What a wonderful stay. Definitely recommend this hotel. Spotlessly clean. Amazing location, right near Tower Bridge. Plenty of lovely restaurants around. The High Street feels like a little community. With lots of restaurants and eateries. The breakfast at this hotel is 2nd to none. I have travelled in many hotels and this is definitely at the top of my list.. So much choice you can ask for anymore. All the staff are very pleasant and accommodating and cannot do enough for you. Definitely would use this location and hotel again when you coming to London.

Liked - Modern, stylish hotel in Bermondsey Square. Lovely welcome and all the staff were terrific! Bedroom was full of angles and shapes but really well designed and I loved the bathroom and shower!! It's set in a quiet area and only a short walk from London Bridge rail station, the shard and Tower bridge. Bermondsey street also has many lovely bakeries, coffee shops and eateries so it's a nice walk to the hotel and in a decent area. Breakfast was a continental buffet which was very nice, but for a small supplement you could have a custom cooked breakfast as well. I stayed for the Saturday and Sunday nights as I was running the London Marathon. Not too far to get to the stations for the weekend and a good nights sleep. *Note the kitchen closes early on a Sunday, so get food out before you go back! (I did, Franco Manco up the road, also recommended!) The hotel also offered me additional water and snacks on the morning of the event, which was a lovely touch and they couldn't do more to help with storing my luggage. Overall, very highly recommended and I'd definitely return. Disliked · Nothing really. The only thing I could say is the location is 10/15 minutes walk from London/Tower Bridge so if you were visiting for these areas or further north/west, then maybe look at somewhere closer. Honestly, it's a brilliant hotel!

Stayed here for the London Marathon. We had 2 family rooms and a double. The sofa beds in the family rooms weren't even suitable for small children to sleep on as the mattresses were so thin the springs stuck through and creaked everytime you moved. This resulted in everyone having a very poor nights sleep. None of the TV's seemed to be working properly as they all had different limited things you could watch. The hairdryer in one of the rooms didn't work and there were no sockets near a mirror so you could do your hair. Space was limited in the family rooms with the sofa bed up and there was only one chair. This hotel does not serve alcohol, something we were not made aware of when we booked. The only plus was that this hotel was reasonably situated to access the marathon course which was good as we were all weary from lack of sleep.

Good Afternoon, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave feedback for us. We regret that this stay did not live up to your expectations. Please rest assured that your comments about the room facilities have been taken on board, will be passed to the relevant departments and will be considered when next upgrading our bedrooms. Due to ownership, we don't sell alcohol or pork at the hotel. Though our guests do really enjoy the alternative version of the breakfast. Our restaurant can always prepare some wonderful mocktails and soft drinks as an alternative too. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back for a more positive experience. Kind regards, Andrea | Front Office Manager

A perfectly pleasant stay ruined by miscommunication and mismanagement. Positives: Room was nice, clean, shower was lovely. Where it went wrong: upon checkout, I was told I would not get my £25 security deposit back as the iron was damaged. This was to my absolute surprise as I used the iron on the first night (out of my two night stay) and i used it entirely as normal without any mis-treatment. When I challenged this, I was told the plug socket was found shattered during the cleaning of my room in the daytime and there was melted fabric on the irons surface. I challenged this again and they had taken photos of the iron. The photos did indeed show that the plug was smashed and there was melted fabric on the surface. When I explained that this simply cant have been me who damaged it the manager piped in and advised the cleaner had smashed the plug by stepping on it during his/her clean of my room - story suddenly changed... so the only other damage that i was accused of making was of the melted fabric on the iron. Furthermore, I wish I had of checked the irons surface before i used it but very sadly i did not. Firstly, melted fabric on the iron can be cleaned relatively easily with little skill and common sense, but secondly and most importantly when I got home to check my clothes NONE of my clothes are burnt in anyway shape or form, proving to myself that I did not unknowingly cause this. Therefore, my only justification for this is that there was melted fabric on the surface of the iron before I even checked into the room and someone before me had done this. Of course however the hotel could argue that they do check all appliances in each room post check out of a guest: HOWEVER, I can prove they the hotel does NOT check the appliances in the room after guest checkouts as my hair dryer when using was faulty, it did work but it makes a horrible loud racket at full blast and cuts out, so I had to just make do an use it on the gentle setting and thought nothing of it at the time - i didnt mind. But this is evidence of the hotel not checking appliances after guest checkout, therefore how can they prove that the damage to the iron was me since I know they dont fully check their appliances. Also, the cleaner stepping on the plug and smashing it.... that is therefore not for me to pay for this, if the cleaner has made the iron unusable by stepping on it this is her/his fault.... not mine, its broken anyway, and the hotel admits this. Whats more the hotel made me pay an extra £20 ontop of my £20 security deposit as this is how much the irons cost supposedly - i mean the seucirty deposit was enough but making me pay a total of £45 for something which I 100% KNOW I did not do and the hotel simply cannot prove otherwise is remarkable. Just a shame because it was a nice enough room and I had a good time. If I know I had of maybe damaged the iron I just would have owned up, I just would have. But I know I did not and if they went in room 115 to check the hairdryer they will prove to themsevles that they do not check their appliances for damage post guest checkout.... therefore how can they pin this on me.... Anyway, I hope someone at the hotel reads this.

We went for Valentines day and it was lovely and romantic as we stayed in the Lucy room, which has it's own hot-tub. But for the price the room was severely lacking i.e the TV isn't a smart tv (1st world problems?) which isn't an issue really but at £500 for 1 night, I would like a choice of what to watch. You also cannot buy alcohol at the hotel nor are pork products available so if you want a bacon sandwich, not a chance. Some may find this excellent - I would question the cost in the future.

Dear Sarjon1969, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback in regards to your experience with The Bermondsey Square Hotel. All feedback is highly appreciated, as we are constantly trying to improve our services towards all our guests. I am happy that you found our accommodation and ambience to be up to your standard and that you enjoyed your stay with us. Regarding the TV in your room, I am very sorry about the inconvenience you experienced, but I would like to inform you that we have just installed new smart TVs in all rooms. As our owner is from the middle east, they decided to make this hotel a halal hotel so fellow followers of Islam and other cultures who do not consume pork-based products would have a place where they can have the full experience without going against their morality and faith. Now I know it can be an issue for some people but we see it as doing the classic but revamping it to fit a wider range of minorities rather than leaving out a big chunk of people from the full experience. I hope we will have the chance to welcome you again as our guest. Kind Regards, Elena Putinelu Guest Services Manager

Great location, spacious room and friendly staff. The hotel is just round the corner from Bermondsey Street which is packed with lovely bars, restaurants and galleries. It's 5-10 minutes walk from London Bridge rail link and the Shard so no need for taxis or a car. I definitely plan to stay again the next time I am in London.

The best thing about the hotel is the location. Close to the hustle and bustle of Bermondsey street. London Bridge / borough market and the southbank are not far. The hotel rooms are spacious and well designed in terms of layout but are looking a little dated. There are no plug sockets next to the bed which is a little annoying. The duvet was too thin and too small to be comfy for two people sharing. The TV set up is abysmal and our first rooms TV did not work. The staff member tried to fix but couldn’t and so we quickly moved to another which was very welcomed. The bathrooms are a very good size, but the shower door did not close properly or create a seal so water flooded the bathroom which is not ideal. The water temperature of the shower was not hot enough and it’s weird you have to call reception to turn the towel heater on and off. It would also be nice to have water in the rooms and more tea and coffee. The staff we dealt with were all friendly and helpful but it seems they are dealing with a lot of issues outside their control. The hotel needs investment and some TLC.

We stayed here at the end of February. The room and hotel was nice enough but the staff weren't great. When we arrived we were given the keycard to our room, when we entered the room we found it to still be occupied (the guests were literally in bed). When we went back to reception to complain we were just given another key for another room and didn't even receive an apology or any acknowledgement of the issue at all.
