Very welcoming and helpful hosts. The lodge is of various centuries and we were in the 16th century part (Loughrigg Suite) which meant uneven floors and ceilings which were very atmospheric. Suite was at the back of the hotel and we only heard birds in the morning. It consisted of a comfy bed in a decent sized bedroom with a...

We had a lovely stay in this very quaint and comfortable hotel last weekend. It was a big anniversary for us and we were delighted to find we'd been upgraded to a suite, we believe from the 16th century. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would recommend it to anyone.

We had two nights in a standard double room. Although the bedroom and bathroom would be described as 'small' the bed was comfy, the duvet cosy and the room and bathroom nice and clean. The important points that made the difference were, nice fresh fluffy towels, quality toiletries and the perfect English Breakfast with quality ingredients all perfectly cooked. The...

Run by a very friendly couple who provided all info regarding local attractions and "THE COFFIN TRAIL WALK" a fantastic easy walk from Rydal to Grasmere. They offer a great breakfast in the old traditional way and nothing is to much trouble. Definitely for those who are dodging the mad July holiday crowds and want to walk or just relax...

Rydal lodge is not that far out of Ambleside and has good parking. It is run by an owner and wife team and in a way is more along the style of a quality Bed and Breakfast although it has a small bar area and in summer I understand has teas in the garden. It is in beautiful grounds with...

Stayed on the way back home from visiting relatives in Lancashire. Excellent choice. Really welcoming. Comfy rooms with a good breakfast. Only downside is getting out of the car park - quite a fast road, with very little visibility

Fresh towels daily, plenty of hot water and the breakfast was plentiful, nicely cooked and presented. Hair dryer and wash products provided along with tea, coffee hot chocolate and...

Rydal Lodge is a nice place owned by a lovely couple and the location is fantastic. Near the lake, with White Moss walks just round the corner and the town of Ambleside only a short bus/car ride away. We had a small but nice room in the 16th century part of the building, warm and tidy. Really good breakfast.
