Well I am a local and I visit reasonable regulary but as I sit in the beer garden I feel that I need to vent my spleen. Walked here with the dogs obtained a seat in the beer garden which is dog friendly. Walked inside one very young lad serving at a snails pace. I was the only other customer... More

First impressions not good, as we entered the building the first thing we noticed was a strong smell of stale beer, The "reception" is in fact part of the bar, and when the manager came to book us in I couldn't help but notice the clothes he was wearing were quite dirty. however the room wasn't too bad , the... I booked a table for 15 people at 3.30pm on 4th September, 2016, prior to a baptism service at the nearby All Saints Church. I booked the table six weeks previously and then made a further two phone calls to confirm the booking, since we were such a large party and it was an important event. The last phone call... More

On the positive side, this is a pub/restaurant within a lovely, historic building (possibly a listed building) in calm and peaceful surroundings in one of the more affluent suburbs of Liverpool. Prices for food and drink are reasonable. Views from the beer garden are very pleasant and, on the whole, there is a really good atmosphere, family friendly and a... More

Let me start off by saying that I have grown up locally and been going to the Abbey since I was a child! I even bought my first pint here aged 16 or so.. Moved away from the area but my family are still local. I've always had fond thoughts of the Abbey and I love the setting.. However, today... More

Stayed here for a couple of nights. A good alternative to the city centre hotels and situated in a nice quiet residential area. Rooms are comfortable and the bar meals are very good with plenty of options to suit all tastes. All the staff were very friendly, however, there could have been more in the bar as there were not... I ordered some non alcoholic drinks from the bar. Outside the lemonade tasted funny and my friends coke was flat I took the drinks back. The male bar staff took it upon himself to "educate me" as he put it not only did he do this he did it In Front of another customer. I kindly thanked him for the... More

Lovely food at a reasonable price. Lovely surrounding and extra nice when weather is nice and the outside seating area can be used. Feels like it's outside of Liverpool been though it is only down the road. Sure it would have a great atmosphere and feel around Christmas time- such a traditional feel to the place.

The building looks good and I must say the staff are great. The only problem is that they well under staffed. Paula was great and looked after me, as I was at the bar. Two bars and one member of staff. Not good at all. The only positive note was the room. It was very clean and I would recommend... More
