Unlike other reviews I have seen I found the staff very pleasant and all in all downstairs in the shared areas the atmosphere is really nice and the building has loads of character. Add to that the location on the park opposite the lake and so far so good....The issue is when you go to your room and it feels... More

The rudest receptionist you could ever meet. We went for a family celebration and they were totally rude and unhelpful. The food itself was fine, but ruined by the staff. Avoid at all costs. Only noticed later lots of other negative comments.

If I could give this place any less than 1 star I would. The staff attitude is outrageous. Rude and surly. Rubbish from previous customers everywhere and apparently in their words, tidying up glasses and food from tables 'is not their priority'. Stay away, there are plenty of other places in the area to spend your money.

Booked afternoon tea for a 30th birthday. Terrible service, they got the orders wrong, there was 20 people but orders were placed in advance. The tea was bought out in pairs so we had to share across tables. Drinks were not served until the end..... The vegetarian option was pathetic, lettuce and dry bread. Cakes were forgotten and then we... More

We arrived to be greeted by a torn face receptionist whom clearly we kept her back as we arrived a bit late due to diversions. Once we got to our room it was poky and humid you could hardly swing a cat. Plus the curtains on the veloux window was hopeless there was no point or use in it at... More

I Visited The Sefton Park hotel June 2016, on checking in I was greeted with a receptionist that was very rude. My room was on the second floor and I asked the receptionist if there was a lift or any help as I had luggage. she stated that guests have to take their own baggage to their rooms, turned her... Room smelt of paint. No plug in the wash hand basin. Curtain pelmet had fallen off which meant we couldn't close the curtains properly. When we reported this to reception we were advised that the maintenance department were already aware of the problems and would repair whilst we were out for the afternoon. When we checked out the next day,... More

We got a deal off booking.com £42 room only on a Wednesday night. The room ( 304) was a double on top floor. It was small and quite basic. It was clean and recently painted. The bathroom was small and shower was ok. Bed was comfortable. The young staff on reception were very friendly and helpful. The disappointment for us- chef went... More

We booked a triple room for a Saturday night which was £189 - for that we expected something half decent and that at least breakfast would be included. Not so. The room was small and shabby - the pelmet had fallen down, curtain broken and no plug in sink. It resembled a bad hostel not city hotel charging near enough... More

We stayed here for one night in a family room. The room was on the front of the house with a lovely view of Sefton park and lake. It was a spacious room and was very clean. The only fault was the other inconsiderate guests who were very noisy during the night and early morning but this was not the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sefton Park Hotel is a beautifully restored Victorian Villa overlooking the Boating Lake in Sefton Park, the largest park in Liverpool. It is one of the original detached houses on the perimeter of the park where rich merchants and shipping magnates once lived in style. Today it offers a warm friendly welcome, comfortable accommodation and quality food and drink which is served in Astrid's Bar and Michelngelo's Italian Restaurant. More modern history confirms that 'The Blenheim' was, infact, the family home of the fifth Beatle, Stuart Sutcliffe in the 1960s. Stuart's family continued to live here until 1970. ... more   less
