The room was a decent size; pity it was let down by only containing a double bed. Friendly/helpful staff. The lighting everywhere was poor. Especially bad in the bedroom and bathroom - not sufficient to apply make up. What made a sophisticated and moody evening dining experience became a dreary, soulless breakfast time. Breakfast was really poor value. Small cling-film covered ramekins of fizzy gone-off orange slices and brown sour apple pieces purporting to be fruit salad and less than ordinary eggs Benedict, thin, cardboard toast together with DIY coffee. When the room was 'serviced' our towels were not changed and one empty toilet roll was replaced by another with only a dozen or so sheets on it. Why don't we deserve a whole new one? We feel sad. We booked the Malmaison with such high expectations following a recent stay in Dundee.

Meant to be a special birthday treat. Beautiful beef but the whole meal was luke warm. Very disappointed in a hotel of this calibre. Waitress service was quite scarce. Had to wait ages for horseradish sauce despite menu saying it came with meat. Worse was that there was no loo roll in any of the ladies toilets. Brought both complaints to the attention of the waitress and reported to customer service. Customer service never replied. Will not return and would never recommend to anyone.

We stayed in this hotel for a weekend away with friends. My partner and I booked one of the better rooms which was bigger and had a dock view. Upon checking into our room we found this to be unclean, there were clumps of hair in the shower as well as in the bed which honestly looked like the sheets hadn’t been cleaned nor had the bathroom. This isn’t acceptable at the best of times let alone during covid. We complained to the overnight reception staff to be told that there was nothing they could do as the hotel was full due to a wedding. There was no sleep that night also due to the extremely loud music coming from a party 3 floors below us. The following morning the staff could not have been more apologetic and helpful. We were given a new (clean) room and a complimentary bottle of Prosecco, along with multiple bar vouchers. We were given a choice of rooms and due to another wedding that night where given a higher room. The breakfast was good and staff accommodating with any requests that the guests had. The hotel is a great location for Liverpool city centre and the local attractions. We can’t help but think that the hotel is dealing with some teething problems with new staff following the reopening and handed out bar vouchers in a hope to smooth over the cracks. The check in reception staff however were fabulous and couldn’t do enough to try and help.

Such a lovely hotel, staff are attentive and really friendly. Breakfast to our room was so nice, and a lot to choose from, a bit expensive but you definitely get what you pay for. The room is so comfortable and view and location is perfect. A bit crap that parking isn’t included but isn’t the end of the world. Thanks for a great stay
