Great weekend stay! Thank you so much to the wonderful team for making it a very pleasant stay. Swift check-in and departure. We had breakfast both mornings with a great range and plenty of GF choices too. Our room was gorgeous and throughly cleaned. Whilst we were out, we asked for our room to be re-done and the housekeeping team couldn’t of done a better job. We’re so grateful and look forward visiting on our next trip to London.

I arrived in London quite early and called the hotel to see if I could check in earlier than the standard time. The reception staff were incredibly helpful and managed to find me a room (by swapping my room type to a better one!) that had already been cleaned and allowed me to check in. The room was spacious, clean, modern and comfortable. It had power sockets next to the bed (always a win!) and had a great feature which allowed you to switch on some dim low level lights in case you need to find your way to the bathroom in the night. Great feature! The curtains were great at blocking out all the light, the mattress was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious, clean and modern. The air con worked great which is always a bonus as I have found that this can be sometimes hit and miss in hotels recently and I love to have a cool room. Breakfast was a help yourself buffet style and had everything you would expect (Full English hot and continental cold options). Checking in and out was a breeze, the reception staff were extremely polite and helpful and the communal areas of the hotel were clean and modern. All round, definitely one of the best hotels I have stayed in. As a business traveller who goes to London on a regular basis, I would definitely return to this hotel.

Booked through groupon. Called to arrange upgrade this was all confirmed by email. We arrived at hotel at 1.30pm told us we cant check in till 2pm so we left our luggage and went out for a walk came back at 3pm and it was a very long queue and we waited to be told our room is not ready and they were unaware of the upgrade i showed them the email to when they upgraded us at £15per night. Still room not ready so they gave us a drink voucher to use at the bar. No information was given in regards to breakfast we had included each morning nor any general information. When the room was ready the room was fine we got a junior room and it was very small. The room was opposite the cleaners so it was very noisy and not pleasant at all. With a junior room we was meant to get robes and slippers but we had to call up for this. The room has no toiletries what so ever, when i asked at reception they ask what i needed, so they only give you what you need and when you ask. It doesnt come in the room as standard. We had dinner included in our package and the service was so poor and so slow! 3 course meal took over 4hours to be serve. That we gave up and left it was a joke. Breakfast was nice and this was perfect i have to say. No one gives you any information so our first morning we was unsure so later in the day i asked at reception regarding vegetarian options etc and they said i can just order at breakfast with someone. Wish i knew this information because wasnt much choice in the buffet for vegetarian eaters or for people with diatry requirments. Plus everyone seems so busy to even seat you or for them to stop to answer your questions. We also asked if we could checkout at 3pm rather than 2pm as our room wasnt ready till after 4pm and they said NO and if we wanted to check out an hour later we should pay. We also booked afternoon tea, which was ok nothing great. I personally wouldnt have it agian. Hotel is close to alot of food places, shops and tesco so you can pick things up. Overall it was OK, not really worth it as wasnt given any information. Cant tell you what the hotel has as we stayed in room.

Dear Tasha-Strat, I was so disappointed and sad to read that you only wished to score us 3 stars following your recent stay with us. Unfortunately I am unable to trace back your reservation from your review name which is a shame as it does not allow me to address all of your issues. I would also like to thank you for your constructive feedback on several points regarding your stay, we take all our guests comments very seriously and where possible reflect this in our service standards. I hope you will give us another chance to prove to you that Clayton Hotel City of London does provide a top-notch service and that this was certainly not our usual level. If you do ever decide to return please do contact me directly so that I am aware you are here. Kind regards Keerthy Sachavi General Manager

Booked a deluxe room through secret escapes which described it as a 4 star hotel. Location was a bit way out but close to tube stations so easy to get anywhere in London. The staff on the reception desk were really friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them and it’s the staff who are an asset to this hotel as the room was just average. Unfortunately, there is a lot of building work going on in front of this hotel and a lot of the area is closed off due to construction work. Sadly this isn’t mentioned at time of booking. Nevertheless it didn’t spoil our stay as we only used the hotel as a base and were out most of the day. The room itself was ok and a bit quirky but it was very dark and the lighting wasn’t the best. The furniture was dirty and stained, there was no coffee machine just a small kettle with a very small supply of milk and coffee sachets, however, more were provided on request. The room was cleaned every morning but The shower tray was extremely dirty although it looked like a non slip layer was peeling off which made it appear very dirty. The toilet seat was marked and stained and the shelves were very dusty. On the morning we checked out the smell of drains was unbearable and we were glad to get out. Breakfast was included in the price of our stay and it was ok but if arriving after 9 there wasnt much left and the staff didn’t seem to keep the food topped up. It wasn’t very hot, just warm.

We went for a birthday weekend, after an awful journey to the hotel. We were met by lovely smiles on the front desk. We were cheered up in an instant, they were so friendly! they also upgraded our room, which was a real treat. Every member of staff we came into contact with was amazing I only managed to catch Carlos' name but he was just one of many amazing staff members. The hotel was clean and the rooms were very clean. The breakfast was lovely, really enjoyed the buffet, they make your eggs to order which is very good. Overall one of the best hotel stays in london! could no fault a thing! What a great team of staff they have there. I will definitely be back
