Hotel is located adjacent to a park 10 minutes walk from the town centre - rabbits on lawn outside restaurant were entertaining. Communal areas - bar and restaurant - have been recently refurbished and are very smart and comfy. Breakfast was buffet style and was...More
We were lucky enough to get a room here fairly last minute due to a cancellation and despite years of visiting Keswick, we'd never seen this hotel before as it's slightly set back from the town up by Fitz Park. That said it's an easy...More
We spent five nights at this hotel with very good food with a different menu each evening. The public rooms are all very comfortable with attractive furnishings. Our bedroom was large and comfortable with the exception of the chairs. The grounds are well kept and...More
Stayed in spacious twin room, room looks like it needs freshening up in decoration though and the heating was on in room when we arrived even though it was very hot outside, great reception staff very welcoming, best bar staff with local tips, renovation of...More
We spent two nights here. The rooms are a bit rabbit warren like but that doesn't cause an issue unless you have a lot of, or heavy, luggage with you. And yes Queen Lizzie visited in 1956! It is a lovely country mansion style hotel...More

Good hotel for Keswick and area. Recommendations depend on how you like to spend your time. Lots of great walks,- a classic is the Catbells Terrace walk or the hilltops themselves. Bus service from centre of town....Booths supermarket...is an excellent way to start or finish a walk. Buttermere is great for a visit and walk. Castlerigg Stone Circle is nearby but can get busy,- go early or, if there's a sunset, go late. View from Lattrigg, behind the hotel, driveable for 80% of the way, is excellent. Cinema is good. Spoiled for choice with pubs. Alternative to using bus or car ....use Keswick Launch BUT check which landing stages are open because of the recent drought and the low level of water in Derwentwater.
