I went for a champagne tasting that was well done. But wandered about and met Loretta who runs the dining room. I was staying at the Connaught nearby - and the look and feel of Claridges is quite the contrast. Very "Poirot" - but the service equally welcoming and a bit less of a circus in the bars than the Connaught - which has become a bit of a hot spot for gawkers.

Hotel's Favorite
Claridge’s has always been one of the top hotels in London but let’s face it, over the years, it had begun to get tired. Not anymore! The hotel has been renovated top to bottom and is also expanding. Claridge’s advantages have always been extensive. It’s location in the center of Mayfair can’t be beaten and it has always oozed charm and class. The staff has always provided top notch service and it’s bar is one of the best in the world. This is why it has been a classic for almost a century. These strengths remain. The hotel, however, had been in need of renovation because the rooms, while classic and charming, has become dated. In addition, the hotel lacked a spa facility. The recent renovation fixes all of this. The rooms now are the best of any city hotel that we have been too. They are now truly beautiful in every respect. The designers have been able to achieve the impossible and have balanced modernity and tradition with perfection. The room facilities are first class with stunning modern bathrooms, amazing showers and air conditioning that can finally hold its own with global warming! The design however retains the hotels Art Deco traditions with beautiful parquet wood floors and attention to detail throughout. Claridge’s has regained its position as the finest hotel in London and indeed has to be a contender on any list of finest city hotels in the world!

Response from Paul Jackson, General Manager at Claridge's
Responded Aug 22, 2022
Dear Five star T, I was delighted to read your thoughtful and constructive review and am so pleased you approve of the restoration and refurbishment project that we have undertaken in recent years. There has been an incredible project team and a host of talented craftsmen and women deployed on this exciting programme, who have had the responsibility to ensure the results met the needs of the modern day traveller, whilst retaining the heritage and DNA of the hotel, and I know they will all be incredibly proud to learn that you approve of the end result. This has been a labour of love, as well as a huge responsibility and I cannot thank you enough for your kind words. Needless to say, we look forward to welcoming your back to Claridge’s on your next trip to London. With all good wishes, Paul Jackson General Manager

I took my wife and 8 month old to London for several days and stayed at Claridge's. Although London is full of luxurious and high-end hotels, you'd be a fool to stay anywhere but Claridge's. The staff was attentive, the food is delicious, the architecture is stunning and the drinks are to die for. Everything is clean from the top to bottom and the staff always went above and beyond. They even left us little surprises in our rooms each day. We felt like we mattered and were 'part of the family'. Couldn't recommend this hotel enough.

I went for afternoon tea at Claridge's with my partner for a belated Christmas present. Having sampled a good number of afternoon teas at various places in the past couple of years and on recommendation, I was eager to try this one. The room where we were seated was OK but felt a little dated and tired, however the service was really good, we never had to wait around for tea refills or offers for extra food. The sandwiches were delicious so we were pleased to be offered another serving. I particularly enjoyed the egg mayo and the chicken sandwiches. Even the ham and mustard sandwich which is usually my least favourite as I'm not a massive fan of mustard, was tasty! For me, the scones were the star of the show, I could have eaten another 4 or 5! The pastries were also nice but didn't compare to the scones for me. Overall, the food and service was good but maybe a little more expensive than it should be for an afternoon tea. Still a nice experience and one to tick off the list so it is worth giving it a go!

Extraordinary!!! I don’t now where to start! I can’t stop talking about the service, the amenities, the room, everything from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out was exceptional! The room was breathtaking and super clean, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The bar, Graziano, Ilona and Lucas were over the top Amazing! Graziano remembered my drink of choice each night. It was such a magical stay, the service is unparalleled! The connoisseur as we departed checked my flight, made sure we had our coffee and bake good. They made us feel like GOLD! Claridges is one of the BEST hotels in the world! The service cannot be best! I will be back again!

The hotel is nice and the staff are great -- but there's something that was missing for us about the experience at Claridge's. Even with a very attentive staff, the hotel is a bit impersonal. The lobby is not at all inviting. We had dinner at the Foyer restaurant and the food was awful, though very pricey.

Dear Marsha R, Thank you for your thoughtful review following your recent stay. I was extremely sorry to learn of your disappointment when dining in The Foyer and Reading Room and that you were not impressed with Claridge’s Bar, for which please accept my most sincere apologies. I was also most concerned to read that you felt that the atmosphere at Claridge’s was somewhat impersonal, despite the warm, attentive staff. My hope remains that you will choose to visit us again one day so we can rekindle your trust but, in the meantime, I send you my renewed appreciation for your candid feedback which I have, of course, shared with our Culinary Director and Claridge’s Bars Manager. With all good wishes, Paul Jackson General Manager
