This YHA is in a nice old building and the rooms were large with hand basins in the room which was convenient. Beds and rooms were clean, as were the communal showers and toilets. It is mentioned on the site, but it's a shame the hostel has no self cooking facilities and no external alcoholic beverages are allowed. Also no... More

The best thing of this hostel is its great location: sandwiched between St Paul's and the Millennium Bridge, whether you want to walk to the Charing Cross and onwards to the Buckingham Palace, or you want to see the Thames at all times of the day, the location is just perfect, and the little lane it is situated in has... Hi Ankyuk, Thank you for leaving a review on our hostel, we always appreciate it. I can guarantee that all of our linen is changed daily when guests check out. I think that possibly someone in your room may have slept in the wrong bed which is what caused the confusion. All of the YHA hostels throughout our network are... More

We stayed there for three night and visited London with kids (10-13-15). We slept well, breakfast was OK, we got answers to our questions and could leave our bags before the room was accessible. That's what we needed so we enjoyed the stay. It can be noisy a certain times and the room was quite bare but we did not... More

This is one of the worst hostel experiences that I've ever had in a first-world country. I've stayed in $3 a night hostels in Cambodia and Mexico that were more accommodating than this! Firstly, the majority of the reception staff are incredibly rude. The atmosphere in the hostel is severely damaged by their negative attitudes and unwillingness to even use... More

We have stayed in several youth hostels now and they are great but, if this had been my first yha visit, I may have been put off booking again. On the positive side, the location is good for accessing London highlights and the staff were welcoming and helpful. I booked a private room for 3 and found the bed arrangement... More

Location is good, but the staff was short tempered, the church bells ring loud throughout the night every 15 minutes, room doors slam. Last morning was a bag breakfast for our group and it was a rip off!

This is an OK Hostel. But for the price it seems we could have gotten a normal hotel with desired amenities. Furthermore for the price we'd expect nicer amenities from St. Paul's. But they were lacking; therefore why is this hostel not more of a budget value? For three nights it cost my family of 5 over 400 pounds! One... More

Hi Corrine, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on our hostel. The duvets on our beds may look like sleeping bags but the certainly are no where close to being a sleeping bag. While this YHA is in a great location we are baffled as to how it is still operating. The rooms look nothing like those in the professional photos. Our windsill was rotten and rain poured in soaking my pillow and bed. It opened sufficiently for the rain but not enough to allow air cirulation. We knew that aircon was not... More

I've stayed in lots of rural hostels but never a city one before & I was reasonably impressed. Clean bedding, clean room and I rented a nice big towel too. Great location! Good amenities. Good price for London! I quite liked hearing the bells of the cathedral, and I thought the staff were all helpful and efficient. BUT. The orange... More

Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
