My new fave hotel, lovely staff in the bar. Super friendly and Eric made our stay. The Hangover Station really came in handy too. We got upgraded to an eight bedroom suite and it was amazing. Perfect for our insta pics.

We stumbled on the Shankly hotel by accident and from start to finish it was nothing short of incredible. Coming straight after the lockdown, we weren't sure about going away at all but like many people, just a glimpse of normality and having someone else cook dinner was too much to resist. When we arrived, the staff were attentive, friendly and professional it was clear that Jade (the Manager on duty, seconded from another group hotel) had a huge smile behind her PPE facemask and genuinely enjoyed working at the hotel. She simply couldn't do enough for people...they ALL worked hard as a team and for a limited menu, they did exceptionally well to keep everyone happy (whilst still smiling). It's a busy hotel and has some large parties but the setting and the hugely respectful nod to the Shankly family's legacy make it really stand out. Having seen a few of the other rooms that the owners had painstakingly decorated in whimsical styles just made us all want to go back (including the Alice in Wonderland corridor complete with furniture on the ceiling). It's clean, fun, totally Liverpool and well worth a visit. We can't thank the team enough.

I recently booked this hotel for me and my boyfriend for his early birthday night away and unfortunately it didn’t add up to our expectations. From the website we thought it would be perfect but faults did start occurring. We booked this hotel mainly for the bath tub which was a disaster. Firstly the water was constantly on cold even though the temperature was on high, we then started the bath jets and dirt/grit came through them which was horrible and every time we restarted them, it happened again. Upon getting out the bath, my boyfriend slipped and his foot went underneath the door resulting in a broken toe, this was due to the height of the bath and no bath mats in the bathroom. My boyfriend spent the night in pain which unfortunately led to our date night (restaurant and bars) being cancelled. As a result of no bath mats we used the towels provided for our morning shower bare in mind it was freezing. We needed more towels so I tried to ring down to reception and couldn’t get through. After trying to phone down, I decided to go down and ask the reception staff they just responded with “I’ll deal with it in a minute” asked for my room number and said they’ll send someone up which never happened. Also, the corridors and surrounding rooms had a very strong scent of marijuana, with various other luxurious hotels and apartments in Liverpool, we could of spent the same money elsewhere. Various other appliances was broken. We had a plug socket that was hanging off (right side of the bed) and taps within the bathroom came off with our first twist. Spending this kind of money we was expecting it to live up to expectations. This hotel has so much potential, one thing we can’t fault was the receptionist at the hotel when we arrived (Steven) he was very helpful. Thanks. Sorry for the graphic image of his toe.
