Booked The Hillthwaite for 2 nights in early September and stayed in ‘Langdale’. Beautiful room, excellent staff both front of house and waiting on. Santa and the evening Maitre d’hotel ( with the nice ties) have our special mention. Great food, drink in a very relaxed atmosphere with all hotel business conducted professionally with the current situation. Our second time there and will definitely return.

Have visited the Hillthwaite on a number of occasions over the past few years, and it never disappoints. Returned home today from a three day visit. It felt good to be back at The Hillthwaite .Our room was good, bath and shower facilities excellent. Breakfast and evening meal amazing. Staff welcoming and friendly, particularly the restaurant manager and Santa who looked after us so well at breakfast service. Blessed with lovely weather and spent some time relaxing in gardens and enjoying the view. We chatted to a few other guests, all clearly ‘regulars’ who enjoyed the Hillthwaite as much as we do.Hope to see you soon.

Firstly I would like to say thank you to all of the staff we have come into contact with over the last few days. They are truly a credit to your lovely establishment. To say I needed this break away would be only touching the tip of the iceberg. Due to recent times and being in my job within the NHS on an intensive care unit (Which I have not disclosed prior to this review) has meant me and my partner have had little rest since the end of last year. This has well and truly been worth the wait. From arrival till now all staff members have been nothing but friendly and accommodating to the best of their abilities. We were even lucky enough to be told on arrival we had been given a complementary upgrade. I don’t think we realised how much we needed this break until we got here and have been able to unwind. A little bit of kindness certainly goes a long way and all of your wonderful team have certainly shown us this throughout our stay. We will certainly be sad to leave tomorrow but we will hopefully be back sometime in the near future. Many Thanks Rebecca

We’ve just returned from spending 2 nights here. We should have stayed at the end of March but due to lockdown, we had to re-arrange. Amending the booking was not a problem at all for them. Our room was a Classic Room Plus and was very spacious with lovely views across to the lake and the hills. The bathroom was a really good size and the water pressure from the shower was excellent! It’s so peaceful there too due to the elevated location. The steep driveway takes a bit of getting used to. There was a great choice of breakfast also and very tasty. Staff were all very friendly. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will be back to stay here again for sure.
