I stayed in Holbeck over 10 years ago with family and the hotel had very fond memories so decided to return with my husband and it absolutely met those expectations although fell short in a couple of small areas. Positives: - We stayed in the Easdale Tarn which is a new building and has without doubt the most amazing view....

Great location, fantastic service and excellent food and drinks. The attention to detail was second to none. Would highly recommend for a winter stay due to it's location overlooking the lake. I will be coming back in the summer. Thanks for a splendid visit!

From Granddad to teenager this break had it all and perfection sums it up! The Christmas experience was second to none and all of us can't wait until next time. We've stayed as a romantic couple as well as family with a teenage son and daughter plus Granddad and all have enjoyed it. The food, service and professional service is...

We had a pre Christmas break for three nights, not our first visit to Holbeck, it is our favourite place to stay. Without doubt its position is superb, we love the rooms in the main house always a lake view for us. But it is the staff that make Holbeck from the top down it is staffed seamlessly. Friendly, efficient...

After such a good Christmas at Holbeck in 2013, my wife and I decided to return this year along with our dog Mia for the four days over Xmas. From the moment we walked through the door to check in, till the time arrived to leave, the whole experience was as near to perfect as I think you can get....

A nice break away. The service and the hotel itself was wonderful. The room has excellent views and the location very good. We had a lovely walk one morning before breakfast into the surrounding hills Unfortunately it's the only time a Michelin meal did not live up to it's expectations. I had the tuna to begin and I'm sorry to...

My husband and I stayed at the lovely Holbeck Gyll Country House for my birthday in December and booked dinner there for the Saturday night. On the Friday night, we had enjoyed an absolutely superb meal at the nearby Punchbowl Inn (Crossthwaite) where the cooking was exceptional. We feared that this would be a difficult act to follow, but unfortunately...

Beautiful county house hotel perched above Lake Windermere with amazing vista, think coal burning fires, pine in the air, staff dressed in tweed, afternoon tea and gourmet cuisine. We stayed in a newly renovated cottage and had a stunning panoramic view of the Lake and mountains. Staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, Manager is charming and always available....

First time staying and eating dinner here after an Afternoon Tea visit early in 2014. Very pleasant staff, and a friendly welcome on a miserable day weather wise was a good start. Nice room, comfy bed, and a delicious michelin starred gourmet menu that night was a great way to have some pre Christmas relaxation. The wine pairings on the...

Having stayed here before, we did not think it could be better than the last time. How wrong could I be. It was even better.! Everything, from the room, dinner and breakfast was fantastic. The service you get here from all the staff cannot be matched from other places we have stayed in previously. They do the little things so...
