We popped in here while waiting to pick someone up from the station and had a quick coffee and a cheeky pudding - both of which were good. It was a much better and more comfortable alternative than the station itself - just sorry I was driving as I couldn't do it justice. The interior of the pub was a... More

Nice pub, real fires, huge outdoor play area (yep, tested it in the snow), good food. Starters a bit pricey but very nice, kids menu very good, mains we had (pie and gammon) very good. No real complaints except the cost of drinks, but will be returning.

An extra star for being so kid friendly and helping us set up high chairs for the three kids in our party. But the steak and ale pie was so dried up and ancient that the gravy (what little there was of it) was solid. It was dried onto the outside of the pastry and even on the plate (as... More

We've had a meal recently and we were very disappointed. Station inn ploughman’s: £12 Lancashire cheese- OK blue cheese also good, pork pie 1 inch in diameter, pickled onions- yes, tiny single one, “Hawkshead relish” piccalilli, apple and date and damson chutney both great, and locally baked bloomer bread which was very dry. I thought I'll go for a rump... More

Went here for departmental Christmas lunch with colleagues from work. Never been before and was quite impressed. Food very good and tasty off the set Christmas menu and portion sizes generous. Service a little slow but the place was very busy to be fair. Highly recommended and will go again.

A lovely warm welcome for our Christmas Lunch today. The service was excellent! All of the food was clearly very fresh and likely locally sourced. The flavours of all the food were excellent - felt more like restaurant quality than 'pub food'! The presentation of the dishes was excellent, just right and not over the top. We all had three... Just popped in a couple of weeks ago to have lunch before a hospital appointment. As soon as we walked in we were greeted very warmly. We were shown to a very comfortable table next to the fire as it was a cold and miserable day outside. The food was really well cooked and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We will... More

I stayed here with friends for one night. Being close to the station (some were coming by train) and with a large car park it was ideal. Having said that, my arrival at 8.00 PM on a Thursday in November found me taking the last parking space, an indication of the Inn's popularity with diners and overnight guests. Our large... More

I have had the fish and chips twice and my partner had the burger. But we thought we'd try something different, grilled chicken risotto was lovely while my partner had steak and kidney pudding. Would definitely make this our pub to go to

We stayed here whilst visiting Kendal's mountain festival. Only a few minutes out of town and easily accessible via a taxi or bus. Hotel was nice, decent sized rooms, comfy bed, only criticism would be of both the mirror that wouldn't stay put or the shower head that wouldn't stay up. Sadly I have to mention the towels... most of... More
