A very traditional guest house/hotel, clean and comfortably furnished. The staff are welcoming and efficient. The rooms are a little bit dated but that did not detract from our stay. A little coffee shop/bar (limited range of drink but it is basically just a cafe for residents) opens onto a terrace to the front of the hotel and makes a... More

Clean, comfortable room with a great shower! Nice breakfast and friendly staff. Only 20 min walk to the lake, past interesting shops and places to eat. Has it's own car park, free wi-fi, and the building itself has an interesting history. I'll gladly return next year!

We visited Ellerthwaite for two nights for the second time. There was an initial mix up that was very easily explained, apologised for and rectified. We offered to swap rooms as a gentleman rang to request a room with a bath (we overheard conversation) and, as it was my birthday and the room was available, we were upgraded to the... More

This is the 2nd time we stayed at Ellerthwaite Lodge. Why? Because it was really good the 1st time. So I need not go into too much detail about the place. But for those who are undecided as to where to stay in the south Lake, need look no further. The B & B - professionally run and the service... More

Just returned from a two night break at the Ellerthwaite Lodge, Widermere. The hotel is very clean and the staff make you feel very welcome. Our room had a nice big window and a window seat, very comfortable bed with plenty of hot water and refreshments in the hospitality tray. However, the breakfast deserves special mention. Excellent quality and cooked... More

My partner and I booked this last minute on booking.com and got an immediate confirmation. The hotel is a stone's throw from the centre of lovely Windermere and easy to find with parking available. Ann greeted us and showed us to our room which was bright, spotlessly clean and well furnished. We had a lovely time in Windermere and would... More

Really loved my stay here. Only booked last minute and got a really nice room looking up to Windermere centre. Only possible fault would be the wifi signal was poor (at least in my room) but that didn't really matter much as I barely had any need for it
