The perfect little guest house! The room was cosy, fresh and clean, good comfortable bed, good shower and delicious breakfast. Free parking (plenty of it). 2 mins walk from Windermere and 15 to Bowness. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely return if back in the area!
Stayed for 1 night to celebrate a friends Birthday and received a very warm welcome before being given a lovely room. Great location and fabulous breakfast. Aga was so friendly and made us feel so welcome we will definitely be returning for a longer stay in the future. Thank you !
We have just returned from an amazing three night stay at the Howbeck, we stayed in the Greenburn mini suite and it was fabulous. The whole experience from arrival to departure was first class. The breakfasts were great quality and really set you up for the day. We will definitely return!
Had a fantastic stay here!! Brilliant location and fabulous staff led by Steve who all could’ve be more helpful!! Delightful room topped off with a jacuzzi!! Wouldn’t look anywhere else when we return!! Added bonuses were discounted restaurants and free health spa pass in connection with the Howbeck!! Thank you all 👌
Stayed for 5 nights. Room was spacious, warm and welcoming. Thoughtful decor throughout, successfully mixing some beautiful antiques with some modern pieces. Very clean throughout. Spacious bathroom with spa bath and excellent shower. The breakfasts were exceptional with a large choice of hot meals. Would reccommend! Steve, Aga and Danielle made us feel welcome and were professional and happy to help. Definitely returning to this one !
Had a two night stay- the Howbeck is a short walk to Windermere (not Bowness). Clean, tidy and friendly staff. Breakfast is a quality meal, setting you up for a fun filled day of excisions and the highest bar is a nice touch.
We visited recently and stayed in the retreat. The location is brilliant for both Bo’ness and Windermere. The room is spacious I just feel it needs updating it’s not as nicely decorated compared to the other rooms in my opinion. The decor didn’t go together. The table didn’t feel stable at all I was worried to cut my breakfast up on it as it tilted. Having said that the room is as pictures but once there it’s the impression I got. You get quite a large outside area which would be lovely in summer it’s private and secluded. The breakfast in our retreat was a lovely surprise my partner didn’t realise we got that when he booked it, you pre order the night before and select what time you want it and it comes to your room. It was really nice. The bathroom is modern and the bath, wow it’s amazing. No TV in the bathroom after 10pm as it needs to be loud over the jets so that’s understandable for other guests. Overall we was pleasantly impressed and we would return.…
Stayed at the Howbeck for one night whilst attending a wedding in the area. Wouldn’t rate this 5* to be honest. Our draughty room on the ground floor front of house had no heating for our stay. Not great when it’s frosty outside. We struggled to get any sleep it was that cold. Decor and furnishings about passable for 3/4* but certainly not 5* luxury. Breakfast was passable, again certainly nothing to write positive comments about. Only thing going for it is it’s location. and on-site parking. Needless to say we won’t be back!
What a fantastic place to stay! I booked this trip for my husband for Christmas and what a god choice it was. Situated in a great spot within walking distance of both Bowness and Windermere. The room was gorgeous and the bathroom had a spa bath which was so needed after a day walking around Windermere. The host Steve was brilliant - helping to advise on walks around the lake and places to visit. He was so welcoming and friendly. We are definitely coming back!
Had a lovely time, nice guest house, good location, we stayed in the Lingmell room ,right next to the front door, nicely decorated, just a bit noisy due to people coming in and out at night, wardrobe could do with being updated as didn’t shut, tv situated right in front of the mirror so awkward to see through for drying hair, mirror in bathroom in awkward place to dark , needs a pull out mirror near sink, very clean, kettle in bedroom, with Tea , coffee, hot chocolate, facilities, good breakfast, the young lady that served our breakfast was lovely, very polite, bit misleading re the spa facilities as you have to drive, so we didn’t use it, they have a nice lounge with a honesty bar, but have to be out at 23.00 hrs, we would stay again but in different room
