Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.

Bought on Buyagift so got a discount but still paid around £170 so lot cheap. Tiniest spa ever. Changing rooms cramped with one toilet and shower. Not a hand towel or make up remover in site. A bench that seats 2. Was packed with 3 ladies in it. Staff not attentive. Nothing explained or shown around facilities although not much to explain and shown. Would have been helpful to know that one jacuzzi we thought was broke as was so few bubbles was for pregnant ladies. Prosecco was warm, would not expect this in a five star hotel. Massage was the worst I have ever had. Told my lady 3 times I want more pressure as it felt like she was just tickling me and could not be bothered and she actually told me me we don’t do deep tissue. I told her I never asked for that, I just wanted to feel the massage. Every time I complained she actually did improve. My friend on the next bed had the opposite and her massage was too firm so this just highlights that my lady was not doing it properly. First time I have not tipped after a treatment. Would not recommend to anyone. Go to spas in London 2-4 times a year so it’s not like I don’t know what to expect.

Really lovely hotel with beautiful rooms - very good size too. The location is perfect and the staff are extremely welcoming. Food and drink was great too and reasonably priced. Definitely the best hotel we've stayed in in London!

We first visited the Athenaeum in 1999 when our two oldest sons were 8 and 10, then in 2007 again with our youngest - then 6. This week the youngest now 18 was with me in London. The host is the same warm gentle giant of a man - Jim. Hospitality is an art and Jim is truly an artist! Enjoy your time in London and be sure to say hi to Jim....

If you're looking for a place that's in the thick of what's best about London, look no further than the Athenaeum. The bus stop is just a few short steps away. The park is across the street. Everything is just a short ride away.
