This unique 39-bedroom hotel is conveniently located next to the Holborn Subway and within walking distance of Convent Garden and its shops, theaters and restaurants. The British Museum, Russel Park and UCL are also within walking distance. Located on a busy street with a bus lane in its front entrance, it may at first be difficult to arrive and depart by car, hence guests should plan accordingly. L’Oscar is at first a bit quirky, an impression that will fade when the guest understands it is a small luxury property with fascinating details and strong style. It may not be for all, but I loved every bit of it, from the butterfly collection at the bar to the vivid colors of the bedroom. The hotel is dark, starting from its wood paneling and carpets, however it adds to the risqué ambiance it exudes. It is nonetheless cozy and welcoming. The owners/operators Michel Reybier Hospitality brought us jewels such as La Réserve in Paris and its sisters in Genève and Eden au Lac in Zurich besides the wonderful Victoria-Jungfrau. The lineage of L’Oscar is from grand European hotels. Hence, no fear to explore if never stayed before in this property. Staff, from the front desk (Mustapha, “tamo juntos!”) to the restaurant are welcoming and attentive. Service is diligent and kind. Food is prepared with a meticulous choice of products. From the eggs for breakfast that have a nice reddish color of being from free-range chicken to the fruit that have all the quality traits of being hand-picked by the Chef. This sample shows what to expect from everything that comes from the kitchen – it will be of excellent quality. The Junior Suite is ample and well appointed. The bathroom has a bathtub, excellent pressure separate rain shower and toilet enclosure. Bath amenities are upscale Lalique brand. Body cream and all other necessities are available. There is a small hallway that leads to a walk-in closet. A second door separates the bedroom from the hallway. A nice workstation is available as well as a comfortable seating area. The room on the fourth floor is silent even with a busy street with buses in the front. The bedding was top notch quality as expected in a luxury hotel. My only quirk was with the curtains that don’t close very well and were a bit stained. L’Oscar is an intimate club-like hotel for a few discerning guests.

I've been fortunate to stay at some lovely hotels around the world. L'Oscar London is my new favourite! It's luxurious and beautiful, as well as centrally located. For me, what makes L'Oscar stand out from other gorgeously appointed hotels is the staff - they exude warmth and care, such that the atmosphere of the hotel feels luxurious and boutique without being stuffy or pretentious. L'Oscar really felt like a (better) home away from home!
I stayed for 4 nights for a solo "me time" trip, from September 29 to October 3, 2024. The attentive service started with my booking (I booked direct with the hotel), where the staff took note of my severe cat allergy and told me they would ensure that my room was cat-free for six months before my visit. Communications from the staff over email were clear and prompt. I was also given a complimentary upgrade to a Junior Suite Grande.
On arrival at the hotel, I was given a complimentary drink (I chose champagne) and then led to my room by a friendly gentleman (I think his name was Farhad). The staff asked me about my toddler, which was a nice detailed touch as I had mentioned her only briefly in my communications with staff. The room was meticulously clean, spacious, luxuriously decorated and thoughtfully appointed, with bath salts by the bath, fresh fruit and cookies, complementary still and sparking water, and a coffee maker and kettle (along with coffee and tea).
I was so tired that I spent a lot of my time just relaxing in the beautiful room, reading and sleeping. The staff gave me my space, but also checked up on me now and then to make sure everything was to my liking. It was a balance of privacy with care that the hotel executed perfectly.
I also came back from dinner one night to a surprise gift on the bed to bring home to my daughter, along with a thoughtful note from the housekeeping staff! My daughter loves the gift :D
Breakfast in the dining room is also quite a treat. I had eggs benedict with complimentary pastries - yum!
Unfortunately I don't anticipate going to London anytime soon due to life circumstances. But the next time I do (if I am so lucky!) I will definitely stay at L'Oscar. Even a few months later I cannot stop thinking about L'Oscar and my wonderful stay there! Kudos to all the staff for making L'Oscar special among other luxury hotels.

We stayed in the Bell tower Suite for 4 nights with my daughter and grand daughter. The unusual layout worked well in the end. The bathroom and dressing area were down a hallway with steps which were well lit and had handrails. Housekeeping did a lot of extra things for us. The breakfast was a nice experience. The decor and bedding were all of excellent quality. The.staff had a “can do” attitude and they were very helpful. It was a very nice stay.

We had booked a table for afternoon tea at 2.30pm. We quickly got the tea we had ordered. Only after 45 minutes did we get food/cake. 4 toast bread sandwiches for each which were Ok. Scones with and without raisins, with whipped butter and some lemon curd. The scones were amazingly good. The cakes were, in our opinion, too sweet but very nice. They must have points for the surroundings. The toilets are very nice. For an 11-year-old child and 2 adults, we paid 147 gbp - which we knew when we ordered. In addition, a 15% tip was added - which had to be paid despite the long wait. This was not stated when we ordered.

Personal service with beautifully appointed rooms. Originally booked a junior suite but through Amex platinum was upgraded to the Loft Suite. This was a spacious room that had an extended King bed, large living space and marble bathroom with tub.
Room service, whether it was morning coffee and pastries or a late dessert, was always prompt and each meal we ate was genuinely satisfying.
L’Oscars location was great for us as we wanted to be close to all attractions but still have a sense of peace and quiet.
If you’re considering this hotel, I highly recommend you stay especially as the comparable options are likely more expensive and offer half the personal experience.

This review is long overdue, but I must write it down. I came here for Christmas dinner with friends. We are happy to see the hotel/ restaurant look nice and hoping the food also good.
We've booked a set menu and are required to choose the menu in advance, which is understandable. We expect the food will be ready on-time as we choose the menu. In the short story, every course took an hour to serve. We were there from 7am to 10pm and our dessert was still not out. Not only for the food, ordering drinks also took forever.
A few of our friends left after 10 pm as the dessert still had no sign to serve. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she said that the kitchen is busy and not only serves our table. I work at the hospitality business, so her answer really can't be accepted.
They mess up with our order and find out that it charges us double. In fact it's their fault not to prepare our meal based on the order.
Glad we still have our patience and try to enjoy the time by taking lots of pictures. Guests who came far behind us already left and got served before us.
Seems like the staff has no clue and does not do the job desk or job section. They need to work as a team better.
This is the first time I have had a 3 course meal for over 3,5hrs. Really slow service.

L'oscar was most definitely the best hotel experience we've had in London and for that matter, Europe overall. My family and I stayed there for 5 nights and the staff made the experience memorable from the moment we entered. During checkin itself, the staff made sure our kids had refreshments and that my wife and I had our choice of hot or cold beverages. I also appreciated that we got upgraded to their Junior suite, which was very well furnished and had ample room to sleep all 4 of us with large bathroom and closet space for our belongings.
Breakfast was my favorite part of the day. We were a large party of 8 and the staff always made sure we had a table that could accommodate all of us when we came down. Juliette, had my first cappuccino ordered before I even sat down and made sure my family had their morning beverages ready to serve. The breakfast is fantastic and they are very good about making substitutes and tailoring how you like your eggs prepared.
What makes L'oscar special is its character and depth. The art deco decor and plush velvet furnishings take you back to a time when hotels had that old style charm and attention to customer requests.
I look forward to staying there again!

The hotel decor is the lobby and restaurant is great, warm reception, check in was quick. The man who showed us to our room was very nice, and was my wife’s 30th birthday and wanted to know what he could do to make it extra special, was a nice touch that he got the housekeeping to do a romantic turn down service which my wife loved.
The room was lovely, shower is huge, great selection in the mini bar and tea/coffee facilities good.
The only reason I am not giving 5/5, and small details, when our room was serviced the milk and sugar was not replenished so I had to go get some, when you are paying good money the small details matter. But I’m sure just a one off.
I would stay again no problems, thanks for the great weekend.

I was impressed by the service even before we arrived at the hotel-within a few minutes after I made the reservation, I received a call from Diana (I think she is a manager) inquiring our arrival time (it was 6am) and if it is for any special occasion (our anniversary) or if we have any special requests (we did not). I have never received this kind of special attention and services before! Diana told me that although she can’t guarantee it she will see if the room can be ready earlier. We arrived at the airport, did the 2 day test and arrived at the hotel just after 8am. This is not our first trip to London and usually our plane lands early in the morning and our routine is to leave our luggages at the hotel and go out to look around and have lunch. This time, it would have been a bit difficult since it was a rainy February Sunday morning when hardly anything was open. We we arrived at the hotel to ask if we can leave our luggages, we were invited to their reception area with smiles and Diana came out to greet us. We were told that the room will be ready in the next 30min and in the mean while we were offered hot cups of coffee and delicious financiers! It was a really nice gesture after an overnight flight! The hotel is in a historic building but the rooms have all the modern convenience while preserving the old time charm! They also offer turn down services. A very nice cake and macaroons were delivered for our anniversary that was a nice touch! In addition to its great location(you can get to Holburn station within 1-2minites, you can walk to the West End theatres in 10-15 mins) the servers that the hotel provides is not even close to any other hotels that we have been to! I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough!
