My wife and I stayed at this apparent 4 star Hotel for our wedding anniversary. We were staying in the room overlooking the River, on the first floor. First night was fine, no issues. On the second night, we heard incessant music noise coming from the restaurant below our room. We phoned reception twice to ask the restaurant to turn down the music slightly. 20 minutes later, no change. We then went to the restaurant and spoke to an incredibly rude and arrogant man (Medin) at the bar, who not only refused to turn down the music, but essentially told us to change room if we didn't like it. The less said about moronic staff like that, the better. Under educated and underpaid, they have a sense of false ego that perpetuates throughout their very existence. We then asked the reception staff (Rafin) to speak with him and the restaurant manager, he kindly obliged but they refused to listen to him too. Rafin also offered us another room, but it didn't have the same river view we paid for so we refused it. He was then kind enough to offer us a suite given that we were only staying one more night. Ahmed was kind enough to help us also. So long story short, it completely ruined our hotel experience, having to pack mid way through our anniversary stay. I highly encourage the management to commend Rafin and Ahmed, and as for Medin, he needs some lessons in etiquette. Because he turned down a simple request (as did his manager), they've just cost their host hotel an otherwise fine review. Won't be staying here again, the rooms were advertised as sound proofed, they clearly aren't. I'd rather stay somewhere where the guests are treated with some measure of dignity and respect.

I have stayed here probably 6 or 7 times. To have a hotel of this quality within an easy taxi ride of Central London with these spectacular views and at such a price point could have something to do with it. The river bus runs from its quay which will take you on a spectacular voyage into the heart of London. Having been to Olivos's in Victoria last night an option was to stay in SW1 as I did last weekend. Differential pricing meant the cost had become ridiculous. Even with the taxi cost I paid half last night at the Rafayel what was being asked for in lesser quality SW1 hotels. Checkout was at 11.00 and I had time for a coffee before I left in the Banyan with its amazing river views. They are still advertising their former free shuttle service to Clapham Junction which was brilliant but has now ceased. I had to get a black cab. Even so the price point is hugely competitive and the hotel is beautifully appointed. Highly recommended

I waited a few days to write this review because I wasn’t totally sure if I was happy or not. To start off the hotel itself is lovely we’ll decorated and the room was lovely. The emperor suite had an amazing view with large windows and the hot tub was amazing with the suite being bigger than most whole apartments in London it was great to have space. However the room had its faults first off the lighting controls and aircon/underfloor heating controls seemed to have a mind of their own and didn’t want to do what you told it with no real instructions how to sort it, however the smart thing was in I could control the lights through the TV set which is what I resorted to doing. The built in roof speakers didn’t seem to work but wasn’t a major issue for me as we just listened through the TV set but still would have been nice to have, there were very minor things that didn’t affect my stay but I feel shouldn’t really happen when we paid the ammount we paid small things such as the curtains hanging off on some hooks so I had to play around with them to block all the light out, a hole in one of the robes in the room, speakers not working and underfloor heating controls not seeming to work. Again these small things didn’t annoy me enough to let it ruin my stay but thinking back on it when I was paying 250 pounds for a one night stay these things should be perfect with no faults. Room service food was really tasty and fast delivery considering we ordered it not long before that menu was ending we were pleased however we only got sent up one set of cutlery with it when we ordered 2 meals, it was finger type food so wasn’t a major issue but again not ideal for 5 star and the price. I ordered some extras for the room such as rose petals candles etc which was a nice touch and the hotel staff did do it at last minute notice which I’m very appreciative of however 12 pound to rent 11 led candles is a bit steep given the size of the suite you’d barely notice 11 candles I was a bit disappointed with that but again small thing that didn’t ruin the stay. Football was on that day and it was quite noisy from the bar but calmed down fairly early so didn’t bother us. The only noise complaint I would have is the noise of what I assume were cleaners in the corridor at 8 am hoovering and banging around and talking really loudly not what I want to wake up too at that time of the morning on a one night stay, room offered very little soundproofing. The staff were al very pleasant and lovely to deal with the guy on reception was great and anything I asked he was happy to help however he didn’t seem to have the answers to a lot of things and had to contact someone all the time, but lovely guy and he was a great help. What really brought the stay down for us was the spa (one of the main reasons we went). After check out we wanted to spend some time in the spa I had asked them about it when I booked the room when I checked in and when I checked out however when it came to it it was very disappointing. No one on spa reception so when we got there we didn’t really know what to do, one man which I think was doing laundry seen us and asked if we wanted towels and have us 2 towels and one robe for 2 people but he did go looking for another robe. Left to our own devices with no staff around we went in to get changed but discovered the lockers only took old £1 coins with no staff around I had to go all the way back down to main reception to see if I could get hold of one, he seemed confused at what I was saying and told us we could leave our stuff down at main reception if we wanted. Not really ideal as I need a locker to put my stuff in that I would want to get changed into upon leaving the spa. When we went in to the spa either nothing was turned on or nothing worked but again with no staff around we couldn’t find out, no sauna no jacuzzi it was just like sitting in a hot bath and the resistance pool wasn’t working so you would literally do one stroke and you’re at the other end. Relaxation room was locked. So basically after half an hour we left, the spa was a complete let down in all areas. To sum up nothing majorly bad happened to make it a bad stay but when I spent nearly £400 pounds for a one night stay room service and a few little extras I expected far far better, the hot tub in the room and the view were about the only things to make it memorable. I can’t help but feel a little bit ripped off, I’m not sure if I’d return again, if it wasn’t as pricey I’d definitely come back for the view but overall not worth the money I paid.
