My sister and I stayed in this lovely Victorian hotel for two nights and the accommodation was perfect. The room was cosy, the ensuite bathroom was impressive and the location was fantastic. The hotel is not too far from the train station and we found it easily. We didn't mind the steep climb to and from the shops and the hotel and the... We stayed here unexpectedly as a friend had booked it for herself and her husband however she became ill and asked us if we would like to go in their place. What a treat! We arrived at the Poplars B&B and were immediately impressed, very welcoming, stunning views, lovely rooms, and very close to the castle and cathedral (with a... More

Professionally run boarding house in a large three storey Victorian property, which offers a buffet breakfast. Some rooms share bathrooms. Excellent location for the castle and cathedral. The property is on a very steep hill, so you need strong knees to get up and down.

Quite a nice spot that they have, at the end of a road. Very quiet. Owners were great - fun to talk with and informative. Lovely grounds to walk around and a pair of cats for entertainment. My room was adequately sized, and quiet, with a window that was easy to open. Breakfast was self-serve and well stocked in what... More

Spent two nights here. A mother and daughter weekend trip. Perfectly situated, I cannot fault any aspect of this site. Modern bathroom with traditional decor elsewhere. There was incredible attention to detail for guests convenience, from umbrellas and maps by the front door, to boxes of tissues in the bedroom. The staff were discreet and unobtrusive, encouraging that home from... More

Very comfortable bed , great view from bedroom and breakfast room windows . The place has a very homely feel and the staff are helpful and friendly . Only stayed for one night but wished it was for longer as this was such a lovely place , tucked away but still near the center of the city .

Stayed for my graduation, just one night. Perfect location, not too far to walk in heels to the cathedral. The room was lovely, views perfect, not the most modern but incredibly homely. Breakfast was basic but all in all, for the price, absolutely wonderful! The owners are very sweet too :) The only thing to note for me was the... More
