Having been to Liverpool only a couple of weeks ago, we decided to come again for my birthday on January 14th. Booked The Adelphi for 1 night, cost £62, great value. Room was massive, clean and very warm which was needed at this time of year. Evening 3 course meal was great value and enjoyable. Waves bar has good prices...

What a shame that this hotel has obviously become so rundown. The bedroom furniture was shabby and outdated and the bed really uncomfortable. The bathroom needed a good overhaul with exposed pipes and very mediocre fittings. The room didn't appear to have been cleaned very well because there was a half-full bottle of wine left in the corner! As it...

Oh dear. Where to begin. Pleasant helpful staff but faded, worn out hotel that is desperate for upgrade and refurbishment. No overhead lighting in dark gloomy room, room lit by two side lights one of which broke late evening - had to use torch on phone for extra light! Pillows on bed smelt awful - i ended up wrapping a...

We decided to stay here last minute, we live in Liverpool but have never been to this hotel. I have to be honest and admit it's has a dubious reputation in the last few years. However as we were going into Liverpool for drinks with friends we decided to give it a shot plus for £40 for a double room...

Disinterested, not very welcoming reception staff, lifts out of order, cocktail bar which closes at 9:30 on a Friday night. Rooms not conducive with a grand building, bathroom dated and very tired. Over priced for what it offers. I won't be staying again any time soon

Stopped for lunch as part of a large coach party, I was impressed with the swift service and quality of the meal. I had a large portion of Beef and Mushroom pie with all the trimmings which was easily as good as any I have had. Lovely surroundings, very friendly staff, will be returning for more of the same. Thank...

First time staying here (just for one night) although I've visited the public rooms quite often and spent a lot of time at the swimming pool in the 70s and 80s. A bit apprehensive reading some of the posts on here and the bargain (absolute bargain) rate I got for the room. But....oh my! The room on the 2nd floor...

I have stayed at the Adelphi many times and have always loved it. However, unless there are plans for refurbishment, I will not be returning. The good points: The heating in the room was good and the room was never cold. Plenty of drawers and wardrobe space and the room was a good size. Staff were pleasant, especially in the...

Reception staff not interested in dealing with guests, only if they are paying for their rooms. Our hotel room was huge, with twin beds, which were comfortable. Bathroom was a disgrace, needed ripping out and modernising. Missing toilet roll holder, cracked sink and dirty floor. Bedroom carpet was dirty and stained, basin in bedroom but like the bathroom basin, the...

Seriously in need of renovation. Windows taped up with gaffer tap, heating not working so the room was freezing. Hot water only worked in morning. Bathroom and the room was filthy and bathroom decor is shabby and broken. Definitely not worth the £72 rate we paid, seriously appalled at the place.
