Neighborhood
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.

Delighted to return to the building which I lived in (during term-time) as a Chorister at St Paul's 1958-63.The school had to move out when the building was compulsorily purchased in the 1960's for road-widening which never happened... But if it can't be the Cathedral School,

The staff were very helpful. Good display of things to buy at reception. Check in was easy. Wi-Fi wasn't great at top of the building so use it in the restaurant area. There aren't many power points in the restaurant so make sure you tell them they need more. Power points on

Bad internet, it has been a struggle to stay connected. Rather helpful but also utterly, for the most, arrogant help desk. I left the hostel mostly because of those two reasons - bad internet and bad personal treatment. Fantastic location. International atmosphere.

No, the restaurant won't be open. Some small stores might be open but generally stores are closed during this time in England. Also, some restaurants and takeouts might be open, but generally they won't be. This youth hostel is a gloomy place to spend the Christmas break, why not look for other options? Maybe splurge a little on somewhere else and then save money when you get back.

Hi, Although we will take a request from you we cannot guarantee a lower bunk Im afraid, it is dependant on how busy we are and the number of beds/stays in your dorm. Of course will always endeavour to honour your request but we do also have small private room available should this be something you are interested in.
