We have just returned home from a 2 night stay. Our room was a double at the front of the hotel. It was adequate size, with a beautiful bathroom, but the bedroom could have benefited from a refurb. Because we were at the front, the road noise was excessive, as there was only single glazing. We were awake until 3am... More

I was between 3 and 4 stars for this hotel. It's in a great location just 2 mins out of Windermere and a 15 min walk to the lake. The breakfast was really nice. The room was quite clean but just very dated. The carpets throughout the hotel need replacing and hotel needs redecorating. However for the money we paid... More

We had to arrive late which the hotel were kindly able to accomodate. Our room was nice and comfortable, we slept well and had a nice view from the window. It was very clean, and the bathroom was very clean too. The shower was nice with good heat and water pressure. There was free wifi, although it did cut out... More

The lodge is well placed for access to near by shops and eateries. It has ample free parking and although the wifi was a bit slow when in our room it worked and it was free. Our room was smaller than the ones in the pictures but it was very clean, tidy and the bath room looked like it was... More

We've stayed a few times, twice before we had our baby & twice since. Always a good experience. Good location for both Windermere & Bowness, breakfasts great & rooms ok - perhaps a little tired in terms of decor, occasionally cold (single glazing) & not always cleaned as much as you'd expect (cobwebs covered in dust hanging from ceiling etc).... Easy to find no sat nav needed . I arrived with my daughter for a 3 day holiday. After a small mix up on both sides we settled into a twin room. Plenty of tea /coffee making facilities in the room which was good .The shower was great!! not like a lot of places I have stayed in and I... More

A very traditional guest house/hotel, clean and comfortably furnished. The staff are welcoming and efficient. The rooms are a little bit dated but that did not detract from our stay. A little coffee shop/bar (limited range of drink but it is basically just a cafe for residents) opens onto a terrace to the front of the hotel and makes a... More

Clean, comfortable room with a great shower! Nice breakfast and friendly staff. Only 20 min walk to the lake, past interesting shops and places to eat. Has it's own car park, free wi-fi, and the building itself has an interesting history. I'll gladly return next year!

We visited Ellerthwaite for two nights for the second time. There was an initial mix up that was very easily explained, apologised for and rectified. We offered to swap rooms as a gentleman rang to request a room with a bath (we overheard conversation) and, as it was my birthday and the room was available, we were upgraded to the... More

This is the 2nd time we stayed at Ellerthwaite Lodge. Why? Because it was really good the 1st time. So I need not go into too much detail about the place. But for those who are undecided as to where to stay in the south Lake, need look no further. The B & B - professionally run and the service... More
