Following a 10 mile stroll around derwentwater on a gorgeous December morning my partner and I popped into the inn on the square for a quick drink and a bite to eat. The bar was quiet and our simple order quickly placed - steak sandwich and fish and chips. 60 minutes later there was still no sign of food at...

Recently and beautifully renovated lovely old building in the centre of the town. The staff were just brilliant - consistently pleasant and professional. I stayed here for 6 nights in November with a mixture of weather- wet and windy and cold and snowy. The hotel was warm and comfortable and my single room just about big enough. This could be improved...

First visit since many years ago when it used to be The Queens Hotel. The building has undergone an amazing transformation and is now a beautiful modern establishment. When you come in, it feels warm and inviting and the Christmas decorations are most tasteful. We were staying for 1 night DBB. The room was smallish but had all we needed...

Great place. Central, comfortable and warm. Nearing Christmas beautifully decorated. Modern inside with spacious seating. Good range of wines and beers. Pleasant helpful staff. Easy access but there are a few steps to the lobby. Both bar food and restaurant menu. Free wifi.

Oh, me and my wife had a lovely meal 🍴 at The Inn on the Square Saturday. The staff were fantastic. Great cocktails from competent and friendly bartenders. The restaurant waiting on staff were so polite and cheerful, really liked the French guy. The food was amazing, couldn't fault it. The kitchen looked like it flowed with ease from the...

We stayed at the hotel on 7th November for 2 nights as a surprise for my husband's 50th. In the mix we also took our puppy Barney with us. First time we have taken a dog away. What a great experience....the hotel was so accommodating and friendly from arrival to departure. The hotel room was spotless (I'm quite fussy)...so was...

Very well located hotel. We stayed here with our two labradors and nothing was too much trouble. The dogs were welcomed (even though they were a little excited). We were able to eat dinner and breakfast at the restaurant, or just outside it along with three other couples that had brought their pooches too. As others have said the rooms...

We booked here for a one night getaway to the lakes with our puppy and it's honestly the best hotel I've stayed in in the UK! Meant to book thursday to Friday but for some reason I booked Friday to Saturday which would mean me leaving at 5.30am but they changed dates via email no problem so it was already...
