We have just spent a third holiday at The Windermere Hotel and were, as usual, delighted with our stay. This time our room was 208, on the second floor with a beautiful view of Windermere and as we'd taken binoculars, we were able to watch the boats travelling up and down the lake. The room was clean, fresh and welcoming,... More

I will start with the good bits - friendly helpful reception staff who were always smartly dressed and polite. There was always hot water whatever time you wanted a bath. The food quality was good but small portions and inexpensive meals such as quiche and sausage as dinner options. The room was quiet and the beds comfortable. Parking is allocated... More

Visited the hotel on the 25/6 for a week with my son(19) and daughter(17).Initial thoughts on seeing the outside of the hotel with a few rotten window frames and peeling paint was one of apprehension then being allocated a room with what sounded like an industrial washing machine under my bed I wondered what I had let myself in for.At... Dear Reviewer, I am glad that we were able to find you a more suitable room straight away and I am very pleased to hear that you found the service ‘faultless’ and the service and food to be the best you have encountered. We are very lucky to have the walk to Orrest Head situated just behind the hotel, which... More

Having read some of the reviews I wasn't sure but decided to book a long weekend for my husband and I. Get real people, we paid £277 for a 3 night weekend at peak season in a tourist hot spot with allocated parking, breakfast served to order and a 3 course evening meal all served with fast and friendly service.... The extra price upgrade was a good idea - you get a better view. The meals were fine, but the drinks were on the dear side. The staff were very welcoming. The idea of a reserved car park was good, but the spaces are very narrow for a wide car. We have been here before and we will definitely come... More

Nice hotel, nice breakfast in Lake District. We stayed one night only, as we were travelling to York. Beautiful bed. Nice location. Quite an old building. Nice view of the lake. Friendly service of the staff.

Quite an old building with minor updates. Bedroom decent size and comfortable bed. Two chairs, unlike many bed and breakfast places. The update to en suite means a rather small bath/shower room. The over-bath shower difficult for my wife and bath impossible. This addition tends to make for a tight fit on each side of the bed. Old style casement... More
