We had a really first class stay at the Coppice Guest House. It is one of the best guest houses we have stayed at. The owners, Beverly and Neil are delightful and Beverly was very welcoming and helpful.
The room was a lovely, well decorated and modern room. The ensuite shower room was beautifully appointed.
The breakfast was perfectly cooked and presented and there was a good choice of dishes.
The location of the guest house is perfect for both Windermere and Bowness with a short walk to the station (rail and bus).
We highly recommend the Coppice.

We stayed here for two nights as a base to explore Windermere and Bowness. The hotel is in a perfect location, an easy walk to both (although Bowness is downhill so those with limited mobility may wish to take this into consideration). You can park either in the car park or on the street and it was good to be able to leave the car and not drive for a few days.
A lovely friendly welcome from Beverly and lots of recommendations for eating, drinking etc. We had Room 8, top floor. It was perfect for our needs, comfortable, well furnished and clean. I mean CLEAN! You could practically eat your dinner in the bathroom. This room has the toilet separated from the shower, they have made the best use of space in this room. One thing I liked was the little dressing table - well thought out, having a chair, table/shelf, mirror, light and plug all together. I’ve stayed in too many places where a plug is nowhere near a mirror and you can’t see when drying your hair!
At the risk of repeating what previous reviews have said about breakfast, times are staggered to allow for easier social distancing and you just select your desired choice on the slip the evening before. We enjoyed our breakfast both mornings and it was really lovely to have a nice cooked breakfast every morning, be able to enjoy it in peace and quiet.
We had a lovely time exploring Windermere and Bowness, lots of nice places to walk, see, eat and drink in. We did find restaurant prices pretty high (even in comparison to city centre) but everything we had was enjoyable.
Overall, the Coppice was the ideal choice for us, we would 100% recommend it and would definitely be our first choice if returning to the area.

Neil and Beverley were excellent hosts and so welcoming. The room was lovely and breakfast offered all that you need. Beverley was so helpful in giving us the insight to local attractions, restaurants and bars which we took advantage of. The Coppice is only a 5 minute walk into Windermere and 20 minute walk from Bowness. We will definitely be going back to stay at the Coppice.

We stayed here for 3 nights, I had e mailed before arriving to check if the room came with a bath, I got no response.
The owner e mailed me for a ETA of arrival and I asked the question again to be informed it didn't have a bath and it was clear on the website, I do not think the website to be that clear and I found it very misleading, never the less we wanted a bath that much we paid extra to move room on arrival.
On day 2 the tea and coffee basket was removed and we had none in our room leading us to buy our own, for the price you pay you'd expect this to be left out for you to take.
On our last day my partner opened a yoghurt and it was green mouldy, I took it to the owner and her response was we had brought this from our room as it was peach not strawberry, after much discussion the owner realised this was a yoghurt from that day and despite her allegations it was not from our room, my partner was naturally very upset about this.
The room was of OK standard but could of done with a good hoover, on the last night we needed the blanket, the blanket smelt of foist and unclean with a stain, I showed the owner before leaving to be told it didn't smell but it would be laundered.
Quite simply I would not recommend.

Further to your review we completely disagree with everything that you state and clearly so do all of the other fantastic reviews we have on this site and many others and I am sure anyone reading this review will clearly see it is you that is rude!

Pictures are deceptive as rooms are a lot smaller in person and not the best facilities for the price paid. Breakfast was ok, beds are unfortunately very u comfortable which was the biggest disappointment as after a long day of hiking and walks a nice rest was needed. Neil - The owner wasn’t very welcoming, gave the impression that he didn’t like me due to his tone of voice and body language which also left a sour taste for our stay.
I would avoid this guesthouse and choose one of the many available with a better customer service & mattresses which are not uncomfortable that have springs poking your back!

A short stop over at the Coppice. Ideally situated between Windermere and Windermere on Bowness with some decent restaurants 10 min walk away Single room on the top floor, no7, neat with a good shower, but the bed did creak a bit Nice touch to have a welcome decanter of sherry waiting in the room Hosts were friendly and breakfasts good quality and plentiful. Ask about the health spa pass it has a beautiful pool! The B&B is on a busy road, try and book a back room

Room was clean & tidy & they had tried to make the best of a very small en-suite. Good location & walking distance to Windermere/Bowness. No flexibility with only a 45 minute slot for breakfast & we had mentioned at check in that we would be 20 mins late for breakfast the next day but was told to buy 2 porridge pots from local shop & use the kettle even though we had paid for a breakfast at booking.

False marketing, survival breakfast, and racist grumpy owner
We stayed 5 nights out of the 6 nights we booked originally and paid an expensive total upfront and we literally had to run away 1 day earlier from the owner bad mood/passive aggression, possibly even racism as I am British but have an accent and I felt I was picked on, and her survival breakfast and very uncomfortable small room. We completely avoided contact with the owner in the last 3 days by not going to breakfast at all, as we noticed that her mood and anger was getting worse day by day and we enjoyed a happy breakfast somewhere else.
I can say that the owner is not friendly with foreigners, possibly racist and leaks her personal bad mood and general unhappiness to everyone she can, more so customers, and we found out from other recents reviews from locals as well.
Our stay also included an "off-site health club" which was never offered nor mentioned. Another false marketing and cost cutting opportunity.
Our room was deceptively marketed as a king room with a garden view, in reality it is a single room lacking several comfort features (hooks, storage area, etc) that we paid for and with the garden that can only be accessed by the parking outside the property and not from the room. The room also had a view of the parking and was noisy overnight due to some sort of boiler nearby :(
In regards to breakfast, it was very bad and it gave us the impression that post pandemic the owner is attempting to recover lost money from covid by cutting costs where possible, another example is breakfast. Breakfast is basically eggs + something, or milk with packed cereals, that's it and if you don't eat it she makes a face and/or grumpy comments.
One day we asked for salmon and mushrooms and we got half-stretched out salmon bit (5 grams?) with 4 mushrooms with complimentary grumpiness. That was our last breakfast there.
Also the breakfast room has loud rocky style music that CANNOT be turned down. Breakfast is only served from 8:30 to 9:00 and if you arrive late she makes passive aggressive comments or worse. In addition the water in the property stinks of chlorine badly but maybe is the same everywhere in the area.
Furthermore on the owner, she tends to suggest places/restaurants not based on quality or service but based on if she likes or not the people running a certain restaurant/business, but by now she would have had arguments with half the lake district. We got away from her, saving us the hassle...
Positives? Yes, the location is good and the Lake District is very beautiful. We did some amazing trekking including Old Man Coniston. We will visit other areas of the Lake District.

We had a lovely stay at the Coppice for a mini moon for 2 nights. Neil and Beverley were lovely and tried their best to make you feel welcome, FABULOUS Breakfast fresh and lovely and care taken in the presentation of the food. Only thing was the shower temperature was a little up and down but apart from that me and my wife really enjoyed it.

Incredible service from Beverley, I could not have asked for a better host as she was warm and friendly. Bev also took time out of her day to explain the nearby places to sightsee and visit. Great Breakfast and easy access to all nearby locations due to bus stop right outside and swift 8 min walk into Windermere.

There wasn’t a safe - at least not one that I was aware of - but I wasn’t too worried about leaving our belongings in our room. I’m sure if you contacted the owners, Neil and Beverley, they may have some suggestions.
There are more places to choose from in the Windermere area.
