I recently stayed in Liverpool with my brother as we were attending a music event in the city. Having never visited the city before I had no idea where to stay but liked the idea of having an apartment hotel so that we could have our breakfast things in our rooms and eat when we liked as we knew we were in for a couple of very late nights! We were both really pleased with our accommodation which was modern, clean and well thought out. The studios each have an equipped kitchen with fridges, kettles, Nespresso machines, toasters, crockery, cutlery, glassware and a small hob and dishwasher. There was washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, tea towel etc. It was quite a hot weekend and we were on the 4th floor. The corridor was pretty warm but the studios are air conditioned and all the windows open so keeping cool enough was no problem. In the reception area you can borrow gadgets from the gadget library (great idea!) and they also sell some basic provisions. Alternatively you can pay for breakfast in the breakfast room but we didn’t venture up to do this as we were lying in late! The welcome was very friendly and efficient and on checkout we were able to store our luggage in the large luggage room. We couldn’t fault the service. The hotel is centrally located, about a five minute walk from Lime Street Station or Liverpool One. Coming back late at night you can access the hotel using your room key card and, once through the main doors, the nice security man just checks your name and room number before letting you use the lifts to the room floors. You can’t actually get to the room floors without using your room key card in the lift but this extra level of security overnight is reassuring. Just one star less than perfect because the pillows are a bit flat and spongy (I took my own) and the towels are thin. But for the price it’s fine and these things are easy enough to carry with you. All in all a very good stay and would recommend and return.

When I first started coming to Liverpool the Lewis building was being renovated so I've stayed in several hotels the good, the bad and the Adelphi. Then finally Adagio opened and it was worth the wait. You're minutes away from busses, trains, shops, restaurants and pubs, and if you'd rather eat at home there is a fridge, microwave and cooker supplied along with a dishwasher I may actually use someday! If you feel you've spent too much time in pubs and restaurants Adagio has a gym to work off your guilt and calories, and there is also a laundry. I also found staff to be friendly and helpful. In my humble opinion Adagio is hard to beat if you're looking for a good place to stay in Liverpool.

We were lucky to get rooms for the champions league final - the staff were great, location very central. Our rooms were very clean and despite the noise outside from the celebrations we had quiet and a brilliant nights sleep , particularly like the fact that the curtains keep the room in darkness so we slept till after 10 after a very late night!

I would have given a 3.5 if I had a choice. First the pros: convenient location to train stations, both Lime Street and Central; close to many restaurants and night life and supermarkets; comfy bed; large bathroom; clean and generally tidy (the inside). The cons: the proximity to night life does mean you have to bear a bit of noise during the night. I was on the first floor facing the main street and the noise just didn't die down until 4 am on weekends. The short street that leads to the main entrance is shabby and smells badly. Every time I had to hold my breath and ran to get inside. It requires key cards to get in and I think there's a surveillance camera too but as a single travellor I did not feel entirely safe when it gets dark. These are not something the Hotel can control though. My 25M double-bed studio does not have much room to move around, unless you fold up the bed. I did try but the condition of the sofa underneath did not attract me to sit on so throughout my stay I left the bed as it was. I have to share with some fellow reviewers' view that the service was kind of lukewarm. I told the lady at the reception when I was registering that I have to leave a day earlier than scheduled. All she was concerned about was whether I was expecting a refund, which under no circumstance did I intend to. When I said I did understand that and was certainly not expecting one, she went on to talk about a "check-in fee" of GBP10 and another GBP100 for deposit. I knew about the latter but was surprised at the first part. She then explained I would get the GBP 100 back on the day of check-out if I pay cash or later if by card. I said I understand that part but then when I asked about what the GBP10 was about again she said it was "early" check-in fee. Well, I knew I was early and probably had missed the word but at the point I thought I was only registering. When I told her I did not need the early check-in, she said she had already inputted that into the computer and I was left with no choice. Well, GBP10 for a 2-hour early check-in is not a bad deal, but I think this should have been more clearly explained to a customer, who apparently is not a local. Adding to the backdrop of my early check-out I think service standard could have been higher. I know this is probably not written in the regulations but certain friendly gestures, such as offering one free breakfast, could be a good way to let customers know you care. When I did check out after a 3-night stay for a 4-night booking, this time the guy at the reception similarly was lukewarm - he was only concerned that someone must be sent ASAP to make sure the condition of the apartment was okay before he could release my GBP100 cash deposit to me. Will probably not stay here again.

JJB, Thanks for your review of your stay in Liverpool. There was a real party atmosphere in Liverpool this weekend due to the Cahmpions League Final taking place on Saturday and the Liverpool FC Parade taking place on Sunday, Both days were extremely busy in town with many people in Liverpool to enjoy the atmosphere of the city with both days extending until the early hours of the morning. Your booking was made via an online travel agent for a 4 ngiht minimum stay. Check in is advised as 3pm and the security deposit requirement is confirmed as part of your confirmation. You should have been fully aware of this before your arrival at the property. On arrival you were given the choice to leave your bags for free or have an early check in, I am sorry if you felt this was not explained fully. All apartments have cooking facilites for you to prepare your own breakfast or if we required we have Full cooked buffet brakfast avialble as a paid extra. As you paid your dpeosit in cash, the apartment is checked by the team in order to return your deposit prior to you leaving the Aparthotel. Richard Carline - General Manager

Stayed here for 2 nights as we were going to Aintree to watch madness on the Fri night. Excellent location. Train to Aintree is 10 mins and the station is opposite. Room was large and very clean. Beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was very stylish the only downside for me was the bath was very deep so hard to get into being short! Couldn't get the air con to work so phoned reception and he was up and had it fixed in minutes! Check in guy was very helpful and friendly. Will definitely book again.
