Nothing pretentious. Good a good honest, friendly B & B. Lovely people. Great local knowledge. If you don't need or want the "hotel" raz a ma taz. But a good honest place to put your head and get a gear breakfast. You might have found it ! If you want a beer ( :-) ) the Riflemans' Arms is short... More

This is the second time we have been to the Hillside and it is excellent in every way. Immaculately clean, beautiful rooms and Richard and Wendy could not be more welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and they pay attention to every little detail. They use locally sourced ingredients for breakfast and they even cater for gluten free.... More

I was very much satisfied with everything of this B&B. The accomodation is modern and convenient . The location is good,--near the wood where I could take a walk in the morning and also near shops, restaurants & the museums. The owner advised me properly in my trip plan. So I vlsited the Quaker's Textile Museum and was moved with many... More

And it really is SUPER DUPER. We were in Ambleside for a wedding and opted to make a little break of it - booking direct and staying 3 nights with the lovely George and Lindsay. This lovely B & B offer instant relaxation and a host of home comforts which really invites you to 'switch off and chill out'. The... More

The owners were extremely friendly and hospitable. The hotel rooms were in pristine condition and maintained throughout our stay. The breakfast was excellent and the owners even offered some local insight which made my stay even more enjoyable. Definitely the best B&B I have ever stayed in!

This was my first visit to Kendal, I stayed for three days. The accommodation, in a word, was perfect. The proprietors were polite, helpful and always on hand to ensure my stay was as good as it could be. The breakfasts were excellent, the room I was in was clean and well maintained. I would have no hesitation in recommending... More

This was our first stay in the lakes and we picked a little gem. It is located just off the town centre, as it's name would suggest, on a hill. However, Don't let this deter you because the warm welcome and comfortable rooms are well worth it. Rooms are clean tidy and very comfortable, with a guest information which should... More
