So I found this little place whilst planning a trip to the O2 for a Madonna concert.
Booked a table at 5 and it’s was raining heavily so the bar was busy but we were taken through to the restaurant and seated in an orangery type room with large windows which would be lovely on a summers day.
We ordered food and modified the menu choices a little which didn’t seem a problem.
Highly recommend the Steak and Ale pie ans the fish & Chips.
Food came quickly and was lovely. Paid the bill and sat in the bar for a few drinks before leaving for the O2. Only thing I would say is that the table was booked for 90 mins, I don’t know if you could have kept it longer as the restaurant wasn’t that busy when we left but we were happy to sit in the bar. 10 min walk to the O2.
Lovely place for a drink or food before a concert ! Highly recommend

We stayed at the pilot over night whilst visiting the O2 for the Elton John farewell concert. The hotel was easy to find, and located within a few minutes walk of the O2 which was great!

The room was comfortable and well equipped, however once in bed we realised the pillows were very flat and tired. There were minimum tea and coffee selections available even for the short duration stay. Plug sockets were at a premium and we had to unplug various appliances to choose what we wanted to use each time. This is an easy fix with the space available.

The place was quiet after 23:30, so anyone wanting to sleep before this must be a heavy sleeper, any light sleepers will find it hard to sleep with sirens throughout the early morning, a delivery lorry opening and shutting its doors early hours and the kitchen staff downstairs preparing breakfast.

Breakfast was bitterly disappointing! When we went downstairs we were advised to go down into the breakfast area, no explanation of what was where or what to help yourselves to, it took 15 minutes for anyone to come and ask what we wanted and an hour before receiving a below par breakfast of Eggs Benedict, eggs over done, one piece of bagel burnt and the other side undercooked! I had Salmon on sourdough toast, again, one side toasted the other not toasted at all. The egg and Salmon however was very tasty. The pastry selection was limited and not replenished when everyone had helped themselves so none left when we wanted some!

The pub seemed busy generally so popular with locals and travellers alike. For access to South & East London, Greenwich and the O2 area it a great spot. Just need to improve on creature comforts and more effort where customer service is required.

Stayed here to see Madonna at O2. It has free parking, check-in desk is unmanned in a corner of the bar, but we were seen straight away by bar staff. Check-in is 3 pm, but our room was ready just earlier, which was a bonus after 3hr plus drive. The room we had was 5pm, rooms are clock times which is a quirky touch with clocks on doors, our room was small but adequate for a 1 night stay. The room had tea/coffee facilities, TV, air con, and was clean except for a few marks on the carpet, which looked like spilt coffee, which could have easily been removed. If you are a guest, you get 10% of food and drink. The breakfast has a good selection on menu but not much out for cereal or yoghurt lovers. The soup i had the night we arrived was tasteless but the wings and fries were nice. It has lovely little quirky touches around the B&B and its charm is its old in a cast area of high rise apartments.

Looking for somewhere to stay at short notice having come to London for a final visit with our terminally ill elderly uncle, someone suggested staying at The Pilot. Big mistake!
Signing in for the room was rather convoluted at an unmanned station in the bar after which we trod a sticky staircase to our room. The walls appeared not to have been decorated for many years - shabby, devoid of chic!
In the comparatively small bedroom itself, the carpet was significantly stained likewise the chair - see images. The window blind had been broken seemingly some time ago rendering it only partially operable whilst by far the weirdest element was the positioning of the toilet flush button which couldn't be used without moving the seat cover out of the way!. Never seen one like it before! Looks to be a great hygiene risk really. Add in Rawlplugs on the shower wall with nothing attached and there is a distinct feeling of a place having had better days.
However, the bed was fine and the breakfast choices and food standard, served by a friendly Scandinavian guy, were pretty good.
It is difficult to escape the conclusion that The Pilot is aimed squarely at O2 concert goers who may have had a few drinks and are just looking for somewhere to crash without being too discerning. The price of almost £300 for two nights we felt to be extortionate for the standard of room furnishing

Me and my family stayed over a weekend in May. We stayed in a Superior Room and a Cabin room. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the food was nice, the beer on tap was excellent.

The cabin room was very cosy and had a comfortable small double bed, for £70 it was very good value for London and great to stay in with a small child as there was no way for them to fall out of the bed. Despite the pub lounge being directly downstairs and one of the beer gardens directly outside the window, there was little noise and those who slept in that room had a good night.

The Superior Room however was a different story. It was directly above the pub's front door and bar. You could hear everything as if it was in the room with you (floorboards, the last order bell, people talking, the jukebox, etc). The noise didn't even stop when the pub closed, as when the cleaners came to do their job in the middle of the night they also made a racket and kept us awake until the early hours. The Superior Room is more spacious (bathroom is the same size as the Cabin Room) and has a larger bed, but the noise was unbearable and therefore not superior in any way, The cost of a superior room was double the cost of a cabin and definitely not worth the extra.

We stayed the night of a show at the O2 arena.
Found a free parking space without a problem right outside.
Check in was smooth, stayed in room 1, many quirks and original feature in the room and around the hotel.
Sunday roast was really good, with decent thick gravy, everything perfectly cooked.
We slept well, maybe a larger bed would've been good.
Temperature easily controlled either by the AC and/or radiator.
Lovely modern bathroom with a powerful shower.
Breakfast was included on our rate, including a cereal, granola with fruit and yoghurt, followed by a hot option, again perfectly cooked with good quailty ingredients.

We stayed here to attend an event (not at the O2) which we could literally see from the bedroom window.

All staff are lovely but special shout out to Jada and Teagan who really looked after us in the restaurant whilst having dinner. They had a warm and engaging style as well as being professional and efficient.

The food was excellent. The fishcakes were so tasty and the Venison Faggots were wonderful. Apple and Blackberry crumble was so lovely but my husband had to help finish it off. It came with Ice Cream but for us it has to be Custard.

Breakfast was plentiful with good options.

The room was really comfortable and fitted to a good standard. Little quirky decor but thats just down to personal taste.

Would absolutely stay here again and within 10 min walk to O2 gives you access to all its offers (great shopping outlet) but really easy to get back to central London with tube.

Will be back👍

The Pilot has had a very successful makeover in the past two / three years since I was here last. It’s looking much more refreshed, comfortable and alot of new small touches to bring back it’s character.

The food is good and we spent each night eating in because we were so tired after walking kilometres and kilometres per day! Thanks also to a friendly staff it made our mealtimes perfect!

It’s easy travelling to anywhere you wish ti go.

We were excited to visit with our friend after a morning of exploring London. Seating was swift and we were met by accommodating staff who took us to our table. Moments later, a different member of staff took our food order and we ordered our drinks. Unfortunately, 45 minutes later we were still waiting and the member of staff waiting on us didnt seem too concerned and didn't offer much sympathy either.

When food did arrive, presentation was good on the plate and it seemed that we were 'compensated' with extra potatoes (although, having the consistency of crackling).

We would expect to receive this service at 7/8pm on a Sunday after a day of busy service at a well respected and highly rated establishment. However, we arrived at 2:30, not 7:30, hence the disappointment.

Overall, the experience was marred by nonchalant table service and an 'end of service' attitude towards our custom.

We rang The Pilot around 4pm on Thursday 25th April to book a table for a meal before heading to the 02 and were told there was no availability for dining for the rest of the day. Disappointed we set off to look for somewhere for a meal at the 02. However, as we had to walk past The Pilot I decided there was no harm in popping in to ask. Imagine my surprise when I was told there was a table for 4 upstairs. Great! Not only that, we were the only ones there at that time. We had a lovely meal with wine. Food and service were great. We were told there was no rush and that we could have the table until 7.30pm! We were on our way before then. So, thank you The Pilot. I just hope that the girl that answered the phone to us didn’t cause you too much lost business.
