We didn't stay here overnight but we couldn't get in elsewhere for Sunday lunch so we went here. We were pleasantly surprised. For around £10 each, we got a drink and a generous main course. The quality of the food was good, and it was really filling too. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend. Nice beer garden too.

We stayed here overnight after a murder mystery evening on the Great Central Railway. I'd stayed at Old English Inns before and know although generally very good décor inside can vary. I hadn't realised that this hotel had recently been refurbished to a high standard. Everything looked new and stylish. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable in a quiet location.... More

This was our second visit since the refurbishment and I would say that the Fieldhead is not back up to the standard that it used to be, it is much better. The rooms are good, the bar and restaurant are greatly improved as are the management and staff. One thing I did notice, no more sticky tables, they were cleaned... More

We were a party of 4, and went for a meal on a Friday evening. Parking/outside area really good. The restaurant and bar flowed all into one but with separate alcoves to choose from. I liked the set up for eating as you were quite private and had lots of space. One of the party had fish and chips, but... More

Stayed the night here and could happily have stayed longer. The building is lovely and surrounded by scenic countryside. The facilities were excellent and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was very good and ther was plenty of choice. Only complaint would be that there wasn't much else within walking distance.

Stayed here again for our annual get together with friends from the area. The place has had a refurb which oozes quality and 'a feeling of homeliness'. Rooms really clean( wife's suffers from ocd) so check a everything and even she couldn't find a problem, room was spotless. The bar feels more like a nice little country pub, only down... More

We looked at the menu and it looked varied and had a very competent steak listing so we assumed it would be of a good standard........NO I had a sirloin asked for medium it was over cooked... More

Called in at the restaurant on Sunday, property looked as if it had just ben refurbished and was very nice with plenty of separate eating areas in the bar. There was a good range of dishes on the menu and my partner chose the roast beef Sunday lunch whilst I had the sirloin steak. The food was served quite quickly... More

stayed here for the past 2 night. Poor quality sleep. Our room was over the reception doorway, the front reception door needs sorting out. Every time it opened it scrapes on the floor which is very loud and really annoying. Restaurant ok , average.staff pleasant.
