I have just returned from a two night stay at Wainwright House with my mother. As part of her 80th birthday celebrations we travelled to Kendal to revisit the place where she was evacuated to during the war 75 years ago. David and Shirley made us very welcome with individual attention and a hearty well cooked breakfast. Our accommodation was... More

stay here with a couple of friends on a trip to Kendal. The owners were really friendly and helpful helping us to make the most out of our trip to the lakes made us feel like we were part of their family more than paying guests. Close to the center of Kendal but tucked away with plenty of space for... More

We stayed here for 2 very enjoyable nights while some of our party completed the Dales Way. David and Shirley made us very welcome and were very helpful. The house has an interesting story and there is information and photos available for those interested. Our room was a little small but clean and comfortable with good ensuite facilities. Breakfast was... More

It is always nice to see a group of guests have really enjoyed their stay. The memory of both families making full use of our Guest Lounge each evening to play their game of Upwords was a pleasure indeed. I hope one day their walks will bring them to visit us again. More

This is a very good up and coming bed and breakfast in Kendal. The hosts are very friendly people and so welcoming and very willing to help us much more than we would ever have expected. It has good parking and is a good positive aspect of it compared to many other B&Bs in the lakes that require parking on... More

Clean room and friendly welcome upon arrival. We had space to store our bikes as we had cycled in the lakes. 15 minute walk into Kendal. David and Shirley recommended many restaurants and excellent breakfast in the morning was served. Rooms were spacious including a good sized ensuite. We had booked a twin room however it was taken so kindly... More

We enjoyed our stay as the couple were friendly and nothing was too much for them. Our room was bigger than most we have stayed in. The cooking was perfect and there was a good choice for breakfast. Well worth a visit. The only downside was the cobwebs on the outside of the windows. Considering the fact that the couple... More

We always do our best to give customers a warm welcome, and it is a pleasure to receive such praise. We take particular pride in the fact that our guestrooms are roomy and well presented. Our gardens and woodland are a unique selling point ahead of other Kendal premises. However, our industrious garden spiders do give us a hard time... More

I stayed here in April for two nights so that I could walk some of the Wainwright far eastern outlying fells and am so glad that I did. Wainwright House is uniquely situated at the end of its own private drive which means that it is also very peaceful and quiet. Hosts David and Shirley were extremely welcoming and friendly... More

Stayed here with 3 pals on the first night of a walking weekend. Nice hosts who hit the right note - welcoming but not overbearing. Asked if we wanted fresh milk to make tea/coffee rather than just leaving a bowl of UHT packs. Relaxing lounge with stove, comfy beds, brilliant breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.
