We visited The Samling in December 2021 for a special birthday treat for my wife. It didn't disappoint. It's a classy hotel with a high quality feel about the entire place. It has a lovely bar area with big fires, original artwork and lots of stylish areas to relax. The restaurant is high quality with a beautiful view over Windermere. There is a jacuzzi which we used once and was great. We stayed this November in above 5* hotel nearby mainly due to the more extensive spa and regretted the decision. The Samling is a class above and we'd definitely prioritse going back next year.

The Samling hotel has been on my bucket list for many years so I was excited to be visiting. The stay, from arrival to departure, was out of this world. It lived up to, and exceeded, all of my expectations. Firstly the welcome from the staff could not have been warmer… it was professional but also very friendly and unpretentious. Then the room… we stayed in a luxury double and it was AMAZING!! Could not fault it at all and everything was pure luxury with so much space. The emperor bed and the pillows/mattress…. Wow… I really didn’t want to leave! We had the 7 course tasting menu in the beautiful panoramic restaurant. The food and service was exquisite but, as I have said, also unpretentious. The staff can’t do enough for you but also made the experience a joy. Will we return……100%. Would love to try the other restaurant and explore different parts of the hotel. Highly highly recommended.

At long last we’ve managed to redeem our Xmas vouchers from three years ago. We enjoyed some lovely , tasty , flavorsome starters followed by a fantastic main course and finished with a delicious dessert. The service was great and the view was stunning. Will definitely visit again

Fabulous food and views ! Lunch set menu was a sensation and fairly priced. It's confusing why we were the only guests, but as a table of 4 we had all the professional attention of the staff and the incredible views to ourselves. Highly recommend, the food, the wine list and the service. Top tip.. go before it gets a michelin * because it will have one soon I'm sure, or like everywhere else in the lakes you won't be able to get a table!

Had the most amazing lunch today. Everything was perfect. Wonderful table with a view. Attentive welcoming service. Each course was delicious. The flavours were carefully balanced. When I booked I said it was a treat for a friends birthday. At the end of the meal they brought a beautiful plate with Happy Birthday written in chocolate. Such a lovely touch. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend

Just returned from my 4th outstanding visit to The Samling. It's nice to see a familiar face or two who are not lacking any enthusiasm and are still delivering excellent service. The service was very good, the food - especially the bread and the apple 4th course were exceptional, as was the ambiance and every detail down to the coffee and tableware. Also a very good price. I tried the cheese course this time and it was a great experience. I'm proud to tell people about The Samling. Thank you

A booking that was made nearly 6 months before the event and for me it had to be right. From start to finish Rebecca the Operations manager took great care in making all of the colleagues on duty aware of all the details - with all of my very ‘particular’ requirements - from the fine details of the four course menu, the pairing of the wine, seating plans and timings for presentations of flowers and cakes all perfect. I kept saying my mother was only going to be 80 once so it had to be right. It wasn’t just right it was extraordinarily special, which could only have been accomplished by the team on staff at The Samling. Attentive, knowledgeable, polished, approachable and all with personality, to find all of that in one establishment is rare in my experience. No statues just humans who cared about the work and service they provide. The nine guests in my party felt throughly looked after and very special and nothing was too much trouble. Most importantly my mother had an 80th Birthday celebration she felt she will never forget. - time passed so quickly that the last guest left at 7.30pm! Even if it is only for tea or coffee enjoy the views, atmosphere and the conversation, better still treat yourself and have Afternoon Tea, a long leisurely Lunch, or stay in the exceptional room we stayed in for two nights and have a beautiful Dinner to marvel over. Whatever you choose, food, accommodation, staff will all definitely exceed your expectations. Enjoy!

As soon as we entered the hotel lobby we knew we going to have an enjoyable afternoon. The hotel and gardens are wonderful and the modern glass walled restaurant is amazing but also compliments the traditional old building. It is obvious to see why the restaurant is glass walled. The views are just stunning. Service is exceptional. Friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. Many thanks to our lovely waitress Lisa and Rebecca the manager. The food was beautifully presented, inventive, concentrating on local produce. The lamb hogget was absolutely delightful. The wine list is extensive and very reasonably priced. We finished the afternoon in the beautiful traditional drawing room with coffee and calvados. Loved the experience so much we have already reserved lunch when we return to the UK in six months time.

What an absolutely excellent hotel. Everything about our stay in The Samling in Kentmere was utterly perfect. Given that it was the August BH week in the Lake District and everywhere was so busy, The Samling was the most peaceful and relaxing haven amidst all the bustle. The views from our room and the hireable private hot tub were absolutely outstanding, the service was perfect and the food was absolutely fantastic - they catered brilliantly for me as a vegan. We booked 2 nights in the Kentmere suite and the room was lovely. Fitted and furnished to a very high standard we slept so well in the vast bed, and loved the attentive and unobtrusive housekeeping. This was honestly one of the most lovely hotels that we have ever stayed in. Highly recommended.

Visited the Samling for our 1 year wedding anniversary at the end of April, earlier this year (apologies for the delayed review!). The 7 course tasting menu was exceptional, the views were the best we came across in the Lakes, and the service was friendly and engaging. I can’t recall the name of the waitress who attended to us throughout the evening, however she was very knowledgable and explained each dish clearly, along with some history of the local area. Memorable experience and we hope to visit again one day! Thank you for a great evening :)
