The Royal Hotel has a history going back to the early nineteenth century and the building has some interesting period details that have been preserved. It looks as if it has been refurbished relatively recently. My mistake was not to ask for a sea view so our room was at the back with a noisy extractor fan nearby (kitchens?). The... More

Thank you for your review. A couple of our rear rooms do overlook a kitchen extractor, however, this is turned off from around 9.30pm until morning. We have also fitted tripple glazing to the two rooms directly around the extractor to mimimise noise. We would love to be able to put the extractor elsewhere, however, being 200 years old and... Stayed a night while travelling North. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly - you felt welcomed! Room was clean and comfy, in fact we both (husband & I) slept very well. Had an evening meal in the bar, which was good - but have to say it was a superb breakfast, the Eggs Benedict was fab, best I've had!... More

Three of us ate in the conservatory. You order at the bar and food is brought to the table. We all had local black pudding to start / delicious. Steaks were cooked as requested, chips were crispy. Wine was reasonable (14.95!) Cheerful attentive service. Car park at the front of the hotel. If you sit in the conservatory you can... More

Stayed for 1 night in August 2016 and it was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, tidy and had all the amenities I required. Very comfortable bed and a great peaceful nights sleep.

Good staff, good meal. Comfy bed. You will have a perfectly good nights sleep. There is just something missing, just the last few little things. Then it would get a 5 but for the price very good to stay.

Tucked away, set back from the Crosby coastline, this Georgian-built hotel is a bit of a hidden gem. I popped in for a coffee here with friends, discovering a sumptuous lounge, straight out of an Victorian novel! Okay, so it's showing some signs of wear and tear, but it still 'cuts the mustard' with us. Starbucks, Costa - forget it.... More

Hi, Thank you for your review. We are constantly improving and refurbishing this building which is no easy job as we are Grade 2 Listed historic building. We have for example last week renewed all of our lounge tables. Our coffee, is roasted for us locally by Joe Black in neighbouring Bootle and we are pleased that we did better... More

Surprised to find menu which was already quite varied including options for turning a meat meal into vegetarian option replacing meat with quorn. Great idea and works really well. Food was really lovely with the quorn alternative, very substantial and staff very friendly and helpful, even when busy.

Thank you for your review. As we cook our food from fresh, it allows us to offer more choice on our dishes than say a chain pub using "ready meals". This means we can offer quorn as an alternative to meat which is good not only for vegetarian diets, but also for a healthier alternative We hope to welcome you... More

Having booked last minute and without much research (other than finding out that the hotel was close to Anthony Gormley's statues), we were pleasantly surprised by this independent hotel. Our family room was clean and spacious, the beds comfy and with a plentiful tea tray. Although the room was a little warm, a fan had been thoughtfully provided and we... More
