Certificate of Excellence

#3 of 43 B&Bs / Inns in Kendal
Certificate of Excellence
The Glen is a family concern with an excellent reputation for friendly service and large freshly cooked breakfasts using local produce. It is situated on the outskirts of Kendal, in a quiet location in its own grounds under "The Helm" (local walk and view point of Kendal, the Lake District Mountains and Morecambe Bay), but within a 200 metres of country Inn and restaurant. All rooms are en suite, with most having bath and shower. For that special occasion we have, our Luxury suite with en suite Bathroom with shower and a double room with large en suite bathroom with Double Bath and separate walk-in shower. We have a large family/twin room with view of 'The Helm' plus a large ground floor suite with king size bed. All rooms have freeview TV with DVD. Outside, relax on our patio before taking an evening walk on 'The Helm' to watch the sunset over the Lakeland Mountains, then a drink or meal in our local Inn.

Recently attended a craft day, didn’t stay overnight but the guest house is lovely. Pauline was the perfect hostess and really looked after her guests. Lunch and the cake was fantastic and ample. Will be looking out for future workshops.

Beautiful guesthouse with quality breakfast, modern, well appointed bedrooms/bathrooms and fantastic hosts. We were a party of three who were visiting family in the area for a few days and Bill and Pauline couldn't have made us more welcome if they tried. The location is on the outskirts of Kendal, close to the railway station at Oxenholme and with a fantastic pub/restaurant just a couple of minutes up the road. There's plenty of parking and it's a pretty quiet area over all. Our rooms were spotlessly clean and well presented with modern fittings and very comfy beds. The breakfasts have a lot of choice and use locally sourced sausages, bacon and eggs and it was all cooked exactly as you wanted. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely owners and they truly deserve their five star rating. We'd be very happy to stay again the next time we're in the area.

We stayed for 2 nights (me, wife, 2 kids and dog) at the end of October. Lovely host's and such a clean room and place. Nice extras in room like mini bath bombs and dog treat. Breakfast was really good with lots of choice. Nice pub 2 minute walk away. Great walk up The Helm which is behind the house. Wild ponies and good views. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed here with our two small dogs en-route to Scotland. Absolutely perfect in every way. Very friendly and helpful hosts who made us feel most welcome. An ideal stop-over, very handy for the motorway and with a great pub two minutes walk away. The attention to detail is superb and our room (twin ground floor suite) was stunning. Highly recommended.

We are 4 ladies completing the Dales Way walk and stayed for 1 night. Our stay was wonderful and the attention to detail was amazing. Breakfast was tasty and well presented. A lot of other owners of b&b’s could learnt a lot from how this accommodation is run and organised. Hope to stay again.
