I travel to the Lake District every six weeks undertaking the Wainwright fells in 36 walks. I belong to numerous walking groups and undertake many professionally guided walking tours. I have now visited three times to this back to basic campsite. Charged at £7 per person per night, it is value for money. I simply love the volcanic showers which... More

Visited for the 1st time in early September and instantly fell in love with the place on arrival. If you want posh camping with all amenities close at hand then this is not for you. If you want peace and quiet in a stunning location then it is perfect. We camped in the bottom field which has no amenities at... More

This is exactly what campsites are about for me, no caravans, club houses and games rooms, just the great outdoors. Nestled in beautiful Borrowdale a 15 minute walk from the foot of Castle Crag and right by the river derwent it's a perfect spot. We camped in the 2nd field right in the woods and stated two nights. Showers are... More

Great location, set among woods and close to the river so perfect for kids. Facilities are relatively basic but site is good value for money. Could be improved by some basic site management - tents and cars were crammed in, there was noise until very late some nights and lots of open fires with no staff around.

Wonderful stay at Hollows Farm B&B which has such a great location by Castle Crag. The room was comfortable and clean. Laura and her husband are really genuine and friendly hosts. Excellent value at the height of the summer season. Would certainly recommend and look to stay again on our next trip to the Lakes.

If you can handle the midges and the weather, this is one of the most beautiful, scenic campsites anywhere. I have been visiting for many years and it's no secret that the farmer and his wife have no idea when it comes to customer relations. They are both rude, unfriendly and could not make it more obvious, how much they... More

I was unaware that the campsite was located down a very narrow lumpy bumpy unmade rough road, my little car had to drive very slow. I went to the campsite reception white caravan in the first field and paid my fee in cash. I was given a permit to tie on my tent and display at all times. I pitched... More

I stayed at Hollow's farm for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The location is one of the most beautiful areas in the lakes and from every window in the hotel the views are breath-taking. Our room was large with lovely furniture, everywhere was spotlessly clean and lovingly taken care of. The shower was invigorating and excellent for... More

Fab little cottage nestled below the stunning fells of the Borrowdale valley. Pretty little village of Grange on the doorstep, and in easy walking distance of Derwent water. So many options for walks and climbs makes this an ideal base to set off from. Cottage itself is intimate and comfortable with all you need utility wise. On a working farm... More

Just spent the weekend camping on this site in the fantastic Borrowdale valley with our older scouts - who were completing an expedition. The owners and team who run the site could not be more helpful to us, the facilities were clean and tidy, with the toilet block thoroughly cleaned daily. Whilst the site was very busy (both fields) as... More
