This pub and hotel has good meals at a fair price. My wife and I both left feeling very satisfied. We were served quickly and the staff were friendly. I would recommend the battered cod. We did not try the haggis. If you need a good hot meal , this pub is worth visiting.

Not a bad pub. Beer "garden" is a sun trap, and the beer is nice. Inside is quite cool, but could do with a makeover. Pleasant staff, and the men's toilets smell nice!!! Price of beer (£4.30 for pint of Peroni) doesn't reflect the current state of the place. Seen better, but seen far worse.

Watery April sunshine in Penrith … it’s Friday lunchtime and we're sitting outside under a parasol playing travel chess, drinking lager: Stella (white) vs Carlsberg (black). Ordered a Bacon Cheese Burger. It came in a crisped bun but soft inner with generous portions of bacon and burger. Was so tasty we ordered another as soon as we'd finished the first... More

A group of ten of us visited here on Thursday 3rd March for dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Chicken pie (‘homemade’) accompanied by crispy, tasty chips and good, no nonsense, vegetables: broccoli, cauliflower and carrots done to a tee - (i.e. very slightly al-dente) Compliments to the chef! We were served by a very pleasant blond-haired girl she was... More

This is a place I have visited many times over the last thirty five years and I have seen many changes. Mostly they have been for the better but on my most recent visit I was very disappointed to find that this Jennings branded establishment (although part of the Marstons group) had done away with Jennings bitter and replaced it... Stopped here for a night to break our journey. This is our second time staying here & we were in the same room. Comfortable bed & room & bathroom clean but could do with a bit TLC ie toilet roll holder loose & bathroom door sticking a bit. However we ate dinner in the hotel & it was delicious &... More

We stopped in here for a light bite to eat, nice food and they allow dogs which is a bonus. Penrith castle ruins can be seen from the pub window. Recommend place that has accommodation and plenty of parking outside Morrisons is just opposite so easy for shopping

Ate here on Saturday 18 July 2015 as a family. Surprised to find very good quality food and fresh. Steak and Ale pie served in individual portions, veg and french fries, A lamb shank slow cooked to perfection and teryaki salmon with fried noodles. All attractively served and delicious. Along with an excellent local ale called 49er, the bill came... More

Together with three others, I visited in late May. Staff were friendly and we booked for an evening meal. We chose our meals from a blackboard listing specials. They arrived promptly, but we had to return one meal to the kitchen as it did not agree with what was shown on the board, and contained ingredients which were not suited... More
