Whether you're headed here to check out the multitude of shops, theaters, cafes, pubs, and restaurants, or simply to be among the multitude of people who pass through this pretty part of town, you'll love soaking up the festive and historic atmosphere in and around Covent Garden. Even if you don't have tickets to the opera or a show at one of the many famous theaters here, don't be surprised if find yourself captivated by some impromptu act of a street performer wowing the crowds in Covent Garden's Piazza. If you do have tickets, you'll be pleased to note that many of the local eateries accommodate theatergoers with prix fixe menus, early dinners, and later than usual opening hours.

Could not communicate with the staff who had strong foreign accents - the whole visit was ruined as did not feel confident staying here also the homeless people put us off so we did not even spend one single night here and opted for an alternative accommodation provider

1. The good things. Location: if you want to spend your time at the theatre, it would be hard to find a better location, with very many within five minutes' walk. Ditto for the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery. (Complaining about the homeless, people smoking outside the door, and indeed aggressive begging is just complaining about Central London — and other major European cities too. If you want to avoid this, then avoid London's tourist areas.) Secondly, our studio apartment (no. 8) was well fitted out, with good plumbing, modern appliances in full working order, and good quality bathroom products. Internet download speed was generally about 10Mb/sec. 2. The bad things. First, the unavoidable ones. There is no lift (not the owners' negligence; there is simply no room for one). It is 44 steps to reach the lowest apartments (nos 1 & 2). It is 103 steps to reach the highest (7 & 8). Think twice if you're not too good at carrying your own suitcases, for there will be no one to help you. Secondly, the avoidable bad things (and there are very many, some of them surely easily fixed). We booked for eight nights. On arrival, we found ourselves supplied with one toilet roll, one small bar of soap, one small bottle of each shower product. Although the toilet itself was separate from the bathroom, with its own washbowl, there was neither soap nor towel provided for it. Mysteriously, (and wastefully) our bed linen was changed for the last night of our stay but not before. As the duvet is a cheap and sweaty artificial fibre one, this was significant. (Mercifully, the bed linen is cotton.) The pillows are hard. The official description of the towels as ‘fluffy’ is (let us not suggest lying) hyperbolic. The bedroom furniture was bizarrely selected. With hardly any drawer space, we were driven to keep some of our clothes in a kitchen cupboard. Several things were not working on arrival: the kitchen light bulb was blown, ditto for the toilet extraction fan (and ditto again for one of the bedside reading lights). The first two were replaced the next day, but as others have observed, you have to report these things by telephone during their normal working hours, and I got fed up with (and embarrassed about) making twice-daily telephone calls of complaint. The broken blinds and stuck windows were never fixed. As we found when we took down our suitcases, the top of the wardrobe is rarely or even never cleaned. Almost no information is provided in the room. There is a complicated air conditioning system, which some previous occupant had set on a 32.5C daily cycle. After three days of daily wrestling to overcome this, we eventually stumbled upon its operating instructions concealed underneath other things at the bottom of a kitchen cupboard, and were able to make a permanent fix.

If you want to be in Central London this is a good location except this specific street has a lot of homeless people. In the evening there's often a waiter/waitress from the next door restaurant having a cigarette in the front door vestibule. The immediate entrance is not well maintained. The check-in process is via a lockbox which was difficult to use. I was given the wrong wi-fi credentials and didn't have access until late evening the second day, the cable TV only had a couple of channels and the reception was poor. If you need assistance with anything, it has to be before 8pm otherwise you won’t hear from them until the next day. An underwhelming experience, a strong recommendation against staying here.
