Lovely stay at The White House. Very welcoming and friendly. Great, comfortable, family room and a huge and delicious breakfast. Couldn't fault a thing. East to find and a convenient location for exploring the glorious countryside round and about. Will definitely return next time we need a bed near Penrith. Perfect.

A well appointed guest house. The family room was spacious with what looked like a new en-suite. Very clean and an excellent breakfast. Well placed for access to Penrith and nearby Ullswater. The area has been hit by the recent flooding though, but well signed diversions are in place.

A very warm welcome from Helen and very accommodating to my needs as I stayed whilst working various hours some quite ate in the evening. The breakfasts were scrumptious and well recommended, My room was clean, bright and very cozy. My only bad point is the bed...it was soo comfy I struggled to get out of it each day. Thank... More

We stopped for one night on our way north. Spacious room with a double, two singles and an immaculate bathroom. Comfy, cosy and peaceful. Owner very welcoming. Very convenient for the motorway and lovely breakfast. Well worth eating at George and the Dragon pub 100 yards down the road. We'll definitely come back.

Although small, the single room was warm and cosy. The White house was the ideal place for a stopover and Helen couldn't have been more helpful. Also, a gluten-free breakfast early on a Sunday morning was most welcome. The guest house has private off-road parking, was very easy to find and not far from the M6 whilst still being in... More

I was incredibly disappointed by this stay. I booked a month prior to the visit through a well known website. I stated at the time that I would have my dog with me. I received no further communication from the owner until three days before the stay (2 days after the free cancellation) informing me that my dog would cost... More

We stopped for one night on our way home from Scotland. Lovely house and with a beautiful garden. Our room was large, clean and beautifully decorated with an ensuite bathroom which had a great shower. Most important for us was that our dog was also welcome. Breakfast the next day was very tasty. I would certainly stay here again if... More

We booked for an overnight stay to attend a wedding at Askham Hall about 2 miles away. We asked if we could arrive early to change and drop off our bag, this was on problem, in fact our room was ready. The room was big bright and airy, it was very clean and comfortable the view was great. The breakfast... More
