Very funky hotel in a fab location. The rooms were very small but it had everything we needed. We loved the rooftop bar and the restaurant is lovely but we only had breakfast. Not my favourite London hotel but it was a good experience for the rate we paid I would probably not return.

It's a nice hotel in an excellent location. The rooms are modern and clean. However, the staff appear to have little idea what's going on and spend most of their time dashing around in aimless panic. Breakfast is impossibly slow, expect to wait 30 minutes even for the basics! I certainly won't be staying again.

The Sanctum is know as The Rock n Roll hotel and rightly so! I've actually stayed here many times and also attended lots of parties and functions both in the cinema downstairs and on the roof. The hotel is part owned by Iron Maiden so it does have a very genuine Rock n Roll pedigree. The decor is contemporary win... More

We stopped in the bar for a cocktail before heading downstairs to the cinema. We sat at the bar and the bartender (don't know his name but he is from Ocho Rios) made us the best cosmopolitans we have ever had. Will return for those if nothing else!

I booked Gents Afternoon Tea as a surprise for my husband. The reservation was efficient, I explained that we were going onto a show, so they offered to bring the time forward (very accommodating) and when I informed them that my husband didn't smoke (the menu includes a cigar on the roof top terrace), they suggested champagne on arrival instead.... Booked a last minute trip to London and chose this hotel due to its location. Step outside and you have everything on your doorstep. Lovely boutique hotel which had everything we needed. We had a couple of things that's needed sorted in the room but one phone call and within 5 minutes they were fixed. Excellent service! We'll definitely be... More

We live just outside London and were spending £240 on a room for a special night away. When the Sanctum opened the service was great and it felt like a real find, a quietly cool hotel in a perfect location. Recent visit suggests it's in danger of becoming a parody of itself - the cool stops being genuine when it's... More

I don't normally leave reviews but thought it was necessary. My partner and I stayed at the hotel on NYE as we had tickets for the fireworks. Whilst the hotel location was good and the room itself nice we were in room 101, right over the disco that was taking place downstairs. The music was so loud that I could... More

Facilities are good - ground floor restaurant and bar and upstairs roof bar. Room was small but layout was ok - not sure about just a shower curtain in the bathroom next to the sink, but it seemed to work ok. Breakfast was ok but considering only 1 or 2 people where present, it was a bit slow and service... More

Location is the only positive. Uncomfortable bed and creaking floorboards everywhere we walked. Over one hour wait for breakfast, this would sometimes be understandable, however there were only three other tables occupied when we arrived and our order was very basic. No apology and a mandatory service charge added to our bill !

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
