweet handwritten note, and homemade mince pies.

From the room I was able to see the Thames, which was lovely in the evening and at sunrise.

The hotel is a stone's throw from so many great spots, including the Southbank, Royal Opera, Covent Garden and many theatre venues so it's easy to fill your days with a range of activities.

I had room service which seemed fairly priced for such a nice hotel. It was a little hard to get through, although given the Christmas period this was understandable.

I had drinks one evening in the main restaurant / bar which is very pleasant. With great drinks and an interesting atmosphere. I also had drinks in the American Bar which is a definite must for visitors, especially lovely is the piano playing. And the cocktails are impressive.

The gym is very nice. It's fairly small, but has all the equipment most could require, and it's immaculately clean with towels, water and protein balls.

There is also a small swimming pool.

The red lift is worth experiencing, as the oldest lift in London. Overall the Savoy is an absolute experience, especially at Christmas time and worth the considerable cost.

I booked two nights at The Savoy as a treat for my birthday, staying in room 749 which is a Superior Queen room with a view over the driveway/approach from The Strand.

Overall I had a lovely time. The staff were friendly (Arthur who checked me in on Friday was especially helpful and polite), the room was a good size with great amenities, complimentary mini bar, comfortable linens, lovely fully equipped bathroom - but there’s a handful of things I expected to be better given the hotel reputation and the price tag;

- the TV in the room is lower spec than expected, there’s no streaming apps or playback services and the cast function for sharing from my phone didn’t work. I didn’t expect to have to use my little phone screen to catch up on The Traitors whilst staying at a 5* hotel. For comparison Premier Inns have streaming app access on their in-room TVs.
- The room service dinner and breakfast weren’t mind blowing, small expensive portions and not very flavourful. The £5 room delivery fee is crazy especially considering the price of the food. It’s cheaper to get a deliveroo from 5 miles away than it is to get hotel food from 3 floors below. With the service charge on top as well, it feels like an unnecessary charge.
- The staff member who came to collect my room service dinner trolley around 23:15 on Friday night didn’t know how to collapse it, so he left and said someone from the room service team would be up in 2 mins to help. 30 mins went by and no one came so I collapsed it myself and left it outside the door so that I could get to bed. The trolley was still there in the morning so it seems no-one came at all.
- The napkins on the breakfast room service were stained.
- No toilet brush in the room bathroom.
- Everything was set up for two ie room service, turndown, and I was staying alone. This didn’t feel particularly attentive. While I’m content travelling alone someone else might have found it upsetting to be presented with a set up for two as a solo person.

For the price paid I did expect to be fully satisfied, and unfortunately I wasn’t on this occasion. Whilst it was a nice experience I probably will not be returning.

I have been staying at the Savoy for over 30 years. I stopped staying here about 10 years or so ago after their transition to Fairmont as I found that their service in general became rather ordinary like what you may expect at a chain marriott type hotel. At this visit I was especially pleased with the concierge, Jonathan, who was able to procure tickets for me to the sold out “Monet in London” exhibit at the last minute. I really enjoyed my very bright river front room facing the scenes Monet had painted decades ago. My late night dinner after the Opera at the Gordon Ramsey Savoy Grill was simply divine. One area of improvement I would recommend to the hotel is to better train their checkin staff. I found that they lacked even very basic information like answering what services the butler I had been assigned provided. I realize that they are not the concierge, but not knowing simple things like location of the National Gallery, that is quite unacceptable since it is practically a couple of blocks away.

First time staying at a 5 star London hotel and I am so glad I chose this. From the first interaction at the door, through reception and every member of staff they were friendly , happy and genuinely welcoming.
The room was not a massive upgrade in size over a 400 a night hotel, but the finishing absolutely was. Nesspreso coffee , fresh milk, complimentary coke / tonic and beer, fresh drinking water out with more in the fridge. Large tv ( didn’t use) , complimentary face scrubs, ear buds, make up remover.
Mince pies and a handwritten welcome note in the room just finished off the touches that make this hotel great.
We returned in the evening to find the bed turned down and slippers waiting for the morning. Also a shoe cleaning service overnight if you choose to use it.
The morning swim in the 1.2 m pool was very warm, and if you want a proper swim they have a jet stream to fight against. The gym looked well stocked although I didn’t use that.
Steam room and sauna are in the changing rooms( not mixed) but towels are plentiful, and the large shower was a treat.

After a short explore around the hotel we had breakfast in the Ramsey river restaurant, and poached eggs were exemplary, up with the best.

We were met when checking out with offers for bag storage qnd checking out was easy. I loved it.

We were staying at the Rosewood on Holborn but had to relocate for 1 night when they had a major power failure. We chose the Savoy because we had spent many years staying for up to 10 days at a time in a Luxury King room at this hotel pre-COVID.

Since we were going to be reimbursed by the Rosewood we chose a similar size room of 35m2 and boy were we disappointed. The room was very tired and uninviting, the bathroom consisted of a single basin and shower over a bath (which we later discovered leaked water all over the floor). We were informed when we were being taken to the room that the hotel was undergoing renovations, so I went down to reception to try and arrange an alternative room or upgrade without success, although at 9.30pm after we had gone to bed the reception phoned and offered us an upgraded room which we declined.

The Savoy is a grand old dame with a most impressive history and a wonderful location but since being incorporated into the Fairmont brand it appears they no longer go out of their way for regular past clients. It is certainly long overdue for a full renovation and cannot be recommended until that is complete. The Rosewood offers far more luxurious rooms at significantly less cost.

Dear richard_s_NZ, We were pleased to welcome you to The Savoy during the power failure incident at the other hotel, however sincerely apologise for the disappointment of the room allocated for you on the day, that we note was a different category room to the Luxury King room you have previously enjoyed. Due to the high occupancy, we were unable to provide a room move reflecting your preference for a walk-in shower, until late in the evening, which wasn't ideal for you sadly. With the most recent major renovation at the hotel having completed in 2010, The Savoy has indeed confirmed a new stage of refurbishment of rooms and suites, “as part of a continued commitment to invest in the property and to ensure the best experience for guests”. The first new rooms and suites will be revealed in August 2025. We very much hope, as a longstanding and loyal guest of The Savoy that you will have the opportunity to return after this date to experience the new look and feel. Warm regards, Franck X Arnold, Managing Director

We had been so excited to spend our honeymoon at the Savoy, from our arrival nothing was too much trouble, after an early flight the staff managed to get us checked in early which really helped, giving us a tour of the highlights and history of the hotel. The level of service is top class mainly down to the expertise of the staff and their genuine aim to please. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud and the facilities were top grade. The room was turned down twice a day and we never saw anyone in the corridors it was unreal to come back to such a comfortable and clean room with the fluffiest of towels!! Both the Beaufort and American Bar were beautifully decorated and stylish and the bar tenders were so knowledgeable, Paolo in the Beaufort Bar gave us an over and above experience by ensuring we had his special cocktail brought to the American Bar personally delivered, this is what you hope for in such a classy hotel and they don't disappoint.
The food is delicious we experienced breakfast at the famous Gordon Ramsey Grill. The Riverside Restaurant is beautifully furnished and luxurious, a shout out for the homemade granola and honey as I have never tasted the like of it. The Quintessential Breakfast was fresh and hot, fresh orange juice and tea served using bone china just makes everything taste better!!
Gordons Grill was superb yes it is dearer than the average dinner for two but worth every penny to eat such beautifully prepared food cooked to perfection, we chose the Haddock souffle to start, Cote de Beouf to share main and chocolate souflle, it was stunning. Not only the food again the surroundings were decorated to perfection stylish and well thought through.
The meal was supported by the incredible Sommeliers Keith and one other who chose the most delicious white wine and a port expert who gave us a taste of a 20 year old port (of which we had to buy a glass) great salesman. Not forgetting the organic beer my husband had not tasted the like of it. Dear? Yes, worth it? absolutely.
To top it off my husband bumped into Gordan and had a pic along with the very charming Thierry who waved his French charm and expertise over the whole evening. Overall a totally unforgettable honeymoon. Thank you to all the staff.

I bought my husband a night at the savoy as a 50th birthday gift as it was on his bucket list. Needless to say it didn’t disappoint. After watching the series on TV I was intrigued to stay and experience. It’s possibly the only time we ll stay as at 1200 a night its a luxury. We trained in to London and as we approached the Savoy the doorman instantly greeted us and took our cases, even though it was only 11am. We spoke to reception who advised they had upgraded our room as it was my husbands 50th. We went off sightseeing until our room was ready at 3. When we arrived back the receptionist actually showed us up to our room to give us an orientation of the hotel and room . (Wow) the hotel had our birthday balloons in the room, and not long after being in there they brought a cake to the room. We booked afternoon tea in the Thames Foyer which was just incredible (they don’t even let you top up your own tea). As our server boxed up our left over cakes I happened to mention how delicious a particular cake was, when we eventually opened up the box the next day we found our left over cakes in there and 2 of the chocolate ones we particularly liked- it’s attention to detail like this that make this place special ). In the Thames foyer they also brought a happy birthday cake out for my husband as the pianist played the song and it’s just magical . Later that evening we d booked into the American bar for cocktails , when we were greeted with a menu a glass of champagne was also brought over for both of us with them saying they heard someone was celebrating a special birthday . The service is just subtle and seem less . The cocktails were insanely good as was the service. (Even though it was a particularly busy night the staff make you feel like you are their number one priority) .

We were also impressed with the turn down service at night, leaving water both sides of the bed, slippers and face balm.

As our room was huge we decided to book breakfast on our room the next morning (as recommended by reception as a good option). We ordered a hot meal each , yoghurt and fruit and pastries . It arrives on its own table with its own oven. If I say it’s the best breakfast I’ve ever had I’m not lying .

So one ticked off my Hubby’s bucket list and i can’t stress enough how utterly subtly amazing the savoy is. Every staff member adds something .

If you can stay - do it 👍

Savoy has totally 'wow' us from the moment we checked in. Each and everyone of the staff that we met were warm and engaging.
Special mention to Nitsa for assigning us a beautiful room specially decorated with dine touches to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We had a great afternoon experience at Thames Foyer and very well taken care of by Sai.
The dining experience at Savoy Grill was amazing too! Every dish was served to perfection.
Every restaurants that we dined at actually knew that we are celebrating our anniversary and gave us nice surprises.
Housekeeping team were very meticulous and pay attention to even the smallest details. Many fine touches will shown during turn down.
Thank you for making our stay so special and we definitely will be back if we are back to London.
You have indeed turn many of our moments into wonderful memories.
This is definitely the best hotel that I have stayed in London!

Hello Ingrid, I checked the website and this is what it says: "Reservations are available for in-house guests only. Walk-in policy applies for all external guests. Dress code: smart casual." I'd probably call them before, tell them you book-in dates, and see if they will let you make that reservation in advance of you actually checking in.
